RESIDENT/FELLOW RESPONSIBILITIES. The House Officer Agrees to: Read and understand the expectations, standards and obligations set forth in the House Officer Agreement. Cooperate fully with the Program and Hospital in coordinating and completing RRC and ACGME accreditation submissions and activities, including the legible and timely completion of patient medical/dental records, charts, reports, duty hours, statistical, operative and procedure logs, faculty and Program evaluations, and/or other documentation required by the RRC, ACGME, Hospital, Department, and/or Program. Further, agree to cooperate fully in any investigations, discovery, and defense that arise. Failure to cooperate may result in personal liability. Failure to complete records on time may result in suspension from the Program until such records are completed or termination from the Program. Abide by the rules, regulations, procedures and policies of the Program, Tufts MC and any hospital or other facility while on a rotation at such hospital or facility, as they may be amended from time to time. Comply with the applicable GME and Program specific duty hour policies, including accurate reporting of duty hours to the Medical Center through New Innovations. Comply with the Medical Center’s policies and procedures regarding confidentiality of medical records and patient information, including policies restricting access to medical records. Permit the Hospital to obtain from and provide to all proper parties any and all information as required or authorized by law or by any accreditation body. Develop a personal program of self-study and professional growth with guidance from the teaching staff. Comply with institutional requirements for annual health and safety training, vaccinations and TB testing. Participate as requested in all mandatory training, including, without limitation, training in blood borne and airborne pathogens, risk management and any other educational training requested by OSHA, JCAHO, or per Hospital policy. Provide patient care, under appropriate supervision, as assigned by the training program director or his/her designee, consistent with the educational goals of the program and the highest standards of patient care ("patient care" includes responsibility for associated documentation in the medical record, which should be completed in a timely fashion, and attendance at patient care rounds as assigned). RESIDENT/FELLOW RESPONSIBILITIES. Throughout the residency/fellowship program, trainees must: • Develop a personal program of self-study and professional growth with guidance from the teaching staff in order to acquire and maintain throughout his or her professional career the knowledge, clinical skills, attitudes, and behaviors required to fulfill all objectives of the educational program and to achieve the competencies deemed appropriate for his or her chosen discipline. • Make the patient’s welfare his or her first priority by participating in safe, effective and compassionate patient care under supervision, commensurate with his or her level of advancement and responsibility. • Participate fully in the educational and scholarly activities of his or her program, all mandatory GME conferences, and participate in in-house and home night-call in conformity with institutional guidelines. • Meet and attain GME curricular objectives and make satisfactory progress in meeting those objectives as established by the Program Director and/or as stated in the program Handbook. For ACGME accredited programs these curricular objectives include the ACGME six core competencies: patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communications skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice; • Assume responsibility for teaching, peer evaluating, and supervising other trainees and students, providing candid and constructive feedback on their performance to encourage quality improvement. • Participate in institutional programs and activities involving the medical staff, work in interprofessional teams, and adhere to established practices, procedures and policies of the Graduate Medical Education Program, applicable program Handbook, and of all affiliated hospitals and clinical training sites, including the timely completion of medical records. • Abide by the University of Tennessee policies, procedures, and work rules, including XX 0000 – Code of Conduct, the Policy on Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, and Stalking, GME policies, the individual program Handbook, information security, as well as the by-laws of affiliated hospitals and clinical training sites. • Assume responsibility for assuring their fitness for practice including management of their time before, during and after clinical assignments and recognition of impairment, including illness, fatigue, and substance use (see GME Policy #680). • Participate in institutional and hospital committees a...

Services provided by the University begin on the official check-in dates for the specific area and include access to the assigned building and room.
