COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING. 39.1 The District and the Association agree that giving teachers increased responsibility for sharing decisions fosters the collegial exchange of ideas necessary for effective professional practice and enhancement of the learning environment. 39.2 In support of shared decision making the District and Association agree that certain topics will be brought to a collaborative decision making process in order to reach an end result. 39.2.1 Such topics may include, but are not limited to, budget, programming, instructional practices, staffing, school improvement plans, scheduling, Multi-Tiered System of Supports/Response to Intervention (MTSS/RtI), use of time, meetings’ agenda items, and professional development time. 39.3 The collaborative decision making process will be achieved by individual buildings implementing a process for teachers’ and administrators’ voices and interests to be considered and valued in decisions that will be made, shared, communicated. Decisions based on this process ensure that all stakeholders have a voice and will support decisions. 39.3.1 Annually, not later than the September late start day, the collaborative decision making process shall be communicated to staff at each site. 39.4 In the collaborative decision making process the following elements will be evident: 39.4.1 At the outset of the process, the supervisor shall inform participants of the scope and sequence of the discussion and the manner in which the final decision will be made (collaborative, consultative or directive). 39.4.2 Teachers and Administrators affected by the outcome will be given an opportunity to be represented in the process. This representation might vary from one (1) topic and/or building to another. (leadership teams, grade level teams, departments, ad hoc committees) 39.4.3 Communication about the issue, process of decision making, and the decision will be shared openly with all affected parties. 39.4.4 Members of the staff will know how to access information regarding the process used in reaching decisions. 39.4.5 The parties recognize that these higher levels of input should result in shared ownership of decisions. 39.4.5.1 No person shall take reprisals affecting the employment or working conditions of any participant in the collaborative decision making process. 39.5 The parties recognize that training in the collaborative decision making process will be necessary to successfully implement this process on a consistent basis throughout the Distric...

COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING. 6-1. The Association and the Board of Education value increasing job-effectiveness, recognition and self-respect of staff through shared responsibilities at their workplace through a well- designed school-based, collaborative decision-making process. A trust building and collaborative process involving the entire staff will be used at each site to develop its protocols for a decision-making spectrum which includes collaborative decision making. Collaborative decision making and collaborative processes are not meant to supersede managerial responsibility or employee rights, but to acknowledge teachers’ need and ability to help shape their own activities. When teachers have ideas or concerns regarding specific issues, they should be brought to the attention of the principal and/or to site designed collaborative committees and/or processes. Collaborative decisions must conform to state and federal laws and regulations, board policy and other TSD parameters, and the Memorandum of Understanding. Exceptions can be made only through existing means of appeal (See Article 3-4).
COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING. The District values employee voice and recognizes the benefit when employees are included in the decision-making process. Both the District and the Association recognize mutual benefits when both parties have joint communication that is transparent and collaborative.
COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING. A. The Board, elected by the citizens of the Villages, is a public body established under, and with duties, powers, responsibilities, and rights provided by, the laws of the State of Illinois and the applicable rules and regulations of administrative agencies issued under such laws. B. The Superintendent of the District is the chief executive officer of the Board and as such administers and directs the operation of the District in accordance with the policies, decisions of record, and contracts of the Board, including this Agreement. C. In order to maintain open communications and provide opportunities for the Faculty Senate to advise and consult with the Board and the Superintendent of the District on issues of mutual concern: 1. The Board President or designee agrees to meet with the Faculty Senate Executive Committee or its designees not less than once each semester during each school year, to discuss items of mutual concern. 2. The Board agrees that the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents will meet on at least a monthly basis with the Faculty Senate Executive Committee or its designees. 3. The Board agrees that a designated representative of the Faculty Senate shall be considered a source of information during Board meetings. 4. Except for matters which the Board is lawfully entitled to consider in closed session or in a Board self-evaluation, the Board agrees that when it is likely to be considering matters significantly affecting the working conditions of faculty members, or a final vote thereon is likely to be taken: a. A reasonable effort shall be made by the Superintendent, prior to adoption, to advise the Chairperson of the Faculty Senate of the likelihood of such consideration by the Board and to provide a reasonable opportunity to review and discuss such matters with the Superintendent in advance of the Board meeting; b. The Superintendent shall use reasonable efforts to advise the Chairperson of the Faculty Senate as early as reasonably practicable prior to any such final vote; and c. Prior to any such final vote thereon, the Chairperson of the Faculty Senate or their designee shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to present a statement to the Board and to make recommendations with respect to such matters. 5. The Board and the Faculty Senate agree during the term of this Agreement, to maintain the following Joint Committees, consisting of equal number of faculty and administration representatives, to develop recommendations on re...
COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING. The District and the Association agree to collaborate on decision making which impacts the educational needs of the students. Building Leadership Teams will be active, with regular monthly meetings. Each building team will consist of the building principal, certificated and classified staff members, and a parent. Membership is determined by interest, position, and reviewed on a yearly basis to encourage equal opportunity. The Association agrees to abide by the Administrative Procedures on collaborative decision making as delineated in Pioneer District Policy.
COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING. As major educational initiatives evolve, It is in the best interests of the District and the Association that the decision -making process, whenever practical and possible, shall include individuals affected by a decision. Collaborative processes will provide opportunities for participation and input from administration and staff, as well as parents and community members as needed. It is understood that collaborative processes are more time-consuming than traditional decision-making methods and require extra commitments of time, energy, and resources on the part of all staff and other participants.
COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING. The Association and the Board are committed to collaborative decision making as a joint planning and problem solving process to accomplish the District's educational objectives. This commitment proceeds from the determinations that effective planning and decision making at the building and district-wide level occurs when all human resources are actively involved. This commitment to collaboration has been and will continue to be reflected by the district and building level ad hoc committees, joint Association/Board committees, and the special task forces, which are formulated from time to time to address specific issues. The Board and the Association shall work together collaboratively to facilitate the development of the credit flexibility program in the District.
