Temporary Promotion. A. A regular, probationary or limited-term employee who is assigned on a temporary basis to a higher level vacant regular or limited-term position shall be promoted on a temporary basis to that class when such employee has been assigned to the higher class for one hundred twenty (120) consecutive regularly scheduled hours of work and the employee has been performing all of the significant duties and responsibilities of the higher class, unless the employee requests to be reassigned to his or her former class. At any time before the temporary promotion is made, such employee may request to be reassigned to his or her former class. In such a case, the employee shall be reassigned within five (5) working days. B. An agency/department may, at its option, waive the one hundred twenty (120) hour requirement when it is necessary to utilize a regular, probationary or limited-term employee in a higher level vacant regular or limited-term position for a period that is expected to be at least one hundred twenty (120) regularly scheduled hours but not to exceed eighteen (18) months. C. An employee on temporary promotion shall not be placed on promotional probation. Upon return from temporary promotion, an employee shall serve the remainder of any uncompleted probationary period in the employee's former class and shall have the step status and merit increase eligibility date he or she would have achieved if the employee had remained in the lower class throughout the period of his or her service in the higher class. D. At the end of the employee's assignment to the higher class, the employee shall have the right to return to his or her former class and agency/department. A temporary promotion shall not exceed a period of eighteen (18) months.

Temporary Promotion. (a) Should an employee be temporarily promoted to a higher level position he/she shall be paid on the higher job at the higher rate. In such event the employee’s salary will be adjusted from the commencement of such relief period in accordance with (c), below. (b) Should an employee be temporarily promoted to a supervisory or non-bargaining unit position the promotional increase shall be in effect if the period of temporary promotion exceeds two (2) consecutive working days. (c) If a temporary promotion is three (3) groups or less above the employee’s current level his/her promotional increase will be determined by Subsection 7.05(a) above. If a temporary promotion is four (4) groups or more above his/her current level the Human Resources Department will review the contents of the higher job group to determine the responsibilities to be assumed and will establish the appropriate job level for the relief period but the minimum increase will be three (3) groups. (d) A statutory holiday shall be considered a working day in determining a promotion. (e) A temporarily promoted employee is not eligible for automatic increases on the higher job group, unless the temporary promotion is renewed and thus exceeds six (6) months in duration. However, an employee temporarily on a higher group job shall receive the benefit of automatic salary increases which he/she would have received on the lower group job. Increases in salary awarded for temporary promotions are withdrawn when the employee returns to his/her regular job. The salary at which the employee returns to his/her regular job shall include any automatic increases that would otherwise have come to him during the period of transfer. An employee who is temporarily promoted under the foregoing provision shall, if eligible for a length-of-service increase on his/her regular job, have his/her salary increased by applying the provisions of 7.05(a). (f) In cases where apparent salary anomalies occur, resulting from transfers to and from temporary promotions, the Parties agree to discuss such cases on the merits, subject to grievance procedure.
Temporary Promotion. An employee temporarily promoted to a higher classification to fill in for an absent employee for one (1) shift or longer, shall receive the next higher rate of pay in the higher classification. During these periods of one (1) day or more, one (1) person shall be assigned the temporary promotion. Employees who are temporarily transferred to a position outside the bargaining unit shall be credited with their full seniority on their return. An employee temporarily promoted for three (3) months or more to a higher classification shall receive credit on the salary grid for the period of the temporary promotion if he/she is subsequently promoted permanently to the higher classification.

C. An employee on temporary promotion shall not be placed on promotional probation. Upon return from temporary promotion, an employee shall serve the remainder of any uncompleted probationary period in the employee's former class and shall have the step status and merit increase eligibility date he or she would have achieved if the employee had remained in the lower class throughout the period of his or her service in the higher class. D. At the end of the employee's assignment to the higher class, the employee shall have the right to return to his or her former class and Department. A temporary promotion shall not exceed a period of eighteen (18) months, unless the parties mutually agree to another time period. In the case of Investigator I’s, Court Services Division, a temporary promotion shall not exceed twenty- four (24) months.

(e) Temporary promotions will be made on the basis of the selection criteria outlined in 7.10(d).
Temporary Promotion. (a) Definition: The movement of an employee from one position to another in a higher salary grade, (other than by reclassification), for a period of time after which the employee is to be returned to the position and pay rate held prior to the promotion (allowing for step increases earned through accrual of classification service during the promotion). (b) The rate of payment for a temporary promotion shall be in accordance with the conditions of 13.07 (Salary Adjustment), and shall apply for the duration of the temporary promotion provided that the period is equal to or greater than thirty-five (35) hours.

Temporary Promotion. An employee who, on the request of the Department Head, agrees to temporarily perform the principal duties of a higher paying position, shall be paid at the first step of the new pay grade which provides an increase of at least fifty dollars ($50.00). Temporary promotion shall be for a maximum of six months, with the exception of a temporary promotion resulting from a leave of absence, including maternity leave. Extensions to such temporary promotions, except those resulting from a leave of absence, including maternity leave, shall be by mutual agreement between the parties. To accept or to refuse a temporary promotion shall be the employee’s choice.
Temporary Promotion. ‌ A temporary promotion may occur when an employee fills a vacant position in a higher paygrade on a temporary basis or is assigned a significant portion of additional duties from a higher paygrade on a temporary basis. An employee who is temporarily promoted shall be advised of the commencement date of such promotion and of the date upon which it will end. An employee will be advised of such dates on any renewal. If the temporary promotion is expected to last or does last longer than two (2) weeks, the employee shall receive additional salary or a special allowance for the period. If the temporary promotion is expected to last or does last longer than two (2) months, the employee shall receive a minimum of a 5% salary increase, based on the employee’s original salary.
