– PAID HOLIDAYS – FULL-TIME. The Employer recognizes the following days as paid holidays, subject to the conditions established in this Article: New Year's Day Labour Day Family Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day First Monday in August and any other day proclaimed by the Federal, Provincial or Municipal Government. The above holidays shall be enjoyed on the day they are proclaimed by the Federal, Provincial or Municipal Government. In addition, there shall be one floating holiday per year which will be designated by mutual agreement between the Employer and the employees for all employees who have completed their probationary period. If Heritage Day or any other day is legislated, the one remaining floating holiday will be observed on the day proclaimed, and should the new holiday be proclaimed after an employee has already taken the floating day in the year in question, that employee shall not get the new holiday that year. This floating holiday must be taken in the year in which it is earned. A minimum of seventy-two (72) hours advance notice shall be required when requesting floating holidays.

Where an employee chooses the latter option, such time off must be taken within the succeeding four (4) pay periods of the occurrence of the overtime at a time mutually agreeable to the hospital and the employee, or payment in accordance with the former option shall be made. NOTE: Shifts starting from 2300 hours the day prior to a holiday or on the holiday set out in Article 20.03 shall receive the premium payment set out above provided the majority of hours worked fall on the holiday.

– PAID HOLIDAYS – FULL-TIME. Employees who have completed their probationary period shall receive the following paid holidays with pay: New Year's Day Civic Holiday Good Friday Boxing Day Easter Monday Labour Day Victoria Day Thanksgiving Day Canada Day Christmas Day Family Day It is understood and agreed that in order to be eligible for such holiday with pay the employee must otherwise qualify in accordance with the following provisions, or as mutually agreed by Manager and employee. Each employee shall be entitled to one (1) additional holiday with pay. Such holiday to be a float day. Such day to be scheduled by mutual agreement between the employee and the department head. Employees who have not completed their probationary period shall nevertheless be eligible to receive holiday pay for the above-mentioned holidays which fall during such period providing they first successfully complete their probationary period and further providing they would have otherwise qualified in accordance with the following provisions. Holiday pay will be computed on the basis of the number of hours the employee would otherwise work had there been no holiday, at this regular rate of pay. In order to qualify for holiday pay, the employee must work the full scheduled shift immediately preceding and immediately following the holiday. If, however, an employee's absence during the full scheduled shift immediately preceding or immediately following the holiday is due to illness, the employee will be entitled to holiday pay, but only in respect to a maximum of two (2) holidays during any one such illness. It is further understood that the Hospital may require a medical certificate confirming such illness. Payment made under this section will be considered statutory holiday pay and such day shall not be considered absence due to illness for the purpose of Article 23. An employee scheduled to work on a paid holiday and who does not report for work shall forfeit their holiday pay except in cases of absence for a reason satisfactory to the Hospital or verified illness for which a medical certificate may be requested. An employee required to work on any of the paid holidays referred to in Section 20.02 shall be paid at time and one-half their regular straight time rate of pay for all hours worked on such holiday in addition to any holiday pay to which they may be entitled or an equivalent amount of time off in lieu thereof at the discretion of the Hospital.
