Wellness/Fitness Program. Fitness assessments and in-house programs will take place in coordination with a Peer Fitness Trainer. Each Peer Fitness Trainer will be certified, as specified in the Fitness Component of the Memorandum of Agreement-Fire/Rescue Wellness Initiative of 2000. Each Peer Fitness Trainer shall be compensated at one and one-half times his or her regular rate of pay or an equivalent amount of Compensatory Leave if appropriate for off-duty time, as approved in advance by the Chief of the Division of Wellness, Safety, and Training, or his or her designee, spent maintaining his or her certification.
Wellness/Fitness Program. The Wellness-Fitness Program is designed to follow the directives of the IAFF- IAFC Wellness-Fitness Initiative. To this end, the Department and Union jointly strive to achieve the goals as outlined in the initiative.
Wellness/Fitness Program. Purpose:
(a) To provide a program for all Union employees to improve as needed or maintain health and define other fitness related items.
(b) To develop a mandatory overall wellness/fitness system to maintain the physical capabilities of all Union employees. All wellness/fitness programs should include the following key elements: • Medical and fitness evaluations that are kept confidential, secure and separate from the employee’s department or City personnel file. • Physical fitness and wellness programs are educational and not punitive. • Performance testing that promotes progressive wellness improvement. • All personnel of all ranks committed to a positive individualized wellness/fitness program. The goal of the Lake Forest wellness/fitness program will be two-fold. The Primary function is to create and implement a wellness/fitness program that creates a healthier firefighter who will be able to work at his/her job with a minimal amount of cardiovascular, muscular and emotional stress or injury throughout his/her career. The Secondary function, although also of great importance, will be to reduce illness and injury. Adherence to these objectives will ultimately reduce costs to The City of Lake Forest. Each member of the bargaining unit is required to participate in fitness training each assigned work day. The department has established the times between 1500 to 1600 hours as the workout window. Should calls preclude this time, or the workout not be completed within the Shift Commanders designated time frame, the workout may have to be pushed to after 1600 hours. A chief officer may alter the workout time, prior to 1600, for extenuating circumstances to accommodate the workout schedule. No member of the bargaining unit should be working out more than 90 minutes per 24 hour shift. The shift commander shall recognize fitness as a priority in the daily duties and make every effort in coordinating the daily activities and training to include the required fitness training within the prescribed timeframe. The personnel will also be allowed time to shower and clean up after the exercising has been completed if needed. Prior to beginning a fitness-training program, it is recommended that each bargaining unit member have a current fitness assessment as outlined by the department. Wellness/Fitness Program. In exchange for the annual physical examination program, unit members shall be eligible to participate in the Management Wellness/Fitness program. Said unit members will be bound by the same plan, rules, participation requirements, vendors, and cost limitations as are generally applicable to County Management. DAIA acknowledges that County retains the right to alter, amend, or repeal the current plan, rules, participation requirements, vendors, and cost limitations, at any time.
Wellness/Fitness Program. The Village and Union agree that both parties will support a proactive mandatory wellness/physical fitness program. Both parties agree that the program is to improve the quality of life of all personnel. This program will be administered in accordance with SOP 102.02 Member Health and Safety – Physical Fitness Program.
Wellness/Fitness Program. All members of the UNION shall be required to undergo an annual mandatory medical evaluation through the GFFR physician selected by the Wellness–Fitness Committee and participate in an annual in-house peer fitness assessment. The Wellness-Fitness Committee shall include equal representation by Management and UNION.
Wellness/Fitness Program a. The PARTIES recognize the DoD requirement for all DoD Fire and Emergency Services personnel to participate in a structured physical fitness program and the need to establish and maintain a Fire and Emergency Services Division Wellness-Fitness Program at West Point to enable unit employees to develop/maintain an appropriate level of fitness to safely perform their assigned functions and to reduce the probability and severity of occupational illnesses and injuries. Components of the DoD Wellness/Fitness Program include medical evaluation, fitness, injury/fitness/medical rehabilitation, behavioral health, and data collection.
b. The EMPLOYER agrees to provide a Physical Fitness Program to enable bargaining unit employees to develop and maintain an appropriate level of fitness to safely perform their assigned duties.
c. Pursuant to applicable regulations and instructions, the EMPLOYER will require the mandatory participation of all bargaining unit employees that occupy GS-0081 series positions. However, this program is a non-punitive program and in and of itself shall not be utilized to determine the employee’s continued employment at West Point and/or standing within the West Point Fire and Emergency Services Division.
d. The EMPLOYER agrees to provide and maintain all the required physical fitness clothing and equipment to support the physical fitness program. The EMPLOYER agrees to authorize adequate time during the core hours of work for employees to participate in the Wellness-Fitness Program. In addition, the EMPLOYER encourages employees to utilize USMA recreation/fitness facilities and programs in support of the Wellness-Fitness Program.
Wellness/Fitness Program. Unit employees shall participate in a Wellness/Fitness program conducted by Santa Xxx College or other mutually agreed upon provider. The evaluation, blood chemistry panel and physician’s examination shall be conducted annually. All medical information and results are strictly confidential in accordance with state and federal laws.
Wellness/Fitness Program. Developing program objectives; developing the program and related activities (e.g. peer fitness trainers (including certification), workshops, smoking cessation and weight control programs); preparing budget.
Wellness/Fitness Program. 16.1 Employees shall fully participate and cooperate in the Wellness/ Fitness Program during the duty hour(s) prescribed by the Department.
16.2 There will be no disciplinary action taken against anyone who fully participates and cooperates in the program; however, anyone who shows unwillingness to participate shall be subject to discipline.
16.3 It is understood that the physical fitness program outlined in Article 16.1 will be based on version 3 of the IAFF/IAFC Wellness/Fitness Initiative.
16.4 Each employee shall be required to have an annual physical: any allowable cost shall be submitted to the employee’s insurance coverage. The employee retains the right to choose a practitioner of his/her choice. The suggested protocol will be provided to the employee to give to private practitioner. If choosing a private practitioner, the before mentioned protocol cost shall be submitted to the employee’s insurance coverage. Any of the unpaid balance of the medical protocol will be paid for by the Employer. If the private practitioner chooses to perform other testing based upon their professional judgment for the purpose of caring for the patient, those tests should be considered as part of the normal patient care‐not for surveillance purposes‐and billed accordingly. Any medical exams, evaluations, tests or procedures associated with the Wellness/ Fitness Program that require administration, evaluation, or review by a physician, licensed health care professional, or his/her designee and are not specifically required by Federal or State regulation are for the employee’s information exclusively. The only information that the Employer will receive is that the IAFF/IAFC evaluation was completed and any aggregate data that does not identify any member individually.
16.5 It is understood that the medical guidelines outlined in 16.4 will be based on version 3 of the IAFF/IAFC Wellness/Fitness Initiative. Any future versions shall be mutually agreed upon prior to implementation.
16.6 The position of joint labor management Wellness Fitness Initiative (WFI) coordinator shall be selected annually by mutual agreement between labor and management and will be reporting to the RFA Health & Safety Officer.
