Temporary Upgrading. An employee temporarily assigned to perform work in excess of two (2) hours [in minimum half hour segments] in any tour of duty, in a higher rated classification than that to which the employee is usually assigned, shall be paid according to the following:
(a) When an employee is currently classified in Salary Groups 1 - 5, fifteen dollars and fifty cents ($15.50) per tour.
(b) When an employee is currently classified in Salary Groups 6-13, seventeen dollars and fifty cents ($17.50) per tour.
(c) When an employee is upgraded to Technical Producer, Director/Camera or Production Editor, twenty-one dollars and fifty cents ($21.50) per tour.
(d) When an employee agrees to be temporarily assigned by the Authority to perform work outside the bargaining unit, the salary shall be agreed upon by the employee and the Authority in accordance with the Authority’s Policy on Temporary Upgrades (HR 208).
(e) Operations Technicians in Salary Group 6 who, for a minimum of thirty (30) consecutive minutes in a tour of duty, actively perform in rapid succession the duties of three or more technical functions, as herein listed, during the course of “live” or “live-to- tape” studio productions, will receive an upgrade in accordance with (b) above. The technical functions to which this article applies are: video switcher; audio mixer; robotic camera; character generator; still store; videotape/videodisc machines. The two (2) hour provision contained in Article 15.11 will not apply in this case.
15.11.1 When an employee in a classification of Group 8 or higher, or who is identified as senior, coordinator, (other than production coordinator and administrative coordinator), director or crew chief, is assigned to train
15.11.2 Nothing in this Agreement shall entitle an employee to a temporary upgrade for directing the work of new and/or less experienced employees unless authorized in writing by his or her Supervisor.
15.11.3 When an employee is assigned to develop and/or present a formal training program to new and/or less experienced employee(s), he or she shall receive a temporary upgrade in accordance with Article 15.11.
15.11.4 Article 15.11 shall not be used for the purpose of reducing the number of employees in the classification to which an employee is upgraded. At the time of such assignment, an employee shall be verbally advised of the temporary upgrading and this shall be recorded on the employee’s time sheets.
Temporary Upgrading. Employees shall be considered to be on temporary transfer, and subject to the following wage policies, when they are temporarily upgraded.
(i) to fill a vacancy in a regular job during the posting period.
(ii) to increase the number of employees otherwise required on a particular job in order to cope with a special temporary condi- tion.
(iii) to fill a new job which has been established on the ladder chart to cover a special temporary condition.
(iv) to fill a temporary vacancy which may subsequently occur as a result of the original temporary upgrading outlined in (a), (b) and (c) above. No change in rate shall be made for temporary upgrading to a higher wage classification for two consecutive days or less. For temporary upgrading to a higher wage classification exceeding two consecutive days, employees shall receive an adjustment as if they were regularly upgraded, retroactive to the first day of the temporary transfer. Where the period of temporary upgrading exceeds the time for a step- rate increase on the new job, temporary employees shall be considered for a step-rate increase as outlined in Section 10 above. When employees are temporarily upgraded to the same job they held previously in a higher wage group, they shall be paid the equivalent of the final rate they received while on that higher job. This does not include rates received while on substitution or temporary transfer.
Temporary Upgrading. 14.1 When the Authority temporarily assigns an employee to perform work in a higher classification than that to which the employee is usually assigned, for a minimum of one (1) workday, the employee shall be paid an upgrade of twenty-two dollars and fifty cents ($22.50) per day.
14.2 When an employee agrees to be temporarily assigned by the Authority to perform work outside of the bargaining unit, the salary shall be agreed upon by the employee and the Authority in accordance with the Authority’s Policy on Temporary Upgrades (HR 208).
14.3 Nothing in this Agreement shall entitle an employee to a temporary upgrade for training and/or directing the work of new and/or less experienced employees.
Temporary Upgrading. (a) In the event that an employee is temporarily transferred to a higher classification than that to which the employee is regularly assigned, he or she shall be paid at the normal wage scale for such higher classification during the period of such transfer for not less than a full tour of duty.
(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of (a) above, in the event that an employee temporarily relieves another employee or employees in a higher classification for a meal period or meal periods not in excess of two (2) hours in any one tour, the employee shall be paid at the normal wage scale for such higher classification during the period of such relief only. If the relief periods exceed two (2) hours, the employee shall be paid at the normal wage scale for such higher classification for not less than the entire tour of duty. In the case of relief for personal needs or rest periods, the employee shall receive his or her normal wage scale. In no event, however, is an employee to receive less than his or her regular wage scale if assigned temporarily to a lower classification than the employee's regular status.
