SICK AND CARER’S LEAVE. A. How much Sick and Carers Leave do employees receive? i) For each year of service with the council an employee is entitled to 15 days of Sick or Carers Leave (or the prorated amount for employees working on a part time temporary or fixed term basis). ii) An employee’s entitlement to be paid Sick or Carers leave accrues during a year of service according to the employee’s ordinary hours of work, and accumulates from year to year. iii) After 5 years’ service with council, if an employee’s Sick or Xxxxxx leave entitlement has been exhausted, the General Manager may grant additional Sick or Carers leave as the circumstances warrant. B. What notice is required when taking Sick and Carers leave? i) The employee must, as soon as reasonably practical, advise council of their inability to attend work because of personal illness or injury, or due to the requirement for them to provide care and support. This advice shall be by way of a phone call or as a minimum a voice message, to their Supervisor or Section Leader, unless otherwise agreed. ii) Whenever possible employees shall advise council prior to the commencement of their shift. Proof of illness is not required from an Employee except on request of their Leader. The Leader or Organisation Development Group can however request proof of illness for future unplanned absences, or on the day of the illness, if there is reasonable doubt about the pattern or nature of the Employee’s illness as described in the Proof of Illness Procedure. When requested the proof of illness shall indicate the Employee’s inability to undertake their normal duties on the relevant dates and will as far as possible indicate the expected duration of their absence. C. What Evidence is required to be provided in support of a Claim for Sick and Carers Leave? i) Proof of illness is not required from an Employee except on request of their Leader. The Leader can however request proof of illness for future unplanned absences or on the day of the illness if there is reasonable doubt about the pattern or nature of the Employee’s illness as described in the Proof of Illness Procedure. SICK AND CARER’S LEAVE. Employees who are absent from work due to personal illness, have the option to claim eight or twelve hours for the period of absence.  Employees are entitled to claim Carer’s leave for the purpose of caring for an immediate family or household member, who is sick and requires the employee’s care and support. Employees are entitled to ten days paid Personal/Carer’s leave per annum. The employee must establish, by production of a medical certificate or statutory declaration, the illness of the person concerned and that such illness requires care by the employee (Clause 7.2.6 of the Award).
SICK AND CARER’S LEAVE. An employee (other than a casual) is entitled to accrue up to 2 weeks (10 days) paid personal leave per annum which may be taken as sick and/or carer’s leave. a) Paid personal leave shall accrue at the rate of 1/6th of a week for each completed month of service with the Company. b) An employee (other than a casual employee) who is unable to attend work: i) on account of personal illness or injury; or ii) because the employee is required to provide care or support to a member of the employee’s immediate family or household who requires care or support as they are sick or injured or has an unexpected emergency; shall be entitled to take an amount of accrued paid personal leave subject to the provision of this clause. c) An employee shall as soon as reasonably practicable inform the Company of the employee’s inability to attend work and the estimated duration of the absence. d) To be entitled to paid personal leave after the first 2 single day absences in any 12 month period, the employee must give the Company:
SICK AND CARER’S LEAVE. 69.1 Officers may use their sick and carer’s leave: (a) for the purposes of personal illness or injury (b) for unforeseen personal emergencies (c) to attend appointments with a registered health practitioner (d) to manage a chronic condition (e) to provide care or support to a member of the officer’s family or household or a person they have caring responsibilities for, because: (i) of a personal illness or injury of the person; or (ii) of an unexpected emergency affecting the person.
SICK AND CARER’S LEAVE. 4.7.1 An employee (other than a casual) is entitled to accrue up to two (2) weeks (10 days) paid personal leave per annum which may be taken as sick and/or carer’s leave. 4.7.2 Paid personal leave shall accrue at the rate of 1/26th of a week for each completed month of service with the Company. 4.7.3 An employee (other than a casual employee) who is unable to attend work on account of personal illness or injury; or 4.7.3.1 because the employee is required to provide care or support to a member of the employee’s immediate family or household who requires care or support as they are sick or injured or has an unexpected emergency; 4.7.4 shall be entitled to take an amount of accrued paid personal leave subject to the provisions of this clause. 4.7.5 An employee shall as soon as reasonably practicable inform the Company of the employee’s inability to attend work and the estimated duration of the absence. 4.7.6 To be entitled to paid personal leave after the first two (2) single day absences in any 12 month period, the employee must give the Company: 4.7.7 if it is reasonably practicable to do so—a medical certificate from a registered health practitioner; or if it is not reasonably practicable for the employee to give the employer a medical certificate—a statutory declaration made by the employee; 4.7.8 attesting to the matters set out in paragraph 5.7.3.1 above. This subsection does not apply to an employee who could not comply with it because of circumstances beyond the employee’s control.

Sick leave days will count as shifts for the purpose of overtime payments. f. Leave for the purpose of sickness in family to be accessed without a medical certificate.

SICK AND CARER’S LEAVE. Sick Leave (a) CSIRO officers (except casual officers) will accrue 15 days paid leave for each completed year of service with CSIRO, which can be taken for a personal illness or injury of the officer. (b) A common sick leave accrual date of 1 January operates for all officers eligible for sick leave. (c) A full-time officer accrues sick leave credits subject to a maximum of 15 days per annum in the following manner: (i) on appointment, a pro-rata credit of sick leave at the rate of 1.25 days per completed calendar month multiplied by the number of whole months between commencement and the following 1 January, or the end of an officer’s term if prior to the following 1 January; (ii) thereafter, 15 days full pay sick leave per annum or a pro-rata credit for term officers at the rate of 1.25 days per completed calendar month where the term ends prior to the following 1 January. (d) Paid sick leave is cumulative but will not be paid out to the officer on termination of employment. Paid sick leave counts as service for all purposes. (e) Xxxx leave for part-time officers is credited on a pro-rata basis. Where a full-time officer changes to part-time work the officer’s sick leave balance will be adjusted so that it represents an equivalent number of weeks entitlement, expressed as hours. Where a part- time officer changes to full-time work the officer’s sick leave balance will be adjusted so that it represents an equivalent number of weeks entitlement, expressed as days. (f) An officer will not be entitled to paid sick leave for any period during which they are entitled to, or are receiving worker’s compensation payments. (g) An officer in receipt of workers compensation for more than 45 weeks will accrue sick leave on the basis of hours actually worked. (h) Where paid sick leave credits are exhausted, sick leave without pay may be granted on provision of satisfactory medical evidence. Periods of sick leave without pay in excess of 26 weeks will not count as service for any purpose. (i) An officer will not be retired on invalidity grounds without their consent before their paid sick leave credit has been exhausted. (j) An officer will not be entitled to paid sick leave or carer’s leave while also entitled to paid maternity leave under the Maternity Leave (Commonwealth Employment) Act 1973, as amended, or whilst absent on Parental Leave. SICK AND CARER’S LEAVE. Sick and Xxxxx’s Leave Credits 40.1 Full-time permanent employees are entitled to 10 days of paid Sick and Carers Leave on commencement with Shell Logistics and an additional 10 days after each 12 months of work. The 12 months of work does not include any period of unpaid leave or unauthorised absence. 40.2 Any Sick and Carers Leave balances that are not used will accrue without limit but are not payable on termination of employment.
