Probationary Period Seniority. Seniority shall not accrue during the probationary period. Upon the successful completion of the probationary period, employee’s seniority shall relate back to and be calculated from his date of hire.
Probationary Period Seniority. 10.01 Each newly hired full-time employee shall be on probation for four (4) calendar months of active continuous service. During the probationary period, the employee shall be entitled to all rights and benefits of this Collective Agreement except that they may only grieve a termination or disciplinary action on the basis of the standard set out below. Seniority shall be effective from the date of hire. The parties agree that probationary employees may be dismissed or terminated during the probationary period, in the sole opinion of the Employer, for such consideration as, but not limited to, unsatisfactory work performance, general attitude and suitability as an employee.
Probationary Period Seniority. Section 21.1. Prior to regular employment, each employee selected by the Civil Service Commission procedure shall be required to complete a thirty (30) days worked probationary period on an open job position in a single twelve month period. An open position would include only those jobs where no employee is assigned nor holds any form of recall rights to that position. The employee shall be paid at the “first year level” starting the first day of their probation period. Following successful completion of the probationary period, probationary employees shall become members of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 95, pursuant to ARTICLE II of the Agreement. All hours worked during their probation period will be counted towards their thirty (30) days. Upon ratification, this section will be retro back to July 1, 2015.
Section 21.2. After successfully completing the probationary period, the employee shall become a regular employee.
Section 21.3. Management has the right to extend the probationary period up to an additional thirty (30) days.
Section 21.4. New employees shall not have seniority during their probationary period; however, persons who achieve regular status shall have seniority calculated from the first date of the probationary period.
Section 21.5. After successful completion of their probationary period, an employee whose effective date is the 1st through 10th day of the month shall have their insurance benefits made effective the 1st of the month. If the effective date is the 11th day through the end of the month, their insurance benefits shall be effective the 1st day of the next month.
Section 21.6. In the event of identical seniority in the bargaining unit, seniority will be determined by:
a. The date of the Board meeting at which the bargaining unit member was assigned a position in this unit, and then by;
b. The date on which the employee submitted a completed job application for a position in the District, and then by;
c. By flip of a coin, the Executive Director of Business Operations will call it in advance to determine who wins on heads, in the presence of the employees holding identical seniority. [new employees only]
Section 21.7. Seniority shall be broken only when an employee:

Probationary Period Seniority bargaining unit members transferred to a new job shall not accrue job classification seniority until the completion of the probationary period at which time their seniority shall revert to their first day of work, in the new job classification.

Probationary Period Seniority. Seniority shall not apply during a nurse's probationary period. Upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period, the employee will be credited with seniority in accordance with Article 6.3.1 above.
A. A nurse with prior experience shall be on probationary employment status during the first ninety (90) calendar days.
B. A new graduate nurse or a nurse with no prior experience shall be on probationary status for six (6) months. See also Article 5,

Probationary Period Seniority. LAYOFF AND RECALL Calculation of Seniority A teacher shall be on probation for a period of two years or one year where the teacher has at least three years experience in Canada. A teacher who takes a leave of absence in excess of working days for any purpose while on probation shall have the probation period extended by the duration of the leave. For the purposes of this agreement a teacher's seniority shall commence with the date of the teacher's most recent hiring as an elementary teacher (other than as a result of a recall after a layoff) by the Board and shall be maintained and accumulated long as the teacher remains in the employ of the Board as an elementary teacher. The seniority of a teacher hired as a elementary teacher before September shall be calculated as the most recent hiring date of that teacher in either panel (other than as a result of recall after layoff) by the Board and shall be maintained and accumulated so long as the teacher remains in the employ of the Board as an elementary teacher and shall include:
Probationary Period Seniority. A probationary employee shall have no seniority until they satisfactorily completes the probationary period as a full-time employee. Time worked in any classification not in the bargaining unit or as a part-time employee shall not count toward “Classification or Bargaining Unit Seniority.”
