Unscheduled Time Off. When time off is requested without prior approval due to an emergency or illness, a specific reason for the request is to be given. A nurse requiring time off without prior approval and on short notice must notify one departmental contact, as identified by Medical Center policy, as soon as the employee becomes aware of the need, or at least three (3) hours prior to the starting time for the applicable shift.
Unscheduled Time Off. 27.3.1. Personal leave provides income protection to an employee unable to work due to illness, injury or pregnancy, caring for an ill or injured member of his/her immediate family or other personal emergency. Unscheduled time off must be accounted for by completion of an Unscheduled Time Off Report upon the employee’s return to work. It is the responsibility of District’s management to control the potential abuse of unscheduled time off privileges. Tardiness less than fifteen (15) minutes will not be deducted from the employees pay, but numerous occurrences will be addressed through the progressive discipline procedures. Employees who are more than fifteen (15) minutes tardy to work must use accrued time off to offset the time away from work. Tardiness of more than fifteen (15) minutes may be considered unscheduled time off based on excessive occurrences.
27.3.2. Employees must notify their supervisor prior to the start time of their shift when they are unable to report to work. Any absence that is requested within twenty-three (23) hours of the start of an employee’s work schedule, excluding protected leaves of absence and bereavement leave, shall be considered unscheduled time off.
27.3.3. An employee’s attendance record will be reviewed with an employee after five (5) separate occurrences of unscheduled time off to provide an opportunity to assess problems that could potentially lead to disciplinary action. The accumulation of the sixth and seventh occurrence within a twelve (12) month period will result in a verbal warning. The eighth occurrence will result in a written warning. Employees who are charged with ten occurrences of unscheduled time off within a calendar twelve (12) month period will be subject to termination. A rolling (12) month calendar period will be utilized to measure absence occurrences. A “rolling” twelve (12) month calendar period is measured backward from the date the employee uses the leave. Absences of multiple consecutive days involving the same injury or illness will be considered a single occurrence. The District also has the right to discipline employees on the basis of total absences away from work.
27.3.4. Employees returning from an extended leave should notify their supervisor as soon as possible to facilitate personnel scheduling.
27.3.5. The employee may be required, at any time, to furnish a certificate issued by a licensed physician or nurse, or other satisfactory evidence of illness; however, for unscheduled absenc...
Unscheduled Time Off. When time off is requested without prior 7 approval due to an emergency or illness, a specific reason for the request is to 8 be given. A nurse requiring time off without prior approval and on short notice 9 must contact his/her manager, or designee, no later than 0630, unless the 10 employee does not become aware of the reason to be absent until after 0630. A 11 nurse whose scheduled work day begins after 0800 must contact his/her 12 manager, or designee, no later than one and on-half hours before his/her start 13 time, unless the employee does not become aware of the reason to be absent 14 until after that.
Unscheduled Time Off a) It is the understanding of the Township that personnel may be absent during their normally scheduled hours due to an emergent or unscheduled event. Any request for time off with less than a six-day notice shall fall under the designation of unscheduled time off. Depending on the nature of the absence, the Employee may be subject to disciplinary action.
Unscheduled Time Off a. An associate who calls out sick from work and has no accrued sick time or personal time is subject to discipline, except that the associate may call out up to three (3) times in a year (August 1 through July 31 consistent with sick leave accrual) after exhausting sick and personal time and not be subject to discipline, provided the associate presents on return to work proper documentation from Emergency Room or Urgent Care only stating that the associate was there the date of the call out. A doctor's note or other medical documentation (from emergency room or urgent care) does not excuse the discipline except as described above.
b. An associate who (i) calls out sick for more than one consecutive day; (ii) has any sick or personal time accrued at the start of the absence and (iii) presents medical documentation stating that the associate was seen by a medical provider on the date of the call out, then the associate will not be subject to discipline for that absence.
c. Pre-approved personal days and vacation days and sick days will not count against an associate for disciplinary purposes.
d. Pre-scheduled Doctor’s appointments on an associate’s regular day off may excuse that associate from a mandatory if associate gives proper and timely notification (i.e. documentation) and the manager approves it.
e. In special cases, outside of medical, bereavement and jury duty, Management reserves the right to excuse an occurrence; However management is not bound to continue excusing occurrences of these special cases.
Unscheduled Time Off. Unscheduled time off, such as illness or family emergencies, are absences that cannot be scheduled in advance. Employees are expected to notify their supervisor according to department guidelines, when the need to use unscheduled PTO arises (see Incentive Bonus).
Unscheduled Time Off. The Union and the Employer agree that a single day’s vacation shall not be used to cover unscheduled time off, except in emergency cases. Unscheduled Time Off. Any time off taken without five (5) working days prior written notice to management, and approval from management, with the exception of the following: bereavement leave, time off taken at management's request, or lack of work, or vacation time off or requested time off (paid or unpaid) with less than five (5) working days prior written notice that has been approved by management.
Unscheduled Time Off a. Unscheduled time off is defined as an absence that has not been approved in advance by the employee’s Department Head or designee. An absence shall be considered unscheduled when an employee’s request to use MTO is made less than three (3) working days prior to the date for which time off is requested or where no request for time off is made.
b. When unscheduled time off is necessary, an employee shall notify his/her Department Head or designee prior to the beginning of his/her scheduled reporting time and within the notification time period designated by the Department Head. The employee shall also inform his/her Department Head or designee of his/her anticipated date of return to work.
c. A Department Head or designee may grant approval of a request to use MTO made by an employee with less than three (3) days’ notice if the employee’s absence does not negatively affect departmental workload, project completion, and maintenance of sufficient departmental staffing levels, or if the absence is deemed to be covered by the state and/or federal Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”). Notice of unplanned FMLA leave shall be given as required in the County FMLA policy.
A. Procedures
Unscheduled Time Off. 1. Employees are expected to notify their manager 30 minutes prior to the start of their work schedule (email and text are not appropriate unless approved by your manager) if they are going to be absent unless conditions do not permit. Managers are required to accurately record and track employees’ absences. Employees will have seven (7) PTO days per calendar year to use for unscheduled, full day absences. The twenty‐four (24) hours which can be used in one (1) hour increments may also be used as unscheduled time off.
2. Employees may be required to schedule 50% of their annual PTO allotment in the first quarter of the calendar year (the PTO dates can occur later in that year).
