Salary Schedule Provisions. Any change in degree status during the course of the school year shall become effective at the beginning of the subsequent semester. Contractual salary shall be adjusted to conform with the new status.

2. Graduate credit hours completed by an employee prior to obtaining a Masters’ Degree that is not required for his/her initial Masters’ Degree can be used towards their Masters’ Plus column. 7.1.2.3 Credit for SLP, OT/PT, Nurses and School Psychologists placement on the salary schedule shall be based on WAC 000-000-000 and OSPI guidance with the exception that the employee may receive experience credit for up to 16 years on the salary schedule.
7.1.2.4 The District and Association recognize that the JROTC program requires special considerations and agree that the District shall establish salaries for this position pursuant to its normal regulation notwithstanding any other provisions of this Agreement.
Salary Schedule Provisions a. Employees shall be placed on the appropriate salary schedule step based upon years of employment experience in the Lakewood Local School District in their specific job classification.
b. To advance to the next level on the salary schedule, the employee must have been employed a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) days the previous fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). Years of service shall be counted from date of most recent hire. The Board may, at its discretion, place a new employee at a higher step on their schedule to reflect former experience, but in no case will an employee be placed at a lower step than is warranted by years of continuous service to the district in their present job classification. No new hire shall be granted more years of experience for previous experience for salary purposes than that allowed current employees with the same number of years of experience or more in the school district in the same classification.
c. Employees transferred to higher paying positions and/or wage scale within a classification shall be placed on the step of the new salary schedule which would provide the employee an increase in wages of at least an amount equal to the incremental amount between the classification the employee is leaving and Step 1 of the new classification.
Salary Schedule Provisions. 6.1 In placing a new employee, credit for public school certificated experience prior to employment by the District will be recognized on a year- for-year basis up to a maximum of ten (10) years for experience during the preceding ten (10) years. The length of service specified in No. 2 below, shall apply to crediting such prior service.
6.2 Subsequent vertical experience step movement on the salary schedule shall require district employment in a paid status under regular certificated contract for a minimum of one hundred thirty-five (135) teaching days during the preceding school year.
6.3 Units allowed for salary schedule placement and advancement shall be limited to upper division and graduate level courses (except as described in 3.2.2 below) successfully completed from an institution accredited organization, after receipt of the Bachelor’s Degree. Such units must also be related to the employee’s certificated assignment, as determined by the Professional Growth Committee and the Superintendent. No units for which the employee receives any District monetary contribution (including, but not limited to, paid release time, substitute costs registration fees, or expense reimbursement) shall be allowed for salary placement. An exception to this will be made for up to 15 units, provided the employee purchases units from an accredited institution. BTSA or other professional development opportunity support providers have the option of choosing a District Stipend or purchasing professional growth units for application to the salary schedule. Advancement on the basic salary schedule shall be determined as follows:
6.3.1 All units granted on the salary schedule must be pre-approved by the “Professional Growth Committee” and the Superintendent.
6.3.1.1 The “Professional Growth Committee” will be composed of two teachers, selected by the unit, and two administrators, selected by the Superintendent. Each committee member will have one (1) vote. A majority vote is necessary for a committee recommendation. The committee will meet once per month as needed to discuss and vote on requests from Certificated Employees.
6.3.1.2 The deadline for any advancement on the salary schedule during the current fiscal year will be September 1st of that year. All requests for approval of units and needed documentation (transcripts, etc.) must be submitted in a timely fashion.

Salary Schedule Provisions. 3.8.1 Unit members employed for the first time by the District shall be granted full credit for prior teaching experience up to a maximum of twenty (20) years which shall permit maximum placement on the twenty-first (21st) step. Speech Language Pathologists shall be granted full credit for prior full-time paid service which required the possession of a Language Speech Bachelor/Master of Arts or Sciences degree or other degrees and certification authorizing service in private practice or the appropriate credential up to a maximum of twenty (20) years which shall permit maximum placement on the twenty-first (21st) step.
3.8.1.1 Effective July 1, 2015, current unit members who, when first employed by the District, were not granted up to 20 years of prior teaching experience if they had it, will be placed at the step that takes into account the unit members’ prior teaching experience that exceeded 10 years but was no more than 20 years.
