HOLIDAYS AND PERSONAL DAY. A. Each full-time employee in the bargaining unit is entitled to ten (10) days holiday pay at the employee's regular rate of pay for the following holidays: 1. January 1 New Year’s Day 6. 1st Monday in September Labor Day 2. 3rd Monday in January MLK Day 7. 2nd Monday in October Columbus Day 3. 3rd Monday in February Presidents Day 8. November 11th Veterans Day 4. Last Monday in May Memorial Day 9. 4th Thursday in November Thanksgiving 5. July 4 Independence Day 10. Christmas Day December 25 B. The holiday being observed starts at 12:00 a.m. on the day listed. In order to receive holiday pay for a scheduled holiday, the employee must work the day before and after the holiday, unless he is on vacation, comp time or personal time during that time. If an employee is on a disciplinary suspension he will not receive Holiday pay. He cannot use a sick day prior to nor after a holiday without an excuse form signed by a doctor. Pay for hours actually worked on a holiday is paid at the employee's regular rate. If the hours actually worked are over forty (40) in a work week, the employee will receive one and one-half (1½) times his regular rate of pay. Pay for hours actually worked on December 25 (Christmas) shall be paid at double-time rate, in addition to ten (10) hour holiday pay. C. Each employee per year shall be granted twenty (20) hours of personal time which shall be non-accumulative. Each employee with a sick leave balance above 500 hours has the option to utilize an additional ten (10) hours of personal time. Personal days may not be scheduled immediately before or after a vacation day or holiday.

HOLIDAYS AND PERSONAL DAY. (1) The recognized holidays are set forth in Article XIX (Holidays and Personal Day), Section 1. (2) A part-time employee who has a scheduled workday which falls on one of the recognized holidays and who is required to work on the holiday shall be paid time and one-half his/her hourly rate for all time worked on the holiday shift. In addition, such employees who are required to work the holiday shall be given a compensating day off or, at the employee’s option, one (1) day’s pay. The pay for the day or for the compensating day off shall be the pro-rata equivalent of seven and one half (7 1/2) hours pay at his or her straight-time hourly rate. A part-time employee who is scheduled to work on one of the recognized holidays, but is not thereafter required to work on that day, shall be given leave on such holiday without loss of pay. A supervisor shall not change a part-time employee’s schedule for the purpose of avoiding holiday pay. Supervisors shall give part-time employees one (1) week notice as to who shall work and what hours they shall work on any given holiday. The number of hours scheduled to be worked on a holiday shift shall not be less than five (5) hours. (3) When a holiday falls on a Sunday and is celebrated the following day, the Sunday night shift rather than the Monday night shift shall be the holiday (premium) shift. (4) If a holiday occurs during an eligible part-time employee’s vacation period, he/she shall receive another scheduled workday off with pay. (5) Any part-time employee who has been continuously employed the entire year prior to January 1 of each year will be entitled to the pro-rata equivalent of seven and one-half (7 ½) hours of a paid Personal Day. Part- time employees my use their Personal Day with prior approval of their supervisor.
HOLIDAYS AND PERSONAL DAY. 1. During the financial week in which one of the recognized holidays occurs, the standard workweek of five (5) days shall be adjusted so that the standard workweek shall be four (4) days, thirty (30) hours and all work in excess of such time shall be paid for at the time-and-a-half rate. The four (4) day workweek shall be adjusted so that such workweek will be three (3) days, thirty (30) hours and all work in excess of such time shall be paid at the time and one-half rate. The flexible workweek shall be adjusted so that such workweek will be five (5) days, thirty (30) hours and all work in excess of such time shall be paid at the time and one-half rate. 3. Supervisors shall give all full-time employees two (2) weeks’ notice as to who shall work and what hours on any given holiday. The number of hours for full-time employees shall not be less than five (5). 4. When a holiday falls on a Sunday and is celebrated the following day, the Sunday night shift rather than the Monday night shift shall be the premium shift. 5. If a holiday occurs in a full-time employee’s vacation period, he shall receive an additional day off with pay. 6. Full-time regular employees with continuous full-time employment with the Publisher for the entire twelve (12) consecutive months prior to January 1 of each year will be entitled to one Personal Day off with pay at straight-time rate. Such day must be scheduled and approved by the employee's supervisor at least two weeks in advance of being taken. Such day off cannot be carried over from year to year (accumulated). Each part-time employee, other than an employee 1) on layoff (except as otherwise herein provided) 2) on any leave of absence, or 3) not scheduled to work for any four (4) consecutive week period in which the holiday falls, shall receive prorated holiday pay in proportion to their straight-time hours worked in the pay period in which the holiday falls. For calculation purposes, the number of holiday hours in the pay period are multiplied by a fraction, the numerator being the number of hours worked in the pay period, excluding work on the holiday, and the denominator being eighty (80) hours minus the number of holiday hours in the pay period. To be qualified to receive holiday pay, the employee must work their last scheduled day prior to and their next scheduled day following the holiday, unless failure to work on either or both such days is excused because of; (1) personal sickness or injury as provided in Section 31, (2) approved vacation, or (3) other extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of the employee which cannot be corrected in time for them to meet their employment obligation.
