Work Out of Classification. (a) When an employee is assigned for a limited period to perform the duties of a position at a higher level classification for more than ten (10) consecutive calendar days (or the equivalent thereof for alternate or flexible schedules), the employee shall be paid five percent (5%) above the employee’s base rate of pay or the first step of the higher salary range, whichever is greater. When assignments are made to work out-of-classification for more than ten (10) consecutive calendar days (or the equivalent thereof for alternate or flexible schedules), the employee shall be compensated for all hours worked beginning from the first day of the assignment for the full period of the assignment. When an employee is assigned to work out-of- classification pending approval of a reclassification upward, the employee will be paid at the next higher rate of pay or first step of the higher salary range, whichever is greater. Agencies may provide an additional five percent (5%) differential if the work out-of-class would not result in additional compensation for the employee. Agencies must document the reasons for the exception. (b) An employee performing duties out-of-classification for training or developmental purposes shall be informed in writing of the purpose and length of the assignment during which there shall be no extra pay for the work. A copy of the notice shall be placed in the employee’s file. (c) An employee who is underfilling a position shall be informed in writing that they are an underfill, the reasons for the underfill, and the requirements necessary for the employee to qualify for reclassification to the allocated level. Upon gaining regular status and meeting the requirements for the allocated level of the position, the employee shall be reclassified. (d) Assignments of work out-of-classification shall not be made in a manner which will subvert or circumvent the administration of this Article.

Work Out of Classification. An employee who works in a higher classification for longer than five (5) consecutive work days shall receive a temporary salary augmentation during the remainder of the time the employee works out-of-class. The augmentation will be at least two (2) steps but no less than the base rate of the higher classification. Any overtime worked during this period shall be compensated by including the augmentation.
Work Out of Classification. When an employee is required to assume the full responsibilities of a classification which has a salary midpoint that is more than five cents higher than the midpoint of the current class for at least four (4) consecutive hours, he/she shall be compensated at the rate for the higher paid classification for that period.

A driver who performs Class A driving work in a higher classification for four (4) hours or more on any one day will receive a 5% increase to his or her hourly wage. b. Work Out of Classification. The Company may assign employees to perform work out of their regular classifications. A. An employee who is assigned to perform the work of a higher rated classification or level shall be paid the wage rate of the next highest step in the classification and level to which assigned, for all time worked at the higher rate computed to the nearest quarter hour. B. An employee who is working in a higher rated classification shall be granted a step increase after working the required hours set forth in Appendix I. If the employee is subsequently awarded a position in that classification, credit toward step increases shall be given for the total hours worked in the classification. C. By mutual agreement, the parties recognize that there are legitimate business reasons for long term acting assignments that do not circumvent job bidding and posting. The parties also recognize long term acting assignments, if excessive can eventually circumvent job bidding and posting.
