Emergency School Closures. 33.1 When the Superintendent closes the schools due to an epidemic, weather, or other reason (school closure days), the following provisions apply to these days: Situation 1st shift 2nd/3rd shift School closed for entire day* Staff members do not report and this day is counted as one calamity day (refer to 33.2 and 33.3) Staff members do not report and this day is counted as one calamity day (refer to 33.2 and 33.3) One-hour delayed start+ Staff members report on time Staff members report on time and work entire work day assignment. Two-hour delayed start+ Staff members report on time Staff members report on time and work entire work day assignment One-hour early release+ Staff members dismissed one hour early Staff members do not report to work and this day is counted as one calamity day Two-hour early release+ Staff members dismissed two hours early Staff members do not report early to work and this day is counted as one calamity day *Any unit member required to work by their Supervisor will be compensated for all extra hours worked. Overtime rates apply to all hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours worked per week. +Any unit member required to work by their Supervisor during delayed start or early release time, the unit member will be compensated for the additional time worked. 33.2 There will be no reduction in pay the first three (3) school closure days if those days are not required to be made up. 33.3 For any school closure days in excess of three, the unit member has four options: A. Work the entire required number of hours for the day. B. Take a personal day. C. Take a vacation day. D. Receive a pay dock day. Note: Beyond day three (3), at the superintendent’s discretion, in cases of inclement weather and/or other emergencies, the staff may not be required to report and shall be paid. 33.4 The provisions contained herein shall not preclude the use of any other leave provisions contained in this Negotiated Agreement. Nor shall these calamity day provisions allow for double payment whenever a calamity is declared concurrent to any other scheduled or unscheduled leave.
Emergency School Closures. When schools are closed or opening is delayed due to inclement weather or other emergency, the District shall use various media sources to notify employees by 6:30 a.m. of the closure. Employees will be paid for their scheduled work hours and all accompanying benefits for the actual hours schools are closed, operating hours are reduced, or opening is delayed. In the event that the closure is later determined to be a state or national emergency and the District is not required to reschedule the lost day, employees who were notified not to report to work will suffer no loss of pay or benefits for that day. When closure or delayed opening is not determined to be a state or national emergency, employees who were not required to report to work shall not be paid for the day. However, such employees shall be allowed to make up lost wages for the day by the use of any available paid leave, including incidental leave if authorized by the superintendent, except sick leave, or by rescheduling their work with their supervisor. Twelve (12) month employees who did not report to work may reschedule the day so long as the additional hours do not result in overtime.
Emergency School Closures. In the event it is determined by the District that a school/building is closed, or a portion of the building is closed, teachers will be released at the dis- cretion of the District without loss in pay. When a school/building is closed after the start of the school day the teach- ers will be dismissed upon the safe dispersal of the students at the discre- tion of the District without loss in pay.
Emergency School Closures. The District Superintendent/President or his/her designee shall have the sole authority to determine whether to direct unit members to go home or not come to work. When the majority of classified employees are given direction from the District to go home or not come to work, employees required by the District to perform services will accrue the same number of hours of vacation for the number of hours of work required up to 7.5 hours. Emergency or scheduled days off will be calculated at 7.5 hours. Required overtime will be paid at the appropriate rate.
Emergency School Closures. If schools are closed on an instructional day for students, employees scheduled to work shall have the opportunity to work that day. If the Board determines that a school or department shall be closed for employees, affected employees shall be granted an automatic leave of absence with pay.
Emergency School Closures. In the event that the District temporarily closes one (1) or more of the schools of the District for one (1) or more days of the contract year, the affected employees will be granted leave at no deduction in salary or benefits, provided that the students are not required to make up the day(s) and provided further that this provision shall not apply to a withholding of services by employees for any reason.

Emergency School Closures. Procedures for Emergency School Closures, including Snow Days, shall be in accordance with the Juneau School District Staff Handbook, or policy memorandum that may supersede that handbook, provided however that such memorandum is distributed in advance directly to Bargaining Unit Members.
Emergency School Closures. 10.13.1 If all district schools and facilities are closed due to emergency or inclement weather, only employees designated by the District will report to work. 10.13.2 If one or more, but not all, district schools and facilities are closed due to emergency or inclement weather, employees at non-impacted schools and facilities will report for assignment and perform their assigned duties. 10.13.3 Attendance of non-designated classified employees shall not be required when student attendance is not required due to emergency or inclement weather closure. If the Board requires students to make up days lost due to emergency or inclement weather, then all non-designated classified employees shall be required to fulfill their regular duties on those days, compensated at their rate of pay. 10.13.4 Employees designated to report when all district school and facilities are closed due to emergency or inclement weather will receive regular pay plus additional paid compensatory time on an hour-by-hour basis for time worked during the first day of emergency closure during a work year. Employees who report to work prior to the District providing reasonable notification will be compensated for two (2) hours at their regular rate of pay. At the District’s sole discretion, those employees may be required to perform duties during the two (2) hours. 10.13.5 Employees not designated to report when all district schools and facilities are closed due to emergency or inclement weather will not lose pay for the first regular employee workday missed. 10.13.6 If all district schools and facilities are closed for more than one (1) day due to emergency closure or inclement weather during the employees’ work year, employees will have the following options: a. report for work if the District determines work is available, or b. take paid vacation, or c. take paid personal leave, or d. take a pay deduction, or e. take a non-contract day. 10.13.7 The District, in its sole discretion, may schedule make-up time for employees who miss more than one (1) workday due to emergency closure or inclement weather. Notwithstanding any other section of this Agreement, no overtime pay will be earned for such make-up time.
Emergency School Closures. During closure of an entire school site during a regular instructional day because of emergency situations, such as weather conditions or power outages, classified personnel stationed at that site shall not be required to remain at work or report to work if certificated personnel and students are sent or allowed to go home or are not required to report to work or school except when needed for emergency purposes. Employees who are asked to work when others are released shall be compensated at time and ½ for actual hours worked extra. District employees stationed at a site that is closed shall be relocated to another site. (See Appendix I) If a power outage occurs during the daylight hours, employees can be required to work up to, but not exceeding four (4) hours while power remains off. If a power outage occurs after dark, employees can be required to work up to, but not exceeding, two (2) hours while power remains off.
