Union Business Leaves. Leaves of absence without pay may be granted, under normal conditions, to an employee elected by the Union to attend educational classes or conventions conducted by the Union. The number will not exceed two (2) employees at any one time, and the number of working days will not exceed six (6) in any one (1) calendar year.
Union Business Leaves a. Upon written request by the International Union, the Company will grant, if operating conditions permit, and reasonable notice has been provided, leaves up to two (2) weeks to the Bargaining Committee Chairman, for the purpose of attending Union district conferences of International Union conventions.
b. Absences from work of all other Bargaining Unit employees who are Local Union Officers, or who are required to perform official Union business will be excused, if operating conditions permit, provided request for such absence is received by the Company's Personnel Department as much in advance of such absence as is possible.
Union Business Leaves. A maximum of two (2) employees will be allowed to take an unpaid Union Leave at any one time, up to a maximum of five (5) days leave at a time, to attend Union meetings, conventions and conferences, to a maximum of ten (10) days in total of unpaid union leave per calendar year. The Company will also allow up to three (3) employees to attend collective bargaining meetings, including preparatory meetings. An annually scheduled single day of shop xxxxxxx training in Yorkton may be arranged, involving not more than five (5) employees, who shall be granted a day’s leave to attend the training on a date mutually agreed upon with the Company. In all cases of union leave, there shall be no more than one (1) employee in a department or work area granted leave. Unless agreed otherwise, all union leaves shall be without pay. For ease of administration, the Company will continue to pay employees while they are on approved union leave and will invoice the union to reimburse the cost of the employee’s wages and benefits.
Union Business Leaves. A. Upon thirty (30) days advance written notice the Employer agrees to grant a leave of absence for not more than three (3) years without pay to not more than two (2) employees who may be elected to a full-time Union position with the Local or International Union. While on such leave the employee shall not incur a break in continuous service. An employee on leave shall not be eligible for any other fringe benefits except for the specific pension provision applicable to the Union President under the State of Illinois Pension Code. In addition to the foregoing, three (3) employees covered by the Agreement shall, upon thirty (30) days written notice, be granted leave from their duties, but shall remain on the payroll, for the purpose of performing full-time duties on behalf of the Union. During such leave said employees shall continue to accumulate seniority and shall be eligible for and shall receive all benefits as if they were fully on duty, including, but not limited to, pension accruals. Effective January 1, 2002, the Union will reimburse the City in an amount equal to the cost of the salaries and fringe benefits contributions for employees on Union leave. The Employer shall remain responsible for its portion of the pension contribution.
B. Subject to the need for orderly scheduling and any emergency needs, and upon thirty (30) days advance written notice, the Employer agrees to release from work without loss of pay Union officials and representatives in order to attend bargaining sessions, membership meetings, executive board meetings, state conventions, national conventions, seminars, conferences or symposiums. It is provided, however, that this shall be limited to a maximum of 2640 hours annually. The Union shall supply the Employer with a list containing the names, Union office, rank and permanent assignment of all Union officials and representatives. Prior to any scheduled bargaining session, membership meeting or executive board meeting, the Union shall notify the Fire Department Labor Relations Chief, in writing, of the names of its officials or representatives requiring paid time off, and the anticipated length of the scheduled session or meeting. Union officials or representatives receiving paid time off to attend the session or meeting must return to work at the conclusion of said session or meeting.

Union Business Leaves. 21.1 Not more than two (2) members of the Union, shall be granted Union Business leave from duty with pay for the purposes of negotiating the terms of contracts or processing grievances. Union Business Leave shall be granted in lieu of the member[s]’s regularly –scheduled shift. Overtime will not be granted for the purposes of Union business. .
21.2 Such officers and members of the Union as may be designated by the Union shall be granted leave from duty with full pay for Union business, such as attending labor conventions and educational conferences, provided that the total leave for the purpose set forth in this section shall not exceed fifteen (15) days in any fiscal year, and provided that at least two (2) weeks' notice in writing to the Chief or his/her designee is given when employees expect to attend educational conferences or labor conventions.
21.3 The President of the Union or his designee shall be granted one day per month in lieu of shift for the purpose of attending to union business. Notification of the taking of such leave shall be provided within five business days prior to the leave.
Union Business Leaves. Members of the Union elected to attend functions such as conventions, or educational conferences, shall be allowed time off without pay to attend such conferences and/or conventions provided two (2) weeks advance notice is given to the Employer. The total cumulative time allowed shall be three (3) weeks in any fiscal year. Such leave shall only be granted if in the judgment of the Group Director for Operations/Facilities, the employee can be spared from work during the time the leave is requested, subject to the grievance procedure.
Union Business Leaves. CUPE LOCAL 74 - OUTSIDE
Union Business Leaves. (a) Trade Union Conventions - No more than two (2) employees will be permitted the time off to serve as delegates. Such leave is not to exceed ten (10) working days in any one year, except in the year of the Grand Lodge Convention, when an additional ten (10) working days will be granted to no more than two (2) delegates. The Union will notify the Company of an employee’s attendance at a convention at least two weeks before the leave begins. Should operating conditions require the Company to cancel Trade Union Convention leave, the Company will reimburse the Union for actual costs for the cancelled travel and accommodation which are not refundable to the Union conditional upon proof of such expense.
(b) Local Union Business - Reasonable leave of absence will be granted to the Union Committee for the purpose of local union business, upon request of the Chief Xxxxxxx or designate. Leaves of absence will not be unreasonably withheld. The Union will cooperate in avoiding disruption of production requirements. Such leave will normally be upon one (1) weeks’ notice in writing to the designated management person for regular Union Meetings.
(c) Union Time Within the Plant - A shop xxxxxxx or committeeperson will be permitted the necessary time during work hours without loss of pay for the purpose of using such time for the settlement of a complaint or grievance or any other function in regard to the administration and interpretation of the Collective Agreement. He will not leave his station except as provided by the above sentence, and only with the permission of and having informed his supervisor as to the nature of the business.
(d) The Company recognizes that the Business Representative of the Union will from time to time be required to enter the premises during normal working hours for the purpose of adjusting grievances and meeting with management. He shall provide the Company with one working day notice [Monday through Friday, excluding holidays] of such visits, and permission shall not unreasonably be withheld. The requirement for one working day notice may be waived in urgent cases. The Business Representative shall announce his presence to the HR Manager or designate prior to entering the premises, and is subject to all safety rules while on the premises. The Union will cooperate in avoiding disruption of production requirements.
Union Business Leaves. A regular employee elected to a union office or selected by FOPPO to do work which takes the employee from employment with the County may, upon request of the employee and FOPPO, be granted a leave of absence without pay for up to 3 months. Such leave shall always be contingent upon the operating requirements of the involved department. Prior to expiration of such leave and upon written request, the County will give consideration to extending said leave for an additional 2 months. Any employee who has been granted such leave and who fails to return at the expiration of said leave shall be considered as having resigned the employee's position with the County. The denial of such request for leave shall not be grievable under Article 18.
