On-Duty Training. Bargaining unit members attending required training sessions away from the Police Department shall either be provided transportation to and from the training location, if available, or shall be paid the prevailing rate mileage allowance for the use of their own vehicle. An employee who attends a police-related seminar, upon the direction of the Chief, on his own time will receive one (1) hour pay at the employee's straight time hourly rate of pay for each hour spent in said seminar. In addition, the Village will pay for travel time as follows. The parties agree travel time shall not be included in the calculation of hours worked for purposes of overtime compensation. Actual time spent in training shall be included in the calculation of hours worked for purposes of overtime compensation. Employees shall be compensated at the employee's straight time hourly rate of pay for travel time to and from said seminar in accordance with the list attached as Appendix C. Should the Village require attendance by officers at additional schools, the parties agree to negotiate standard travel times for travel to and from said schools. Employees attending training, which is not required by the Department but at the request of the employee shall, do so on their own time and shall not be entitled to compensation. It is also agreed that the transportation to and from these training sessions will be the employee's responsibility.

On-Duty Training. Police Officers attending training sessions required by the Department away from the Police Department shall either be provided transportation to and from the training location, if available, or shall be paid the prevailing rate mileage allowance for the use of their own vehicle. An officer who is assigned to attend a police related seminar as overtime will receive one and one-half times his/her regular hourly rate of pay for each hour spent in said seminar. Officers attending special schools or training academies outside of the Village shall be allowed to utilize a police department squad car, when available, for travel to and from the school or academy.

On-Duty Training. All required training shall be held on duty during regular working hours except that the Chief may require up to sixteen (16) classroom hours per year for any fire service-related training other than EMS training. Time spent on training to maintain required level during nonworking hours shall be paid at the Firefighter/EMS personnel's regular rate as appropriate. The City will make a reasonable effort to support and pay for training leading to an employee's advancement in their primary job or to advancement in cross-training.
On-Duty Training. Sergeants required to travel to training located away from the Oswego Police Department – as determined by Google Maps internet service (one way calculation) – shall be compensated as follows: More than 20 miles but less than 35 miles: One and one-half (1 ½) hours More than 35 miles but less than 50 miles: Two and one-half (2 ½) hours More than 50 miles: Three and one-half (3 ½) hours The foregoing provisions do not apply in cases where training-related travel requires overnight lodging. Travel costs for training requiring overnight lodging will be addressed by the Police Chief on a case-by-case basis at the prior written request of the Sergeant attending
On-Duty Training. An employee may request to attend a scheduled training while on duty during the employee's regular scheduled work hours. The employee may make a request in advance of the scheduled training to his/her supervisor to attend training during his regular scheduled work hours. The supervisor may approve or deny the employee's request to attend the scheduled training considering shift manpower needs, minimum staffing, frequency of employee requests for on duty training or any other factors the shift supervisor considers relevant. If an employee is approved to attend a scheduled training his/her work hour will not change on the date of the approved training. The employee's work duties on that date will be to attend the approved scheduled training. In the event an employee's prior approval to attend training on duty causes a shift shortage on the date of training the employee will not be allowed to attend the training. The employee will be assigned his regular work duties and will receive no additional compensation.
On-Duty Training. All employees covered by this Agreement shall have the option of attending up to forty (40) hours of training related to their field or FIRE/EMS related subjects each year while on duty. This training shall be subject to the Fire Chief’s approval but not unreasonably withheld.

The parties agree that when an officer is required to stay overnight for training, that officer shall be given a cash allotment $32.00 dollars for overnight, $6.00 for breakfast, $10.00 for lunch and $16.00 for dinner with receipts required. Training where meals are provided will not be reimbursed (i.e. if lunch is offered, no reimbursement will be paid). If a meal is provided, the value of that meal shall be deducted from the stipend. (e.g. if lunch is provided, $10.00 is deducted from the $32.00). If an officer is required to stay overnight, meal money shall be advanced to that officer, provided the officer submits a written request to the Chief of Police or his designee at least ten (10) calendar days prior to the training date. Each Officer on such an assignment shall turn the balance of such funds to the Village along with receipts for expenditures for meals at the end of said training assignment.

Lodging will be offered to the officer if training requires travel of over seventy five (75) miles from the Village of Plainfield and where training lasts for three (3) or more consecutive days. Officers attending training that is not required by the Department but at the request of the officer, shall do so on their own time and shall not be entitled to any compensatory time. It is also agreed that the transportation to and from these training sessions will be the officer's responsibility. All on-duty training shall be in lieu of shift duty.
