Personal Business/Emergency Leave. A full-time faculty member shall have available two (2) days of non-accumulative personal, business or emergency leave per year, which shall be charged against sick leave when used. An adjunct faculty member shall have one day, which shall be charged against sick leave in hours when used. Personal or business leave must be requested in advance. Prior notification of the department chair and approval by the Vice President for Instruction are required. Such leave cannot be taken during the first week of the contract, the first week of any term, during finals week, in conjunction with any holiday and not normally on the day of Commencement. Except in cases where emergency leave is used to supplement bereavement leave in section (f) below, such emergency leave must have written approval of the Vice President for Instruction.

Personal Business/Emergency Leave. 1. Personal business/emergency leave shall be defined as leave that necessitates the immediate attention of the unit member, cannot be conducted at a time not in conflict with the unit member's regular school day, cannot be conducted after normal working hours, cannot be performed without the attendance of the unit member, and is not authorized under other leave provisions. The situation for which the leave is requested must be of a nature that pre-planning is not possible or that pre-planning could not relieve the necessity for the absence. 2. Written applications for personal business/emergency leave shall be made on a standard form and submitted to the unit member's building principal or designee at least three (3) days prior to such leave. The reason for requesting such leave will be reported on the form. 3. In an extraordinary circumstance, written application, with reasons, may be made at a later date. Reasonable effort must be made to communicate extraordinary or emergency leave requests prior to the absence. 4. This leave is a part of the allotted sixteen (16) days per year, but cannot be used the day before or the day after a school holiday, institute day, or on the day of an institute.

Teachers shall provide notice to their immediate supervisor at least one (1) workday prior to the request for leave, except in case of emergency. If this is to be taken an a Monday or Friday during April, May or June or any day during the last ten (10) days of the school year, notice will be provided seventy-two (72) hours in advance, except in cases of emergency. 3. Leave under this section shall be taken in not less than one-half (1/2) day increments. It shall not be used for activities related to a second business or occupation, nor shall it be used to extend a vacation or holiday.
Personal Business/Emergency Leave. Employees may be granted two (2) days of personal leave. One (1) additional day may be granted in case of an “extreme emergency” at the discretion of the superintendent. Personal Business/Emergency Leave. 1. Each employee shall be entitled to two (2) days of personal business leave for matters which cannot be conducted outside of regular school hours. Personal business leave shall not be used for other employment or for social, recreational, vacation or other similar purposes. a. This leave shall not be taken the day prior to and/or the day following a holiday or vacation period or on parent-teacher conference days. b. The employee shall notify the Superintendent (or designee) in writing at least three (3) school days in advance of intent to utilize the personal business leave. The employee shall also complete a form constituting a certification by the employee that the obligation cannot reasonably be scheduled outside the regular work day or on a non-work day. c. All leave is subject to availability of substitutes. d. The personal business days referred to in this subsection do not have to be taken prior to the emergency leave day described in subsection I (2) of this Article. 2. An employee may apply to the Superintendent (or designee) for up to one (1) additional emergency day. If granted, the emergency day shall be subject to the conditions specified in Section 1 above. The request shall contain a full explanation, in writing, and is subject to advance approval by the Superintendent (or designee). The emergency may be of such nature that the request in writing is not practical; in this event, the employee shall contact the Superintendent (or designee) by phone or in person to get a decision prior to the absence. If the leave is approved, the employee will submit a written explanation of the emergency within two (2) school days of the absence. In extenuating circumstances emergency leave under this subsection I(2) may be requested for day(s) prior to or following a holiday or vacation period or on parent-teacher conference days.
Personal Business/Emergency Leave. Each teacher will be entitled to three (3) days of personal business/emergency leave. If not used, such days will revert back to and become part of accumulative sick leave. (See also Sick Leave Section 1.A.) The purpose of such leave will be to attend to those matters that may not be taken care of during other than school time. Teachers will be paid out at full value, at the member’s contracted daily rate for any full remaining personal leave days on the final June payroll.
Personal Business/Emergency Leave. 15.1 Employees may be absent as defined in 15.2 and 15.3 per school year, if necessary, to conduct personal business or to be absent for a significant event which is important to the employee which can only be conducted during the normal workday. Whenever possible, employees should schedule personal business meetings outside their regularly scheduled work day. Requests for personal leave shall be made in advance of its use and shall be subject to the approval of the supervisor and the Director and/or Assistant Director. Employees do not need to state the reason for the leave request. More than one (1) employee cannot be absent from a kitchen without prior approval. Probationary employees will not be eligible for personal business/emergency leave. 15.2 All high time employees may be absent one day per school year in accordance with the policy listed in paragraph 15.1 at the discretion of his/her manager.

