SPECIFIED HOLIDAYS. 14.1 All permanent and temporary employees covered by this agreement are entitled to twelve (12) Specified Holidays with pay, regardless of the day on which the Holiday occurs, provided they have worked their regular shift on their regular work day preceding such Holiday and the regular work day succeeding such Holiday, or has obtained authorized leave of absence for such regular work days. Provided also, that a permanent and temporary employee works on a Specified Holiday if they are scheduled to do so. Said Specified Holidays shall be: New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Half (1/2) day and half Christmas Eve (1/2) day New Year's Eve, when Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve fall on a weekday, i.e. Monday through Friday. 1/2 day will be defined as commencing at the halfway point of the employee's shift, and will apply to employees working day shift only. See Appendix D. An additional paid Holiday called a Floater Holiday shall be granted upon mutual agreement of an employee and Department Manager or Nominee. The following qualifications will apply to the Floater Holiday.
1) It must be taken during the calendar year and may be used in two (2) four hour blocks with such approval subject to operational requirements.
2) Failure to take the Floater forfeits all entitlements to the Holiday.
3) It will be on a first request basis.
4) The Floater Holiday will not apply to permanent or temporary employees with less than six (6) months continuous service.
14.2 In the event such employee is absent from their regular shift before or after such Holiday, and presents a reasonable explanation to the Corporation for such absence, they shall be paid.
14.3 When Specified Holidays occur on Saturday and/or Sunday, those employees whose work week is scheduled on a six (6) or seven (7) consecutive day basis may have their work period rescheduled by the Corporation in a manner mutually agreeable to both Parties. Such shift schedule change will be discussed with the Union prior to implementation.
14.4 Stat days earned as a result of working a specified holiday during the period from Christmas Day of one year to November 30 of the following year shall be taken in the same time period. If the stat days are not taken, the time will be paid out immediately following November 30.

SPECIFIED HOLIDAYS. 13.01 An employee shall receive the following specified holidays with pay: New Year's Day Civic Holiday Family Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day In order to qualify for specified holiday pay, the employee must work his scheduled shifts on each of the work days immediately preceding and immediately following the holiday concerned, unless he has a justifiable reason. The employees shall receive the benefit of any additional holiday that may be proclaimed by the Government during the life of the Agreement.
13.02 Specified holiday pay will be computed on the basis of eight (8) hours at the associate's regular straight time hourly rate of pay.
13.03 An employee required to work on a specified holiday will be guaranteed a minimum of six (6) hours work, except when he agrees to work less than six (6) hours in which case he will be guaranteed a minimum of four (4) hours work. Such employee will be paid for authorized work performed on such day at one and one-half (1 ½) times (two (2) times if the store was not open for business on the holiday) his straight time hourly rate of pay (except in the case of work performed on civic holiday which shall be payable at straight time), in addition to any holiday pay to which he may be entitled.
13.04 If a specified holiday falls within an employee's vacation period, he will be entitled to holiday pay in addition to his vacation pay, or the day must be taken in conjunction with his vacation.
13.05 When any of the holidays referred to above occurs in any week the regular work week will be reduced by eight (8) hours for each of such holidays, except a week in which two specified holidays occur. In such a week, the work week shall be reduced by thirteen (13) hours, one eight (8) hour shift and one five (5) hour shift.
13.06 In the event a Specified Holiday falls on a Sunday, the next work day shall be recognized and paid as a holiday. In the event that day is also Specified Holiday, the next work day shall be recognized and paid as a holiday.
SPECIFIED HOLIDAYS. 10.01 For the purposes of this Article:
(a) the following shall be specified as holidays under the Agreement and "holiday" means: New Year's Day Family Day Good Friday Easter Monday Victoria Day Canada Day Simcoe Day Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Boxing Day and the half day immediately before Christmas Day and the half day immediately before New Year's Day, or such day as may be established as a holiday in lieu of any said days by statute, statutory regulation, proclamation or similar authority or by the Board, and any named holiday added to said Education Act or to its regulations and enjoyed by the Board's pupils.
(b) If the Employment Standards Act of Ontario or other statute requires that where a holiday falls on a Sunday the next day following shall be a holiday in lieu thereof, then for the purpose of this Agreement such substituted day shall be regarded as the employee's holiday notwithstanding 10.01(a).
SPECIFIED HOLIDAYS. 11.01 For the purposes of this article the following shall be specified as holidays under this Agreement and "holiday" means: New Year's Day Good Friday Easter Monday Victoria Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Boxing Day and the half day immediately before Christmas Day and the half day immediately before New Year's Day, unless any such days are school days, or such day as may be established as a holiday in lieu of any said days by statute, statutory regulation, proclamation or similar authority or by the Board and any named holiday added to The Education Act of Ontario or to its regulations and enjoyed by the Board's students. If the Board determines that where a holiday falls on a non-working day that a working day not later than the next annual vacation of the employee shall be the holiday in lieu thereof, then for the purpose of this Agreement such substituted day shall be regarded as the employee's holiday notwithstanding the foregoing. It is understood that since the employees are not required to work during the months of July and August, they are not entitled to receive any holiday pay for Canada Day, Simcoe Day or Labour Day.

