Sick Leave Advance. Short Term Disability Transition
7.7.1.1 Upon becoming ill, permanent employees who have insufficient sick leave credits to accommodate the 10 working day waiting period to be eligible for short term disability benefits will be given an advance up to the required 10 days.
7.7.1.2 Term employees will be advanced the number of sick leave credits they would earn to the end of their appointment to a maximum of 10 days.
Sick Leave Advance. Each individual/small group instruction teacher shall have one year of annual sick leave pursuant to Section 5.011 of this agreement with a minimum of five (5) days of sick leave available at the beginning of employment. If an individual/small group instruction teacher uses all or part of the advanced days of sick leave credit and terminates employment before such sick leave has actually accrued, the individual/small group instruction teacher shall reimburse the Board of Education for the sick leave used but not earned.
Sick Leave Advance. Upon employment, all civilian employees shall be provided an advance on their first year sick leave entitlement. Such twelve (12) day advance shall be allowed in the first year of employment only and may only be utilized in conjunction with on-the-job injury provisions of this Agreement. Advanced credits must be earned during the year and shall not be in addition to normal credits earned at the rate of one (1) day for each month of employment.
Sick Leave Advance. Each teacher shall be advanced five (5) days of sick leave in the event that the teacher’s accumulated balance reaches zero. Such advance may occur more than once during a contract year, subject to the following:
a. The teacher must have the ability to earn the advanced sick leave prior to the expiration of the contract year (earned at a rate of 1-1/4 days per month for full-time teachers).
b. The normal procedure for repaying the advanced sick leave is to utilize earned sick leave immediately earned after the advance. However, in the event that a teacher needs additional sick leave after the advanced five (5) days, days will be authorized provided that the teacher can contractually repay both the five (5) days advanced leave and other days from earned sick leave.
c. In the event that a teacher leaves during the contract year with a negative sick leave balance as a result of advanced or authorized sick leave days, the Board is authorized to adjust any compensation owed to the teacher in order to receive reimbursement for the sick leave days. In the event that a contract year ends with a negative sick leave balance, the Board is authorized to adjust any compensation owed to the teacher in order to receive reimbursement for the sick leave days.
Sick Leave Advance. New employees will have available up to seventy-two (72) hours of sick leave during their first four (4) months of employment. Employee shall request sick leave advance in writing and leave shall be approved by the employee’s supervisor. Any individual utilizing this sick leave will be required to pay back the usage through the regular accrual rate. If the employee leaves before accruing enough sick leave to pay back the credited amount, the amount will be deducted from accrued holiday or vacation leave. If accrued amounts of leave are insufficient to cover the credited usage, a dollar amount equal to the leave taken will be deducted from the employee’s final paycheck.
Sick Leave Advance. Faculty who have exhausted all sick leave and vacation may request to borrow sick leave. Full-time faculty (35 hours) may be permitted to borrow 70 hours of sick leave against future accumulation. If the employee is less than full-time, sick leave will be prorated. The faculty member must provide supporting documentation from a qualified physician.
Sick Leave Advance. Bargaining unit faculty members who earn paid sick leave 43 are also eligible for salary continuance for up to 90 calendar days of absence due to illness 44 through a combination of accrued sick leave and advanced sick leave. Each faculty member 45 employed at 1.0 FTE is entitled to receive a sick-leave-with- pay advance as needed to provide 46 the difference between sick leave earned as of the onset of the illness or injury and 520 hours; 1 faculty employed at less than 1.0 FTE are eligible to receive a sick-leave-with-pay advance 2 proportional to FTE to provide the difference between sick leave earned as of the onset of the 3 illness or injury and a prorate of 520 hours. As sick leave is earned, the amount shall replace 4 any sick leave advanced until all advanced time is replaced with earned time. No more than a 5 520-hour sick leave advance is available during a seven-year period that begins with the first 6 sick leave advance. More than one sick leave advance is possible as long as the total advance 7 does not exceed 520 hours during a seven-year period. 10 of their current contract or appointment except upon written approval of the Xxxxxxx or 11 designee. 13 Qualifying events for sick leave advance are limited to the employee’s own health condition or 14 Parental Leave as described in Section 9 of this Article.
Sick Leave Advance. In the event an employee provides his or her manager with a physician notice which specifies that the employee needs to take a medical leave of absence due to a personal injury or illness or an on-the-job injury or illness and the employee has exhausted all leave balances (sick leave, vacation leave, CTO, etc.). The General Manager may advance 80 hours of sick leave to the employee with the expectation the employee will pay back the advanced hours of sick leave upon their return to work.
Sick Leave Advance. On the first day of regular hire employment, regular hire full-time employees will receive an advanced sick leave credit of forty and forty eight one hundredths (40.48) hours. Advanced hours shall be prorated for part time employees based on allocated Full Time Equivalent (FTE) at the date of hire. Employees will not accrue sick leave until the accruals calculated each pay period per section 17.7.1 equals the advanced sick leave credit (in approximately 11 pay periods). This section shall be implemented as soon as administratively feasible, but no later than September 1, 2016.
Sick Leave Advance. An employee with more than one (1) year of service who has exhausted the employee's sick leave credits shall be allowed to draw upon an advance of a maximum of eighteen (18) days sick leave provided that there is medical certification of a reasonable expectation of the employee's return to work in the near future. This sick leave advance shall be repaid by the employee upon the employee’s return to duty through the employee’s normal monthly accumulation. If an employee is able to return to work and then either resigns or is terminated for just cause before the advance is repaid, the individual shall be responsible for repaying the remainder of the advance.
