Unpaid Personal Leaves. The Board may grant leaves of absence without pay or benefits for personal reasons. The employee may elect to retain benefits by paying the District rate. The request for leave without pay should specify the conditions of the leave, including length of the leave. Long- term leaves (not to exceed one year) may be granted for the following purposes: study, travel, other employment, restoration of health, or disabilities in the immediate family. In order to avoid the disruption of professional responsibilities, advance written notice is requested whenever possible. The request for leave shall be submitted to the Superintendent/President.
Unpaid Personal Leaves. (a) If, in the Board's determination, a suitable substitute employee is available, an employee with no less than two (2) years' seniority may each year be allowed up to two (2) personal leaves of absence without pay, to a maximum of ten (10) total work days, non-accumulative from year to year. From November 1 through spring break, as long as proper notice is given, such leave time will not be unreasonably withheld.
Unpaid Personal Leaves. Other leaves may be granted under the conditions of this leave policy. Unpaid Personal leaves of absence for non-medical reasons shall not automatically be granted for more than two (2) consecutive years. Requests for such leaves shall be submitted, in writing, to the Superintendent.
Unpaid Personal Leaves. (a) Effective upon the completion of the probationary period, and subject to operational requirements, Employees will be granted 2 days off without pay and no loss of benefits, each calendar year, upon the Employee’s request with a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice.
Unpaid Personal Leaves. Employees who are not eligible for paid sick leave, paid bereavement leave, FMLA leave, or other leaves of absence specified above, may request (in writing) an unpaid personal leave of absence. The granting or denial of any such unpaid personal leave of absence shall be in the Employer’s discretion; and neither the granting nor denial of any such unpaid personal leave in any given case shall constitute any practice or precedent with respect to any other case. Any such personal leave, if granted, shall not be for any period in excess of one (1) year; and the renewal or extension (if any) of any such unpaid personal leave shall also be in the Employer’s discretion.
Unpaid Personal Leaves. Personal leaves of absence without pay for reasons other than specifically provided elsewhere in this Agreement, but not for the purpose of looking for, seeking or securing work elsewhere, may be granted by the Employer upon receiving application by an employee under such conditions as may be established by the Employer in writing at the time such leave is granted, including rights of reinstatement. When a personal leave under this provision is granted for not more than ninety (90) calendar days, the individual shall be entitled, at the termination of such leave, to be reinstated at the same step and type of position the individual held at the time the leave was granted. If the employee refuses to accept reemployment upon termination of such leave, the employee’s right to reemployment ceases.
