VACATIONS PAY. Employees covered by this agreement shall be granted vacations with pay on the following basis. Custodialstaff must complete their vacation period one (1) week prior to Labour Day. Employeeswith less than years of service must take all of their vacation up to4 weeks vacation during July and August, except as allowed under Article Employees with less than twenty (20) years of service may make application to take vacations outside of the normalJuly and August vacation period. The granting of such requests will be made at the sole discretion of the Board. Maintenancestaff may take vacation at any time during the year but a vacation period of more than three (3) weeks during the months of July and August will be at the discretion of the Superintendentof Business and Plant. For each week of vacation (up to a maximum of three weeks) not taken during the months of July and August, a one-half day bonus (up to a maximum of one and one-half days) will be paid. An employee may request time off in lieu of the paid bonus. When an employee is granted a leave of absence, with deduction, which aggregates twenty (20) working days or more during a calendar year, vacation pay and entitlement shall be prorated according to time worked. An employee on paid sick leave, wage loss, or will accumulatevacation credits for up to one year from the date of disability, and will resume accumulation upon return to work. Vacation time off may include a portion of a three-day or four-day group of scheduled working shifts to round off the vacation entitlement, provided the be tied to either the beginning or end of the regular vacation period. The periods at which an employee shall have vacation in each department shall be based on the selection of the employee inthe departmentaccording to departmental seniority. The number of employees entitledto vacation in any period inany department shall be by the Employerat itssole discretion. The Employer agrees that such discretion shall not be unreasonably exercised.
