EXTRA PAY FOR EXTRA DUTY. A. The parties agree to an ongoing Extra Pay for Extra Duty (EPED) Study Committee which shall meet as needed and present its recommendations to the Board and the Association as needed but not less than annually by October 1, of each school year preceding the contract effective date.
B. For the purposes of this agreement, EPED assignments are those assignments that must be conducted beyond the employee’s duty day and that require the direct leadership of and responsibility for students.
X. The EPED Study Committee will be composed of five representatives appointed by the Association and five appointed by the Board and will be co-chaired by one representative appointed by SMCPS and one representative appointed by EASMC. Utilizing the guidelines set forth in the appendix to this agreement, the committee’s charge is to give recommendations to the Superintendent by:
1. specifying positions eligible for EPED compensation,
2. documenting a job description for eligible positions based on the EPED Proposed Additional Position Form including, at a minimum, the number and description of staff supervised, required activities/events, and range of dates,
3. determining the amount of compensation based on the formula below,
4. providing justification for compensation, and
5. issuing a summarizing report. The resulting report shall specify the positions eligible for compensation, the job responsibilities associated with each position, the amount of compensation, and the justification for the compensation.
D. The EPED Study Committee will continue using the following table based on the existing process to assign points in the areas of Required Hours, Number of Students, and Level of Responsibility. E. Assumption of all EPED assignments shall be voluntary and the signature of the site administrator, designee, or appropriate supervisor and the employee shall be required on the EPED agreement prior to performing the duties. The site administrator shall distribute EPED Agreements to employees designated as sponsors/coaches for the extra duties (1) listed in Article XVII of this agreement and/or (2) recommended by the EPED Committee and subsequently approved by the Board. EXTRA PAY FOR EXTRA DUTY. A. Extra duty for which extra compensation shall be paid and the amounts of such compensation are set forth in Appendix E, which is attached hereto, and made a part of this Agreement.
B. Teacher participation in extra duty activities in the extra duty pay schedule in Appendix E shall be strictly voluntary. Teacher participation in other extra duty activities involving students outside the normal school hours shall also be strictly voluntary. The Board reserves the right to accept a volunteer. The Board may employ a person outside the bargaining unit if no qualified Association member applies for such employment within the initial posting period.
EXTRA PAY FOR EXTRA DUTY. The Board shall pay those monies earned from extra pay for extra duty responsibilities during the time each extra-duty is taking place. An amount equal to the extra pay may be withheld from an employee’s if an assignment is not completed within two (2) weeks of the end of the activity. This includes inventories, care of equipment, and any necessary reports. Assignments which are beyond the description of the school day as described in Article IV (A. & B.) and which are in excess of the basic professional responsibility shall be compensated in accordance with the extra-pay for extra-duty schedule (Appendix A, Tables 2 & 3) which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement.
EXTRA PAY FOR EXTRA DUTY. Extra Duty Extra Pay positions as well as the salary for each position based on consecutive years of service in the same EDEP position are located in Appendix B. All employees on the EDEP salary schedule shall be paid a lump sum at the completion of services. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any position that has responsibilities for an entire year shall be paid in two installments (mid-year and end year). Positions shall only be paid if the Board of School Directors approves the specific program.

EXTRA PAY FOR EXTRA DUTY. A. CAFETERIA - Cafeteria personnel will be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1-1/2) for over eight (8) hour day and forty (40) hour week. Time and one-half (1-1/2) will be paid when facilities are rented by outside groups beyond the employee's regular schedule.

Abolishment of existing positions and establishment of new positions are deemed administrative matters. Upon the establishment of a new extra pay for extra duty (EPED) position or upon significant changes in duties for an existing EPED position during the term of the current agreement between the Madison Education Association and the Madison Board of Education, the Superintendent and the Madison Education Association shall agree on the schedule of the new or changed position for the remainder of the current agreement consistent with existing positions. Every reasonable attempt shall be made by both parties to reach agreement on the schedule for the new or changed position within the range of the new existing schedule within thirty (30) days of the establishment of the new position or of the changes to an existing position. For this purpose, examples of the term "significant changes in duties for an existing position" shall include but not be limited to the following: changes in an interscholastic athletic schedule which results in the permanent increase or decrease in the number of events; additions or deletions in the number of assistant coaches reporting to a head coach; changes in the duties of a coordinator due to an increase or decrease in the number of grade and/or course levels. The Superintendent will make assignments of personnel to positions set forth in Appendix B, and provide notice of said appointment by June 30th of the year prior. Assignments to all EPED positions shall be annual. Performance in extra-duty assignments will annually be evaluated by the building principals. Coaching assignments supervised by the athletic director will annually be evaluated in conjunction with building principals by the athletic director and the building principal at both the high school and middle school levels. Recommendations for no increment will be submitted to the Superintendent by the building principal, and the athletic director where applicable. These recommendations will be considered by the Superintendent prior to making assignments for coaching or non-coaching positions. EXTRA PAY FOR EXTRA DUTY. The parties recognize that final authority to create positions, determine job descriptions and titles, and to assign teachers to positions is vested in the Board of School Trustees. (See Appendix B.) Between ECA Committee meetings and/or discussion/negotiations, the Superintendent of Schools shall have the ability to make changes in ECA positions as deemed appropriate and necessary. These changes may be made for a period not to exceed one calendar year.

Assignments to extra duty positions shall be made prior to the end of each school year, unless teachers are not available. If a teacher is not reassigned to a position held the previous year, the principal will confer with the teacher and state the reasons for not reassigning the teacher. However, this shall not be construed to mean that just cause must be shown, as indicated in Article 11.2, or that any teacher has a continuing right to be assigned to an extra duty position. All schools will post names of clubs and organizations and the pay for each at that site. Each year the Extra Pay for Extra Duty salaries will increase by the same percentage as the percentage salary increase for teachers.
