VACANCIES/PROMOTIONS. Section 14.1: All permanent budgeted vacancies in the sergeant rating shall be filled within thirty (30) days if a valid eligibility list is in existence however, nothing herein shall prevent the City from terminating any budgeted vacancy that may occur.
VACANCIES/PROMOTIONS. Section 8.1. Whenever the Employer determines that a vacancy exists within the bargaining unit which the Employer intends to fill, and such a vacancy is not filled through recall from a layoff list, the Employer shall post a vacancy notice on the bulletin boards where employee notices are usually posted for five (5) working days prior to filling the vacancy. All such notices shall contain a description of the position to be filled, including job duties, working hours, special qualifications required or desired, name and classification of immediate supervisor, location of reporting and working, and the deadline and place of application.
VACANCIES/PROMOTIONS. The District shall have the right to decide if any vacancy shall be filled or promotion made in accordance with Article 5 – Management Rights.

If a vacancy occurs in the Fire Service in a position other than in the Platoon Chief, Fire Marshal, Chief Training Officer, Captain or Lieutenant classifications, such vacancy shall be posted in bulletin form in the Fire Service. All applications for such vacancy shall be applied for in writing and directed to the Human Resources Department. Only under extenuating circumstances shall vacancies take longer than sixty (60) days to be filled.

Vacancies in all classes except maintenance, which shall occur from time to time due to retirement, death, resignation or other reasons, shall be given to employees on the basis of seniority if the employee can meet the posted qualifications. Promotions to vacancies in the maintenance class shall be filled on the bases of the seniority and the relative ability to perform the required responsibilities of the position. VACANCIES/PROMOTIONS. 1. When the Judiciary decides to fill a permanent or limited service, vacant bargaining unit position through competitive procedures, notice shall be posted internally and externally concurrently for an amount of time determined by the Court Administrator.

When a classified permanent promotional vacancy occurs in any position it shall be filled within a reasonable period of time after the official severance of the vacating Fire Department member. Filling of all vacancies shall be in accordance with the Civil Service Rules and Regulations, so long as they are not inconsistent with provisions of this Agreement. All vacancies shall be filled from the promotional register in effect at the time the vacancy occurs. If a promotional register is not in effect, vacancies will be filled from the next promotional register. Promotions will be to the effective date of vacancy for the classified position. For pay purposes, if the City fails to promote within thirty (30) calendar days from the effective date of the vacancy, retroactive pay shall be paid beginning thirty-one (31) days from the effective date of the vacancy.