  • Personal Business Leave Unit members shall receive a total of three (3) work days per year with no loss in salary that may be used for personal business. Unit members employed on or after February 1 shall receive one (1) work day of personal business leave. Effective July 1, 2006, unused personal business leave days may be accumulated up to no greater than five (5) days. On July 1 of each year any personal business days in excess of five (5) will be converted to sick leave days. Personal business leave may be requested, with at least three (3) work days advance notice, through the appropriate principal or department head who shall not require a reason for the leave. If, however, an unforeseen circumstance requires the member’s absence which could not be approved three days in advance, the reason for the absence shall be stated and the principal or department head may, at his/her discretion, approve the absence as a day of personal business leave. Personal business leave may be denied when, in the judgment of the principal or supervisor, the member’s absence would impair the educational process. Personal business leave shall not be taken immediately before or immediately after a holiday or weekday when school is closed on the master calendar, or on an in-service day for teachers, or at the beginning (first five scheduled work days) or the end of the school year (last five scheduled work days). If, however, a circumstance requires the member’s absence on one or more of the foregoing days, the member may request use of personal business leave through the principal. The principal or supervisor may, at his/her discretion, approve the absence as a day of personal business leave. In normal circumstances a member shall not use more than three (3) consecutive personal business days at one time. Exceptions to the foregoing restrictions on days to be used for personal business leave may be made by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for circumstances which require the member’s absence on these days.

  • Personal Emergency Leave 1. An educator will be granted up to five (5) days of leave per year to cover situations beyond the control of the educator which would significantly impair teaching service. Personal emergency leave may not be used for illness or injury, or illness or injury in the immediate family. Deductions from the gross pay of an educator for this leave shall be made at the degreed substitute rate of pay for each day taken. 2. An educator may be granted up to five (5) days leave without pay for business or personal reasons having unusual circumstances.

  • Personal Leave Written request for a personal leave of absence without pay will be considered on an individual basis by the Hospital. Such requests are to be submitted to the employee's immediate supervisor at least four (4) weeks in advance, unless not reasonably possible to give such notice, and a written reply will be given within fourteen (14) days except in cases of emergency in which case a reply will be given as soon as possible. Employees needing personal leave days for appointments with medical practitioners may utilize the personal leave language. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Personal/Xxxxx’s Leave 7.3.1 All full time employees shall be entitled to accrue paid personal / xxxxx's leave on the basis of 10 days per year (or pro-rata thereof for any period less than one year). (b) attend the funerals of family or household members or close family relatives (if compassionate leave is not available in the circumstances). 7.3.4 The leave provided for in this clause will be granted subject to the following: (a) The employee must notify the employer of the reason and likely duration of the absence before 7.00 am on the first day of the absence, unless this is not possible due to an unexpected emergency in which case the employee must notify the employer as soon as practicable. (b) Where circumstances permit, an employee must endeavour to arrange leave to minimise the impact on operational needs. (c) The provision of appropriate documentary evidence. 1. For sick leave, a medical certificate or if not reasonably practicable to provide a medical certificate- a statutory declaration made by the employee. 2. For xxxxx's leave, a medical certificate in respect to the family or household member, or a statutory declaration by the employee. 3. For compassionate leave, any evidence that the employer reasonably requires. 7.3.5 The employee is not entitled to take more than 10 days of paid xxxxx’s leave (1/26th of the nominal hours worked by the employee) per year, regardless of the amount of personal leave the employee has accumulated over time. 7.3.6 An employee may request to cash out any amount of paid personal/xxxxx’s leave that they have accrued that is excess of 3/52 of the number of nominal hours worked over the past 12 months. For example, an employee working 38 hours per week over 12 months must retain 15 days of paid personal/carer’s leave and may cash out any further personal/carer’s leave that has been accumulated. 7.3.7 In addition to the above, a request to cash out personal/xxxxx’s leave will only be granted where: (a) the employee elects to cash out their leave in writing; and (b) the employer agrees. 7.3.8 Casual Employees engaged in continuous service shall be entitled to personal leave limited to the provision of sub clause 7.3.

  • Unpaid Personal Leave Where an employee has exhausted all paid personal leave entitlements, they are entitled to take unpaid personal leave to care for members of their immediate family or household who are sick and require care and support or who require care due to an unexpected emergency. The employer and the employee shall agree on the period. In the absence of agreement, the employee is entitled to take up to two days (up to a maximum of 16 hours) of unpaid leave per occasion, provided the requirements of 7.2.5(a) and 7.2.5(b) are met.

  • Personal Medical Leave 1. Accrued 100% sick leave may be used at the employee's discretion. Such leave may be taken before or after the vacation described in No. 3 below. 2.
