Holidays and Personal Leave. A. Bargaining unit employees are eligible for paid holiday benefits under the same terms and conditions as the City’s Administrative Officers, which may be amended from time to time.

Holidays and Personal Leave. A. There shall be ten paid holidays and two half-day paid holidays per year for members of the Bargaining Unit. Employees will recognize holidays under the following schedule: New Year’s Day Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day President’s Day Memorial Day Juneteenth Independence Day Labor Day Veteran’s Day Thanksgiving Day Day after Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day ½ day Christmas Eve and ½ day New Year’s Eve
B. Employees shall be granted twenty-four (24) hours per year of Personal Leave per calendar year to provide for personal business. Requested Personal Leave shall be granted only upon approval and at the discretion of the Chief of Police or designee. Personal leave may not be carried over from one year to the next. No payment will be made upon separation of employment for any reason for any unused Personal Leave.
C. Holidays shall be observed on the day that the holiday actually occurs, and employees shall be compensated based on the actual holiday, except that employees assigned to units that follow administrative or school schedules may observe the holiday on the day observed by that unit (e.g., a Monday for a holiday that falls on a Sunday, etc.), provided that no employee shall receive any combination of holiday leave or holiday pay that exceeds that which is provided in Section 10.H below.
D. In the event that one of the above holidays occurs during the course of an employees’ vacation, then the employee’s vacation may be extended by, or the hours of vacation leave required for the time off may be reduced by, said holiday hours, at the employee’s option.
E. In the event that one of the above named holidays occurs while an employee is on sick leave, the employee shall receive holiday leave and shall not be charged sick leave for that day.
F. Employees performing work on holidays shall be paid their straight hourly rate for all hours worked on the holiday, in addition to the holiday pay. Holiday pay shall not be counted as hours worked for overtime purposes.
G. If a holiday falls on an employee’s regularly scheduled day off and the employee does not work on the holiday, the employee shall be compensated at straight time for the holiday.
H. It is further agreed that a holiday will equal 8.5 hours, except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, which will equal twelve (12) hours for those employees who actually work twelve hours on either of those two (2) holidays. Holidays and Personal Leave. Section 27.1 Holidays And Personal Leave All employees, except as listed in Section 22.2, shall be entitled to the following paid holidays:

Holidays and Personal Leave. (a) All employees covered by this Agreement shall receive a full day’s pay at their straight time rate of pay for the holidays listed below, or days celebrated as such, regardless of the day of the week upon which such holiday shall fall: New Year’s Day Labor Day Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx Day Columbus Day President’s Day Veteran’s Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Memorial Day Day after Thanksgiving Independence Day Christmas Eve after 12:00 noon Christmas Day
(b) Each employee shall have two (2) days of personal leave in each contract year to be taken at such time as the employee may elect, with the prior consent of his department head, which such consent shall not be unreasonably withheld. Effective July 1, 1997, in consideration of consolidating Washington’s and Lincoln’s Birthdays into President’s Day, each employee will receive an additional one (1) day of personal leave, bringing the total number of personal days in each contract year to three (3) days. Employees will receive pro-rated personal days during their first year of employment, as follows: If employee is hired: July 1 - August 31 Three (3) personal days September 1 - October 31 Two (2) personal days November 1 - December 31 One (1) personal day Personal days may not be used by a new employee while that person is on probation. Personal days may not be accumulated from year to year.
(c) In the event the Mayor proclaims any day as an additional day off for all City employees, any employee covered by this Agreement who must work because of the nature of his job, shall be granted a compensatory day off at a time mutually convenient to the employee and his department head.
(d) Employees shall normally be entitled to at least three (3) days prior notice of any holiday on which they will be required to work.
Holidays and Personal Leave.
A. All regular full-time employees on a salary basis shall receive the following paid holiday:
1. Any Dual Role Employee that works a scheduled shift on a holiday listed below, shall be paid at the rate of 1.65 per hour. The employee shall only receive this rate of pay when working (not applicable to sick leave, PL, Comp, Vacation, etc.).
2. Any Single Role Employee that works a scheduled shift on a holiday listed below, shall be paid at the rate of 1.5 per hour. The employee shall only receive this rate of pay when working (not applicable to sick leave, PL, Comp, Vacation, etc.).
3. Any dual role employee whom is called out to work on a city recognized holiday shall be compensated as per Article VII, Section D.

B. PERSONAL LEAVE DAYS
1. Fifty-Three hour Dual Role employees shall be entitled to two (2) twenty-four
Holidays and Personal Leave. Section 8.1: Holidays The following holidays shall be recognized and observed as paid holidays for employees: New Years Eve New Year’s Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Day after Thanksgiving Christmas Eve Christmas Day When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday will be observed as the paid holiday. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be observed as the paid holiday. For those years in which Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve shall not be designated as holidays. In such years, employees shall instead receive 2 floating holidays. Floating holidays must be used within the calendar year and may not be carried over to the following year. Floating holidays shall be taken at the discretion of the employee, provided that the Division Superintendent approves the scheduled date. Such approval will not be unreasonably denied.
Holidays and Personal Leave. A. Members on a regular 40 hour shift will be eligible for legal holidays and personal leave under the same terms as other Group II Mangers under the citywide Management Performance and Compensation Plan. Effective May 7, 2013, holidays and personal leave for the July 2012 through June 2013 Fiscal Year will be restored to these levels.
B. Effective July 1, 2015, managers in a 40-hour shift assignment on July 1 will be eligible for an award of 40 hours of Management Leave each fiscal year. This leave must be used within the fiscal year awarded and while the employee is in the 40-hour assignment. If the employee transfers to a 56-hour assignment during the fiscal year, the management leave will not transfer to the new assignment, however the employee will also not be required to reimburse the City for management leave already taken. Management leave shall otherwise be subject to the same terms as management leave awarded to other Group II Managers under the citywide Management Performance and Compensation Plan, including a prorated award of leave for appointment to a 40-hour shift assignment during a fiscal year.
C. Shift personnel will accrue holidays and personal leave days at the combined rate of one twelve (12) hour day per month. Effective May 7, 2015, holiday accruals for the July 2012 through June 2013 Fiscal Year will be restored to these levels.
D. If an employee’s accrued holiday bank exceeds 156 hours, the City shall have the option either to require the employee to take the excess holiday time off or to pay the employee for the excess hours at straight time. The option of time off or pay in lieu of holiday hours shall be at the sole discretion of the City. Employees who are bargaining unit members on the date of ratification of the 2012-2015 Agreement shall not be subject to the holiday accrual cap. The maximum holiday accrual for these employees will be the number of hours that they had in their respective banks effective the end of the first full pay period after ratification.
