Fire Prevention Bureau. A. The parties agree that prior to assigning an employee to fill a position in the Fire Prevention Bureau, provided the regular work week for said position is forty (40) hours, the Chief shall post a notice of the opening on the Bulletin Boards. Employees within the Department may express interest in the position to the Chief, in writing, within ten (10) days of the date of the posting of the notice. B. The work week for all members assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau shall be forty (40) hours and consist of five eight hour days Monday through Friday. Upon request from a Fire Prevention Bureau member, they may be permitted to work four (4), ten (10) hour days with approval from the Chief. C. The normal work day shall begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. and shall include a one‐half hour interruptible lunch period. The Fire Chief, or individual members of the Bureau, with approval of the Fire Chief, may modify the normal starting time between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The workday shall then continue for eight hours from the starting time and include a one‐half hour interruptible lunch period. Reasonable advanced notice of any modifications from the normal schedule shall be given to the affected party. Any overtime in the Fire Prevention Bureau shall be at the discretion of the Fire Chief or his designee. D. Members of the Fire Prevention Bureau working a forty (40) hour per week schedule, except members assigned to light duty or work hardening programs, shall receive pay in accordance with the corresponding pay step in the next highest rank. (Fire fighters in Step D, E and F shall be placed in Lieutenant Step D; Fire fighters in Step G shall be placed in Lieutenant.; Fire fighters in Step H shall be placed in Lieutenant.) Said adjustment shall be for pay purposes only, and shall not entitle the member to any of the rights or privileges of said higher rank. E. All members of this bargaining unit assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau shall be granted a work day off for the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Presidents’ Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve (as designated by the Mayor) and Christmas Day, provided that any new appointee to the Fire Prevention Bureau who has sold any holidays in advance shall have the option of working said holiday or of reimbursing the City for the holiday(s) through payroll deduction. Fire Prevention Bureau. Assignment to the Fire Prevention Bureau requires three years of service in a Local 689 classification and a three (3) year commitment, whether an employee volunteers or is required through mandatory procedure to serve in the Bureau. An employee may qualify using service with another public agency if the employee has one year of service with the City, and in addition either (a) a total of three years working with a Firefighter II certification or (b) possesses a California State Fire Xxxxxxxx Fire Inspector certification. The Association agrees that if one or more Inspector position remains vacant, through reassignment, promotion, completion of commitment, retirement, or separation, or for a period of eight (8) weeks from posting of the position and no qualified employee volunteers for the position, the City has the right to “civilianize” one of the inspector positions and have that one positions removed from the IAFF Local 689 represented bargaining unit. In this circumstance, Local 689 waives any meet and confer or other rights to contest removal of this position from the bargaining unit. If the remaining two sworn Inspector positions become vacant and there are no volunteers to fill the vacancies, the Fire Chief will select the employee with the lowest department seniority in the rank appropriate for the position among those with at least three years of service in a Local 689 classification.
Fire Prevention Bureau. 1. All members assigned to the Linden Fire Prevention Bureau will receive additional compensation of 6% of their base salary. Said member must be certified as a Uniformed Fire Inspector or Fire Official under the N.J. State Uniform Fire Code (N.J.A.C. 5:71-4.3 - 4.11), and must maintain such certification. The additional compensation will be as follows:
Fire Prevention Bureau. 16.1 It is the intent of this section that personnel assigned to the Bureau shall have the same benefits accorded like rank or pay classification within the Department except as stipulated herein or as may apply to a forty (40) hour per week employee (such as furlough leave). Fire Prevention Bureau. 30.01 The existing Bureau of Fire Prevention in the Division of Fire is hereby maintained. The Bureau shall operate under the supervision of the senior ranking inspector and control of the Fire Chief. 30.02 Inspector(s) assigned to the Bureau of Fire Prevention shall not work less than forty (40) hours of non-firefighting duties per week unless the Safety Director and Chief of Fire determine that the Inspector(s) shall be assigned to the platoon schedules similar to the fire fighting force. The Inspector(s) of the Bureau shall be appointed under Civil Service by the Safety Director on the basis of competitive examination of employees of the Division of Fire to determine their qualifications. Appointments shall continue during good behavior and satisfactory service and Inspector(s) shall not be removed from office except for cause as prescribed by the disciplinary procedures of this Agreement. Inspector(s) also shall be certified as required by the State of Ohio under Ohio Revised Code 3307.07. 30.03 The Director of Public Safety, under the advisement of the Chief of Fire, may temporarily assign Fire Fighters, working a platoon shift to work forty (40) hour weeks to perform fire prevention duties. Said Fire Fighters shall qualify for such duties through successful certification under the Ohio Revised Code and applicable regulations. Temporary assignments shall not exceed one year without an annual review by the Chief of Fire. 30.04 Fire Fighters temporarily assigned to the Bureau shall be compensated at the applicable hourly rate for a Fire Inspector. 30.05 Earned overtime by the Inspector(s) of the Bureau of Fire Prevention beyond that of the normal forty (40) hour workweek shall be governed by the overtime provisions of the Agreement. Emergency overtime hours for Inspector(s) classified as emergency overtime hours shall also be governed by provisions of the Agreement. 30.06 The normal forty hour work week shall be comprised into four ten hour work days per week. The work day shall commence at 7:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. The resulting, non- working fifth day of the normal Monday through Friday work week shall be picked on the basis of seniority within this rank as the Inspector’s off day. Except during vacation times, one inspector shall always be on duty on the day of the week his fellow inspector has chosen to be his weekly off day.
