Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. Each full-time employee shall be entitled to sick leave with pay in accordance with the following provisions:
10.3.1.1 Sick leave shall accrue in an amount equal to the number of hours worked, excluding overtime, multiplied by a factor of 0.04616. Paid leave for holidays, vacation, compensatory time off, or other paid leave shall be considered time worked for purposes of this section.
Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. 14.01 Sick leave is for the sole and only purpose of protecting an employee from loss of income when they are absent from work because of illness or accident not compensable under Workers’ Compensation.
14.02 After completion of 450 hours, each full-time employee shall be credited with 3 days (22.5 hours).
14.03 A full-time employee shall be credited with seven and one-half (7.5) hours for each one hundred and fifty (150) paid hours of employment to a total maximum accumulation of two hundred and twenty-five (225) hours.
14.04 An employee who is sick on a scheduled workday will be paid for the scheduled day missed, if sick leave credits are available, and such time will be deducted from her/his accumulated sick day credits.
14.05 A medical certificate from the employee’s physician (or nurse practitioner or midwife, in the context of the employee’s pregnancy) may be required when an employee is ill or injured and missed two (2) consecutive shifts of work, in situations where the Employer has reason to suspect abuse, or where a pattern of sick leave exists. The cost of such certificates shall be paid by the Employer.
14.06 Annually, the Employer shall advise each employee in writing of the amount of sick leave accrued to his/her credit.
14.07 An employee who will be absent on the afternoon or night shift due to personal illness must notify the Employer at least three (3) hours prior to the commencement of the shift unless impossible. An employee who will be absent on the day shift due to personal illness must notify the Employer at least two (2) hours prior to the commencement of the shift unless impossible. Late notice does not cause forfeiture of income protection.
Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. A full-time employee shall be eligible for paid sick leave for up to one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days when he/she is unable to perform his/her regular duties as a result of illness, injury or becoming disabled. Time spent on modified hours shall be counted as sick leave. Time spent on modified duties may be counted as sick leave, depending on the severity of the modifications. It is important that the modified duties not present a hazard to the employee’s health and safety. In the event that an employee provides a medical certificate requesting modified hours or modified duties the University reserves the right to request that the employee provide a Workplace Capabilities Form completed by the employee’s physician. Where an employee provides a medical certificate requesting modified duties or modified hours of work for a period greater than four (4) weeks, the employee will be required to supply a Workplace Capabilities Form completed by his/her physician. The Workplace Capabilities Form will be submitted to Human Resource Services who will consult with the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator and appropriate medical consultants used for this purpose. Where a modified duties or modified hours of work arrangement is implemented, progress towards a full return to regular duties will be reviewed by the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator, the appropriate manager and the employee. Employees are entitled to have the Grievance Chairperson and the CAW Health and Safety representative present at meetings to discuss modified duties or modified hours programs and progress towards a full return to regular duties. Modified hours and/or modified duty arrangements shall not normally exceed three (3) months in duration.
8.2.1 Where it is determined that the employee is able to return to regular duties and has a reoccurrence of the same or related injury, illness or disability, then the following shall apply:
(i) if the return is for at least forty (40) consecutive working days, then the one hundred and eighty (180) calendar day count shall be reset, and the employee shall be eligible for one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days of sick leave in the event of illness, injury or becoming disabled; or
(ii) if the return is for less than forty (40) consecutive working days then the employee shall return to sick leave and the one hundred and eighty (180) calendar day count shall continue from the point at which it was suspended by the employee=s return...
Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. 16.01 All full-time employees covered by this agreement shall be eligible for a sick leave credit of eight (8) hours for each one hundred and sixty (160) hours worked. Sick leave credits are granted for the sole purpose of protecting an employee against loss of income due to illness or accident and are granted subject to the conditions set out in this article. Sick leave shall be cumulative to a ceiling of three hundred and sixty (360) hours.
16.02 Where an employee is absent as a result of sickness or accident and is receiving the Weekly Indemnity benefit or Long Term disability insurance under the Group Insurance Plan for the employees of the Association, the employee shall receive from the Association the difference between his regular pay and the amount being received from the Group insurance to the maximum amount in aggregate of the dollar value of the existing sick leave credit.
16.03 When the employee is receiving benefits from WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board), then at the employee’s option s/he will receive the difference between his/her pay and the Board’s award to the maximum amount in aggregate of the existing sick leave credit.
16.04 If an employee on authorized vacation or on leave of absence is unable to return to his/her employment when scheduled to do so because of illness or injury not covered by WSIB such employee will be entitled to use any accumulated and unused sick leave standing to his/her credit.
16.05 The number of hours an employee is absent due to illness or accident shall be deducted from the employee’s sick leave credits in four hour blocks. Where an employee is absent on WSIB or Short Term Disability only the actual hours paid shall be deducted from the sick bank.
16.06 Proof of illness shall be established by submission of a medical certificate on any absence of three (3) days or more duration. If, at any time, the Association has any doubt that the employee is ill, the Association may, at its expense, require proof of sickness by a medical certificate for any such absence. A waiver by the Association of a medical certificate in any case shall not be deemed to establish a precedent and the Association may require the medical certificate at any time during the course of this agreement pursuant to the terms thereof.
16.07 A record of all unused sick leave will be kept by the Association and information from such record shall be provided upon reasonable request of the employee.

Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. All regular full-time employees eligible for the Long Term Disability Income Plan shall be covered by the Sick Leave Policy for Non-Academic Staff which was put into effect April 1, 1963. This staff benefit plan shall continue as in the past unless changed by a recommendation of the Staff Benefits Committee and approved by the Board of Governors.
Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. 26.01 Sick leave is the period of time when an employee is permitted to be absent from work with pay due to:
(a) sickness or injury, rendering her unable to perform her regular duties and is not compensable time under the Workers’ Safety and Insurance Act.
(b) essential, personal, medical and dental appointments which cannot be scheduled outside regularly scheduled working hours.
26.02 After successful completion of the probation period, employees shall accumulate sick leave credit in accordance with the Hospital's Disability Income Plan on the basis of one and one-half (1.5) days credit for each month of service since date of hire. Sick leave shall be subject to the following conditions:
(a) Absence for sickness or accident compensable by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board will not be charged against sick leave credits.
(b) An employee, in all cases of absence due to illness, may be required to produce a medical certificate signed by a duly qualified medical practitioner stating fully the reasons for the absence. Such a medical certificate must be presented prior to a return to work in cases of absence due to illness of three (3) or more scheduled working days.
(c) An employee will not be entitled to sick pay during a leave of absence without pay or during vacation period, subject to Article 24.07.
(d) in the case of an employee who is laid off or separated by reason other than retirement prior to termination of her illness or injury, the payment of sick leave benefits shall cease on the date of layoff or separation when the disability started within the two months preceding the layoff date, and notice of layoff or separation was given prior to the beginning of the disability. In all other situations related to layoff or separation, benefits shall be paid for the lesser of the duration of the disability, the utilization of all accumulated days, or 15 weeks.
(e) If the Employer requires the employee to obtain a medical certificate, the employer shall pay the full cost of obtaining the certificate.
Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees a) In order to qualify for Xxxx Leave an employee must notify the Home at least one hour prior to the beginning of the employee’s scheduled shift.
b) Seniority, vacation entitlement and job security shall continue for disabled employees qualifying for Short Term and Long Term Benefits, subject to the following restrictions: - Vacation Entitlement would continue when the employee qualifies and is receiving Short Term Benefits only; and - A position will be held available for an employee for a period of up to thirty (30) months from the initial date of disability which necessitates continuous absence from employment.
c) The Plan is a non-accumulative, non-gratuity sick leave benefit, with a calendar year allotment of nine (9) days per year per employee credited to each employee on January 1st of each year. At the end of each calendar year, a maximum of one (1) unused day may be added to the next year’s entitlement of nine (9) days per year. The total entitlement per calendar year shall not exceed ten (10) days. New employees beginning employment on/after February 1st will receive a pro-rated allotment of credits for that year.
d) The Plan would provide an employee with seventy-five percent (75%) of weekly earnings for up to seventeen (17) weeks per period of disability, benefits, would commence on the earlier of the: - First day of disability due to an accident, - First day of hospitalization, - Fourth working day of disability due to illness Benefits for those days of disability prior to the coverage commencing under the A.S.O. Plan would be payable under the aforementioned sick leave benefit.
Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. 16.01 Full time employees may accumulate sick leave credits at the rate of one (1) day credit (7.5 hours) for each month of active service to a maximum of twelve (12) days (90 hours). Sick leave credits can be accessed by Full‐time employees in the event of personal illness to retain pay for days absent due to illness to the extent that sick credits are available. Credits must be used in increments of complete days.
16.02 The Employer reserves the right to request a Doctor’s note to support a claim for sick leave greater than one (1) day, if the day is attached to a weekend, or vacation. A note is required for all illness in excess of three (3) calendar days.
16.03 Employees are required to call in two (2) hours in advance of day shift, unless not reasonably possible, and four (4) hours in advance of evening and night shift, unless not reasonable possible. Note – all benefits are available after probation as per current practice.
Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. 21.01 Pay for sick leave is for the sole and only purpose of protecting the employee against loss of regular income when he/she is legitimately unable to work and will be granted on the following basis:
(a) If an employee is absent due to illness for longer than three consecutive working days, a doctor's certificate attesting to such an illness of the employee is required.
(b) The Employer may request a medical certificate after one (1) day’s absence.
21.02 Any employee absenting herself/himself on account of personal illness must notify her/his supervisor or her/his designate before the time she/he would normally report for work.
21.03 Employees disabled may be compensated under the disability income benefit through the C.L.D.C.’s group insurance plan on the fifteen (15th) day of disability.
21.04 On September 1st in each calendar year, full-time employees shall be permitted twenty (20) sick days. If the employee has not been actively employed during the past twelve (12) months, their sick time shall be pro-rated at 1.67 days per month. Full-time employees shall be permitted twenty (20) sick days and shall be able to accrue up to fifty (50) paid days for future use. On September 1st of each year, any full-time employee who is actively employed for the previous twelve (12) months and who has accrued the maximum of fifty (50) days shall be able to cash the unused sick days over and above the maximum accrual for compensation. Compensation shall be equivalent to 15% of the employee’s regular rate of pay.
Sick Leave - Full-Time Employees. Each full-time employee shall receive ten (10) sick leave days or one (1) sick leave day for each month of employment in each work year, whichever is greater, except that full-time building secretaries and media specialists shall receive eleven
