ARTICLE ANNUAL VACATION. Each Member covered by the Agreement shall be granted, during the term of this Agreement, annual vacations with pay at the current rate of pay as follows: All Members with less than one (1) year of continuous service shall receive seven (7) hours off for each month of service up to a maximum of seventy (70) hours. All Members having completed one (1) or more years of continuous service shall receive seventy (70) hours. All Members having completed four (4) or more years of continuous service shall receive one hundred and five hours. All Members having completed ten (10) or more years of continuous service shall receive one hundred and forty (140) hours. All Members having completed sixteen (16) or more years of continuous service shall receive one hundred and seventy-five (175) hours. All Members having completed twenty-three (23) or more years of continuous service shall receive two hundred and ten (210) hours. Members on the compressed work week, shall, subject to the exigencies of the Service be allowed to schedule annual leave within their respective branches, and whenever reasonably possible within their platoons. The Members in these branches will remain primarily under the direction of their branch A Member who incurs an injury on duty of sufficient seriousness to require absence from work extending into the Member's annual leave or who incurs an accident or sickness which requires hospitalization before and either extending into the annual leave or requiring convalescence such that the Member would not have been able to work on or before the first day of the annual leave, will be permitted to change the annual leave for a time to be mutually agreed on between the and his or her Supervisor. All requests will be in writing and supported by a Doctor's certificate. ARTICLE STATUTORY HOLIDAYS Each Member shall be granted twelve (12) statutory or declared holidays with pay as follows: New Year's Day Victoria Day Thanksgiving Day Heritage Day Dominion Day Remembrance Day Good Friday Civic Holiday Christmas Day Easter Monday Labour Day Boxing Day. When any of the above mentioned statutory or declared holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday, and are not proclaimed as being observed on some other day, a day off in lieu thereof shall be granted. ARTICLE ANNUAL VACATION. (a) A new employee shall be entitled to a vacation in the amount of one and one quarter (1 working days for each full month of service completed in the first vacation year (April March to a maximum of (15) working days. An employee who has completed one year of continuous service (i.e. in the 2nd year) shall be entitled to 5) working days vacation and in each succeeding year until he completes eight (8) years of continuous service. An employee who has completed eight (8) years of continuous service (i.e. in the 9th year) shall be entitled to twenty (20) working days vacation and in each succeeding year until he completes eighteen 8) years of continuous service. An employee who has completed eighteen 8) years of continuous service (i.e. in the 19th year) shall be entitled to (25) working days vacation and in each succeeding year until he completes twenty-eight (28) years of continuous service. An employee who has completed twenty-eight (28) years of continuous service in the 29th year) shall be entitled to thirty (30) working days vacation and in each succeeding year. The vacation specified above may be taken any time within the fiscal year in which the employee completes the required years of service, subject to the employee and the Supervisor reaching agreement on a vacation schedule which will not hamper the Employer's operations. A special leave of absence for any of the above holidays may be granted to employees who have to travel long distances to be home for the holiday, provided that a request for such leave is made at least five (5) days before the holiday. This daily allowance is in addition to any meal allowance that may be granted and will be paid on overnight or single day courses. Who is attending any course where the member is required to have gymnasium or other equipment is to be paid a cash allowance of fifty dollars ($50.00) in addition to any other cash allowances. Who is required to attend any course at the Canadian Police College or out of Province for a period in excess of four (4) consecutive weeks, will be paid travelling expenses to permit a return trip to the member’s residence during that said period. ARTICLE ANNUAL VACATION. An employee who has or will have completed one year of continuous service by the end of the calendar year will be entitled to three (3) weeks vacation with pay. An employee who has or will have completed ten (10) or more years of continuous service by the end of the calendar year will be entitled to four (4) weeks vacation with pay. An employee who has or will have completed twenty (20) or more years of continuous service by the end of the calendar year will be entitled to five (5) weeks vacation with pay. The company will provide a one-time bonus equal to days vacation with pay based on the following service milestones: After completion of years of service, Vacation pay will be calculated on the employee's regular basic hourly rate in effect at the time of their vacation or of their vacationable earnings from the previous twelve (12) month period, whichever is the greater. Vacation entitlement and carryover provisions are administered according to the Company's current Vacation Policy. The plant will shutdown for vacation for a two-week period during the months of July and/or August. Unless exigencies of production require an exception to the rule, all employees shall take their vacation entitlement at that time.