(c) Any employee who receives upgrades by virtue of this Agreement for at least one hundred thirty (130) days during the twelve (12) month period immediately preceding December 31 of each year shall receive, in addition to regular vacation pay, the upgrade for each day of vacation, paid sick leave, payback days and jury duty during the following calendar year. In no event shall any upgrades given for vacation, sick leave, payback days and jury duty in any year count toward the attainment of upgrades in any succeeding year. If an employee is upgraded to more than one (1) grade during the twelve (12) month period in which he or she earned the above payment, he or she will be paid for each day of vacation, paid sick leave, payback days and jury duty at the rate to which such employee was most frequently upgraded during the twelve (12) month period.
(d) Any employee who receives upgrades by virtue of this Agreement for an average of at least two hundred (200) days during a period of three (3) consecutive calendar years, shall, beginning with the first pay period in February of the following year, be upgraded on a regular basis to the lowest grade among those grades used, in descending order, to reach the two hundred (200) day requirement (e.g. an employee upgraded 70 days to Group 6, 130 days to Group 5 and 20 days to Group 3 shall receive an upgrade to Group 5). Temporary Upgrading. Definition: Time-In-Grade is the permanent assignment to Engineer, Lieutenant, or Captain. Temporary Assignment to Engineer, Lieutenant, or Captain will not be credited towards Time-In-Grade.
(A) To assure the orderly performance and continuity of municipal services, the City may temporarily upgrade employees on an acting basis to positions of higher rank.
(B) If the City elects to offer a temporary upgrade, then the highest ranking individual on the respective eligibility list established by the Civil Service Commission who is present at the time the upgrade begins and is regularly assigned to the shift shall be offered the assignment. If individuals on the eligibility list elect to pass the upgrade then the offer of upgrade will be given to those present on the respective shift by the upgrade sequence below. If no other individual has accepted the assignment under this Section, the highest ranking individual who is present at the time of the upgrade on the respective eligibility list shall not have the right to refuse a temporary upgrade. In the event that no individual on the respective eligibility list is present and regularly assigned to the shift where the temporary upgrade is needed, the temporary upgrade assignment shall be given to those present and regularly assigned to the respective shift by the upgrade sequence below and they shall not have the right to refuse a temporary upgrade. A stand-in will not assume an upgrade if there is another employee present and regularly assigned to the shift who can be temporarily upgraded. Officers who are given upgrade assignments to Division Chief shall not have the right to refuse the assignment.
Temporary Upgrading. (a) In the event that an employee is temporarily transferred to a higher classification than that to which the employee is regularly assigned, he or she shall be paid at the normal wage scale for such higher classification during the period of such transfer for not less than a full tour of duty.

(d) In any case where the Company reassigns a regular employee to a job with a lower pay classification, the Company will give the employee and the Union two (2) weeks’ notice before changing the employee’s pay rate to the appropriate pay classification set forth in the Master Agreement. Nothing herein shall be construed to restrict the Company’s right of reassignment.
Temporary Upgrading. If a status employee is assigned on a temporary employment basis to a temporary or permanent position of higher rate or range, he/she shall receive an increase of four percent (4%) to his/her basic straight time hourly rate, or the minimum of the higher classification, whichever is greater, for all hours worked in the higher classification.

Temporary Upgrading. A. When an employee is assigned to work in a higher classification the employee shall receive a 2.5% increase for assignment from Driver Engineer to Crash Truck Operator, a 5% increase for assignment from Firefighter to Driver Engineer, and a 7.5% increase for all other assignments, for all hours worked in the higher classification. In the event that the percentage increases described in this section do not bring the upgraded employee’s base pay rate to at least the minimum pay rate for the higher classification, the employee’s pay rate will be increased in increments of 2.5% to a rate which is closest to, but not lower than, the minimum of the pay range of the higher classification.
B. The Fire Chief will make an effort to use the current promotional list for temporary upgrading. If the Fire Chief decides to pass over a bargaining unit member on the eligibility list, the decision shall be based on operational needs and not in an arbitrary or capricious manner.
Temporary Upgrading. When an employee is assigned to temporarily relieve and perform the principle duties of a higher paying position for one-half (1/2) shift (four (4) consecutive hours) or more, he shall receive the rate of pay for the job to which he is assigned.
