SECTION A - Sick Leave. 1. At the beginning of each school year each employee shall be credited with an advanced sick leave allowance of twelve (12) days (8 hours = 1 day) with full pay to be used for absence caused by illness, injury, maternity, paternity, quarantine, or other disability. Each employee's portion of unused sick leave allowance shall accumulate from year to year in accordance with the law. Upon return to employment with the District, any former employee shall be credited with the balance of unused sick leave accumulated at the time of termination of his/her employment with the District, provided leave has not been transferred and used in another school district.
2. Sick leave in excess of five (5) consecutive days may require a doctor's verification. An employee returning from any major illness or disability, whether or not compensated leave benefits have been paid, may be required to present a medical release from his/her physician before returning to work.
3. An employee who has exhausted accumulated sick leave and who is unable to perform his/her duties because of personal illness, maternity, or other disability may, upon request, be granted an unpaid leave of absence under provisions of this Agreement. An employee who has been granted leave under this provision may return to service during the period of the leave, provided that no replacement contract has been issued, or another position is available, after giving ten (10) days written notice to the Superintendent and with written permission of his/her personal physician.
4. Employees may cash in unused sick leave days above an accumulation of sixty (60) days at a ratio of one (1) full day's monetary compensation for four (4) accumulated sick leave days. At the employee's option they can cash out their unused sick leave days in January of the school year following any year in which a minimum of sixty (60) days of sick leave is accrued, and each January thereafter, at a rate equal to one day's monetary compensation of the employee for each four (4) days for each day compensated. No employee may receive compensation for sick leave accumulated in excess of one day per month. At the time of separation from School District employment due to retirement or death, an eligible employee or the employee's estate shall receive remuneration at a rate equal to one (1) day's current monetary compensation of the employee for each four (4) days accrued sick leave for illness or injury.

SECTION A - Sick Leave. 1. Aide/paraprofessional employees, food-service employees, and transportation employees will be granted one (1) day per month (maximum nine (9) days per year); regular part-year secretarial employees will be granted one (1) day per month (maximum ten (10) days per year); and full-year employees will be granted one (1) day per month (maximum twelve (12) days per year) of sick leave at the beginning of the employee's work year. Unused sick leave shall be accumulative to eighty (80). In case of transfer from one position to another, the number of days accumulated to the date of the transfer shall be amended on a pro rata basis based on the ratio of the number of hours per day worked in the prior position to the number of hours per day worked in the new position.
2. At the beginning of the contract year, the employee will have the current year's allowance available regardless of the number of days accumulated. However, if an employee terminates employment before the days used would have been earned, the amount for those days used in excess will be deducted from the employee's last paycheck. At the end of the year, unused days from the allowance will be credited to accumulated unused sick leave.
3. Upon retirement from the Xxxxxx Area Schools under the provisions of the Michigan Public Schools Retirement Plan after ten (10) years of employment in the district, the employee will be paid fifteen dollars ($15) per day of unused accumulated sick leave up to a maximum of eighty (80) days, for a maximum of $1,200 total. If the retiring member does not exhaust all sick days allotted to them in their final year of employment, then they will be eligible for reimbursement of up to ninety (90) days at fifteen dollars ($15) per day.
4. Days that may be accumulated annually in excess of eighty (80) days may be claimed up to the contractual limit at fifteen ($15) dollars per day. Each employee should request such payment in writing by May 1st.

SECTION A - Sick Leave. 1. At the beginning of each school year each employee covered by this agreement shall be credited with an advanced illness, injury, emergency or family leave allowance of twelve (12) days. In the event of illness, injury or emergency, the appropriate deduction will be made in minutes on the leave form. Illness/injury leave, which is not used or cashed out on an annual basis, shall accumulate to a limit of 180 days.
2. It is the responsibility of the employee to report absences as soon as possible to the building principal or supervisor.
3. Employees retain accumulated illness/injury leave benefits so long as they return to the District.
4. Employees returning from sabbatical leave or leave of absence who transfer from the school district which granted the leave to another school district retain prior accumulated illness/injury leave.
5. Up to date information on staff sick leave benefits are accessible via each employee’s Skyward account.
6. In the event of absences for reasons which are covered by Industrial Insurance, the district shall pay the employee an amount equal to the difference between the amount paid the employee by the North Central Washington Worker’s Compensation Trust and the amount the employee would normally earn. A deduction shall be made from the employee’s accumulated sick leave in accordance with the amount paid to the employee by the District.

SECTION A - Sick Leave.
1. Regular employees shall accumulate eight (8) hours of Sick Leave benefits for every month for which compensation was earned.
2. Unused Sick Leave shall accumulate in a bank of no more than one hundred and eighty (180) days.
a. Said bank shall be available for future illnesses.
b. Sick leave shall be deducted from the employee’s bank.
3. Accumulated Sick Leave pay shall be payable in fifteen (15) minute increments rate from and including the first (1st) working day of bona fide absences caused by illness, injury, medical disability (including that caused by childbearing), child care to the extent required by law, or an emergency caused by family illness where no reasonable alternative is available to the employee, subject to the provisions of 15-G below.
a. The daily total of Sick Leave pays under this Section and disability payments provided by the Health and Welfare Plan under Article 15-B, shall not exceed the daily contract rate.
b. Sick Leave is not to be paid for holidays.
c. A physician's certificate of illness may be required for approval of leave for any illness, injury, medical disability (including childbearing) or childcare if the absence exceeds three (3) workdays.

SECTION A - Sick Leave.
A. Accumulation: At the beginning of each school year, each employee shall be credited with an advance sick leave allowance of 12 days with pay. The District retains the right to reclaim sick leave that is used but unearned. Each employee's portion of unused sick leave allowance shall accumulate from year to year as permitted by statute. Pay for any period of approved sick leave shall be the same as the pay for the employee's regular work. Employees employed less than a full term shall be entitled to a proportionate part of all sick leave allowance. In case of an extended disability or illness, an employee may continue to draw sick leave until it has been exhausted.

SECTION A - Sick Leave. The Bridgeport School District shall provide employees with sick leave that is consistent with state law.
1. A total of twelve [12] full working days per year, with full pay, shall be granted each full-time certificated employee as sick leave. Such sick leave shall accrue to the employee as of the first day of the school district contract calendar of each year and accumulate from the date of employment.
2. Certificated employees under contract with the District as less than full-time employees shall be granted sick leave in the same proportion as their part-time contract bears to a full-time contract. Certificated employees contracting with the District after the beginning of the fiscal year shall be granted sick leave on a pro-rata basis as their contract bears to full-time contract.