11.02 A specified holiday shall be considered as commencing at midnight of the day preceding the holiday and ending 12 midnight on the holiday.
11.03 If an employee is required to work on any specified holiday, the employee shall be entitled to receive twice the employee's prorated salary for such work in addition to any holiday pay to which the employee may be entitled.
11.04 An employee shall be entitled to each of the holidays without any loss in pay:
(a) if the employee was not absent from work on the employee's last scheduled work day or shift immediately preceding or the employee's first scheduled work day or shift immediately following such holiday unless such absence was because of an illness or injury and is supported by a physician's certificate to that effect;
(b) if the employee has been instructed to report for work on such holiday and does so;
(c) if the employee was not on strike; or
(d) if the employee was not on a leave of absence without pay for a period of time in excess of ten (10) working days that encompasses the holiday; provided the employee shall not be paid if the employee has not worked in the thirty (30) day period immediately preceding such holiday and is not receiving sick leave pay when such holiday occurs but if the employee is absent for more than such thirty (30) day period and is receiving sick leave pay the employee shall receive pay for such holiday.

SPECIFIED HOLIDAYS. 9.01 All regular employees on the active payroll will receive pay at their regular rate for each of the following holidays: New Year's Day Good Friday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day The work day immediately prior to Christmas Day Christmas Day Boxing Day The work day immediately prior to New Year's Day Two Floater Holidays Remembrance Day
(a) To be eligible for holiday pay in respect of any of the holidays set out in Section 9.01 , an employee must have worked the last regular scheduled work day pre- ceding the holiday and their first regular scheduled work day following the hol- iday.
(b) Notwithstanding the above, the Company may grant reasonable time off the day before or after a specified holiday to employees with one (1) year's service or more, providing a prior request is filed with the Company.
(c) Such time off will only be granted to relieve hardship and will not affect holiday pay.
9.03 It is understood that any employee scheduled, or who agrees to work on any specified holiday, must report to work and work the scheduled hours or forfeit holiday pay. Holi- day pay will be granted if a satisfactory reason is given.
9.04 Holiday pay, as provided in Section 9.01, shall not be considered as days or hours worked for the purpose of computing overtime pay.
9.05 For the purpose of this Article, if any of the above holidays fall on a Sunday, it shall be observed on the following Monday and if any of the above holidays fall on a Saturday, it shall be observed on the Friday preceding.
9.06 In the case of continuous shift operators, for the purposes of this Article, if any of the above holidays fall on an operator's scheduled day off, subject to mutual agreement be- tween the affected employee and the Company to the contrary, the holiday will be ob- served on a date scheduled by the Company falling within 30 days following the holiday. The Company shall provide the employee at least 7 days prior notice of the rescheduled day.
SPECIFIED HOLIDAYS. Each permanent and temporary employee covered by this Agreement is entitled to eleven (11) paid specified holidays regardless of the day on which the holiday occurs, and who has worked their regular shift on their regular work day preceding such holiday and the regular work day succeeding such holiday, or has obtained authorized leave of absence for such work day, the Employer has agreed to pay compensation and provided further that such permanent or temporary employee works on such day if they are scheduled to do so. The holidays to which this will apply are: New Year’s Day; Good Friday; Easter Monday; Victoria Day; Canada Day; Civic Holiday; Labour Day; Thanksgiving Day; Remembrance Day; Christmas Day; Boxing Day. If the Holiday falls within the employee’s annual vacation the employee may take an extra day off (lieu day) or extra day’s pay, within the same calendar year. The decision as to which shall apply must be made by the employee during the respective vacation sign-up for Department and The individual scheduling of lieu days will be on a first request basis and requires mutual agreement of the employee and the respective Manager requirements and scheduling priorities. All permanent and temporary employees covered by this Collective Agreement shall be granted an additional paid holiday called a floater holiday. The individual scheduling of this floating holiday will be on a first request basis and requires mutual agreement of the employee and the respective Manager requirements and scheduling priorities. The following qualifications will apply to the floater holiday:
a) it must be taken during the calendar year failure to take the floater forfeits all entitlements to the holiday the floater holiday will not apply to employees unless they have been employed by the Employer thirty (30) days before the third Monday in February.
