SICK LEAVE (Full time bargaining unit members in paid status shall be credited with ninety-six (96) hours of sick leave per fiscal year. 14.2.1 Less than full time and/or less than twelve (12) month bargaining unit members in paid status shall be credited sick leave on a pro-rated basis based on their assignment per fiscal year. 14.2.2 Annual sick leave will be credited in advance on July 1st of each fiscal year. 14.2.3 Unused sick leave may be accrued from one year to the next. 14.2.4 A bargaining unit member may use up to half of their annual sick leave accrual to attend to an illness or injury of the bargaining unit member and/or his/her immediate family. 14.2.5 After all earned sick leave as provided in Article 14.2 or 14.2.1 has been used and additional absence due to illness or injury is necessary, extended sick leave of up to one hundred (100) days per a twelve (12) month period shall be provided to bargaining unit members. SICK LEAVE (Full time ranked tenured faculty, full-time ranked tenure- track faculty, and full-time faculty holding term appointments (which for this Article includes full-time-reduced load faculty) shall receive sick leave up to a maximum of forty (40) hours. Xxxx leave will be credited on the first day of employment and thereafter on the first day of each academic year. If an employee commences employment after the first day of the academic year, sick leave will be prorated accordingly. A. For full-time studio faculty members, one hour for each contact hour or office hour missed; B. For full-time art history/general education faculty members, two hours for each contact hour and one hour for each office hour missed.
SICK LEAVE (Full. Time)‌ Any member eligible for State Universities Retirement System (SURS) long term disability leave and has used all of his or her accumulated sick leave shall be paid one-half (1/2) his or her salary for a maximum of sixty- (60) calendar days or until SURS begins disability payments, whichever comes first. 1. Upon hire, the employee shall be credited with twelve (12) sick days. After the first year of employment, sick leave shall be earned at one (1) day per month. Sick leave is to be used for personal illness or disability, or because of a medical reason related to the employee or employee’s family defined as spouse, spouse- substitute, children, siblings, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, or those for whom the employee has legal guardianship. Sick leave may be taken in fifteen (15) minute increments. 2. Sick leave in cases of serious illness to family shall be limited to five (5) days. If extenuating circumstances arise, the employee may use additional sick leave providing the employee can substantiate the need with a doctor's statement. 3. The employee will notify his or her immediate supervisor when using sick leave unless, due to the nature of the illness, the employee seeks privacy and confidentiality and notifies the Human Resources Department instead. The Human Resource Department will advise the supervisor within his or her right to know, but will protect the confidence of the employee. 4. A doctor's statement substantiating illness and/or verifying ability to return to work may be required by the College. Such examination costs will be paid by the Board. 5. No payment for unused sick time accrued will be made. If legislation during the term of this contract requires the College to pay employees for unused accrued sick days, the maximum which may be accrued for payment is one hundred- eighty (180) days.
SICK LEAVE (Full. TIME EMPLOYEES ONLY) 16.01 Sick leave shall be for the sole purpose of protecting employees in the event of illness. a. Upon completion of the probationary period, an employee shall be granted one (1) day of sick leave credits for every full month then remaining in the calendar year to a maximum of six (6) days of sick leave credits. b. On January 1 of each year, each seniority employee then employed shall be credited with six (6) days of sick leave credits. c. An employee shall be entitled to have those days absent due to sickness from his/her scheduled shift paid for at his/her normal rate for those hours he/she thus misses, so long as he/she has sick leave credits. The amount of sick leave credits shall be reduced by one (1) for each day for which the employee claims such payments. d. In February of each year, each employee shall receive a fifty per cent (50%) payout of those sick leave credits unused during the previous year at his/her then existing rate of pay. e. The Employer reserves the right to request a Doctor's note confirming his/her reason for absence. Doctor's notes required by the Home shall be paid for in accordance with current legislation. All annual medicals, if required by legislation and not covered by OHIP, shall be paid for by the requesting party. A Doctor's note requested under Article 12.03 for full-time employees shall not be a note requested by the Employer, but by the employee. 16.02 If an employee is absent from work because of an injury that is compensable under the Worker's Compensation Act, he/she shall not utilize any outstanding sick leave credits. 16.03 No sick leave shall be paid if a third party is paying income allowance (e.g., Workers' Compensation, insurance pay for injuries suffered in an automobile accident).
SICK LEAVE (Full time An employee who is absent from work for whatever reason and whose date of return to work is not established, shall give his/her supervisor or alternate notice of their intention to return to work on the following basis: i) for an employee working in a department that operates only Monday to Friday on day shifts, the employee will notify their supervisor at least one (1) hour prior to the scheduled end of the day shift the day before the day on which the employee is planning on returning; or ii) for an employee working in a department operating twenty-four (24) hours a day the employee will notify the manager or alternate at least six (6) hours in advance of the shift on which the employee is planning on returning. Failure to notify their manager or alternate in accordance with the above will result in the employee being sent home without pay.

Extended sick leave compensation shall not exceed fifty (50) percent of the bargaining unit member's regular salary except as provided in the District's Short-term Disability Plan. (Contact District Human Resources Benefits Office for specific information.) 14.2.5.1 A bargaining unit member who has exhausted all paid leaves due to medical reasons shall be placed on the 39 month reemployment list and is subsequently reemployed within 39 months, shall have all rights, benefits and seniority restored upon reemployment. 14.2.5.2 Extended sick leave is not cumulative from one twelve month period to the next. 14.2.6 If a pattern in sick leave use becomes apparent, the District may require a statement of verification from a medical care provider.
SICK LEAVE (Full time employees shall earn sick leave at a rate of five (5) days per month for the first three (3) months of employment and thereafter up to fifteen (15) days each year accumulative to one hundred eighty (180) days. Part-time employees (employees working less than 1,850 hours a year) will receive sick leave at a rate of nine (9) days per year accumulative to one hundred (100) days. Employees beginning employment on July 1 and before January 1 will be granted all of their eligible sick leave for the remainder of the contract year. Employees beginning employment on January 1 through April 1 will be granted half of their eligible sick leave for the remainder of the contract year. Employees beginning employment after April 1 will be granted one-fourth of their eligible sick leave for the remainder of the contract year. If an employee resigns from employment before the end of a contract year, the employee shall only be eligible for a pro-rata credit for sick leave earned. In the event that the employee would have a negative balance after the pro-rate of the current year’s earnings, such employee shall have a pro-rated adjustment on the employee’s final payroll check with the exception of an employee who has experienced a catastrophic illness or injury. Sick leave shall be used for personal illness or illness of child (which includes stepchild, biological, adopted, and xxxxxx children) or spouse. Up to five (5) days of sick leave per year may be used for the care of a parent or grandchild. In addition, employees who have worked 12 months or more for the district can use up to 20 days per year of the employee’s sick leave as sick or safety leave as per Minnesota Statute section 181.943 for an adult child, spouse, sibling, parent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandchild, grandparent, or step-parent provided the employee has unused sick time at the time of such absence. In the event the employee does not complete the years of service and has used advanced sick leave, the employee’s last paycheck will be deducted equal to the advanced sick leave used. The following positions receive one (1) day of sick leave for each month of the current ten/eleven (10/11) month position with an accumulation of sick leave up to one hundred fifteen (115) days. Provided these positions maintain an employment of ten/eleven (10/11) months, the employees in these positions will maintain their current sick leave benefits.