Fire Prevention Bureau. A. Employees permanently promoted to the Fire Prevention Bureau before the ratification of the 2017-2019 contract: The City will offer the opportunity to complete the Fire Inspector I classes, as well as the eighty (80) hour Fire and Arson Investigation classes. These classes will be completed within two (2) years of promotion to the Fire Inspector position. Fire Inspectors will be required to obtain the State of Michigan Certification for Fire Inspector I within three (3) years of hire into the position. Fire Inspector II classes will be offered to Fire Inspectors based on operational needs and fiscal considerations as determined by the Chief. Fire Inspectors may be offered the opportunity to complete Plan Review classes. The Chief will determine if and when a Fire Inspector will be offered the opportunity to take the class based on operational needs and fiscal considerations. The Fire Xxxxxxxx shall be required to complete all of the above-referenced classes within the first year in the position, if he/she has not already done so. The City will pay for the cost of the Fire Prevention Training when approved. Employees attending approved training on duty days will be paid at the regular rate and released from duty for the period of the training. Employees attending approved training on a non-duty day will be paid at regular rate or at the rate of time and one half, whichever is applicable, based on the employee’s hours worked in the 40 hour week. Overtime pay may be paid in cash or in compensatory time at the employee’s request. B. Employees promoted to the Fire Prevention Bureau after the ratification of the 2017-2019 contract: Employees who promote into the Fire Inspector I Classification need to complete the Fire Inspector I class to become a NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI-I) within two (2) years of promotion to the Fire Inspector I position. Employees will have three (3) attempts to pass the Fire Inspector I class. Failure to do so will result in the employee being returned to their previous role. Upon certification as a NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI-I), the employee will be eligible to apply to attend the next available Michigan State Police (80) hour Fire Investigation I School. Prior to attending the Michigan State Police (80) hour Fire Investigation I School, employees need to successfully pass the City of Xxx Arbor suitability review for court testimony (as outlined below). Fire Prevention Bureau. As long as lieutenants continue to be assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau the Village agrees to continue its existing practices with respect to such assignments. Lieutenants will not be assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau for punitive reasons.

Fire Prevention Bureau. Section 31.1 Fire Inspector’s typical assignment of line personnel is 36 months. Alternative assignments of line personnel may be for a period of 24 to 36 months. The alternative length of assignment is to be agreed upon by the City, Affected employee and Local 2545. Assignment shall be made, if possible on a staggered basis. Based upon organizational needs, the City may elect to extend the incumbent assignment for up to 12 additional months; subject to the approval of the City, affected Employee and the Union. 31.1. a To be eligible for assignment to Fire Inspector an individual must be a Xxxxxxxx Firefighter Level 4 or greater, or Xxxxxxxx Fire Lieutenant and possess the ability to obtain and maintain an ICC Fire Inspector 1 Certificate. Candidate must annually complete the mandated RFTD training. 31.1. b Selection process for Fire Inspector will consist of an adequate sized pool of a minimum of two (2) eligible candidates will participate in the testing process.
Fire Prevention Bureau. Subject to Sections 10.2 and 10.3 above, should it be necessary in the Village’s judgment to establish individual schedules for employees assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau departing from the normal work day, normal work week, or the normal work cycle, or to change the shift schedule of an employee or employees, the Village will give, if practicable, at least 24 hours’ advance notice of such change to all employees whose normal work day, normal work week, and/or normal work cycle is changed. Employees shall not be required to alter their normally scheduled hours of work without their consent in order to prevent such employees from being eligible for overtime pay. Notwithstanding the foregoing, flextime work schedules for employees assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau shall be subject to the mutual agreement of the employee and the Fire Chief or his designee.
