UNION SECURITY AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 6.01 A nurse will be a member of the Union on the effective date of this Agreement and shall continue membership in the Union for the duration of this Agreement to the extent of paying the monthly dues uniformly required of all Union members. 6.02 During the life of this Agreement, the Company agrees to deduct, as hereinafter provided, monthly dues uniformly levied against all Union members from the pay of its nurses. 6.03 The deduction for dues shall be made weekly. Union dues for each succeeding month shall be deducted from the nurse's first pay received in that month in which the nurse has sufficient net earnings to cover Union dues. 6.04 For the purposes of this Article, Union dues shall be the amount of monthly dues uniformly levied by the Union on its members in accordance with its Constitution and By-Laws. 6.05 The Union will advise the Company through its designated representative, by letter, not later than the fifth (5th) day of the month following the effective date of this Agreement, of the amount of monthly Union dues uniformly levied on each of its members for the month. Thereafter, in the event of any change in this amount, the Union Representative will in the same manner advise the Company of the change no later than the fifteenth (15th) day of the month prior to the month in which the change is to become effective. 6.06 Deductions for a nurse who is laid off, given leave of absence or permanently transferred from the bargaining unit shall be automatically resumed upon the nurse's return following such layoff, leave of absence or transfer from the bargaining unit, from the nurse's first pay received in which the 6.07 The Company will use its best endeavors to comply with the provisions of this Article. UNION SECURITY AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 4.01 It is also agreed by the parties that all present employees of the company will pay union dues as a condition of employment. All new employees hired shall, as a condition of employment, sign authorization cards to have deducted from their pay the monthly union dues or an equivalent sum, and shall, at the completion of the probationary period, have deducted from their pay the initiation fee, which will be checked off by the company. 4.02 The amounts so deducted will be such sums as may from time to time be assessed by the union on its members in accordance with the constitution and/or by-laws of the National and Local Union. 4.03 The company agrees to forward to the financial secretary of the appropriate Local Union by cheque each month, not later than the 10th day of the following month, the amount deducted and also a list of the employees from whom the deductions were made and who were not checked off and the reason. 4.04 The financial secretary of each Local Union will notify the company of any change in the amount of union dues and/or initiation fees, that may from time to time take place in line with constitutional requirements. 4.05 It is understood and agreed by the parties that the above check-off procedures does not compel the employee to become a member of the union, nor does it compel the company to discharge an employee if the employee is suspended or expelled from the union under the National Constitution trial procedure.

The notice will include the new employee's name, address, classification and supervisor's name. 5.05 The Employer agrees to acquaint each new employee with the fact that a Union agreement is in effect, and with the conditions of employment as set out in Articles 5.01, 5.02 and 5.03. UNION SECURITY AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 1.01 The Employer agrees to call the Local Union for its supply of additional workers. If the Local Union is unable to supply existing members who are qualified, residing in the area of the job within twenty-four (24) hours, the Employer is free to hire such labour as is available. Non- resident Union members will also be given preference of employment provided they apply at the job, in which case travel allowances will not apply.

The Union shall, from time to time, inform the Employer as to the amount of dues to be deducted from each employee. 6.02 Union dues shall be deducted from an employee's pay bi- weekly and shall be forwarded to the Secretary Treasurer of the Union no later than the 15th day of the month following. With the remittance of such union dues the Employer shall forward a list of the names of employees and their classification from whose wages union dues have been deducted and the amount paid by each employee. 6.03 The Employer agrees to set out on an employee's T-4 Income Tax Report Form the amount of annual dues paid for the taxation year to which the T-4 Income Tax Report Form applies.
UNION SECURITY AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. L6.01 On each pay date on which a member of the Bargaining Unit is paid, the Employer shall deduct from each employee such dues or assessments as are levied by the Union in accordance with its constitution and/or by-laws. The amounts to be deducted shall be determined by the Union, and written notice of the amount(s) or any change(s) thereto shall be forwarded to the Employer at least thirty (30) days prior to the effective date. L6.02 Deductions shall be forwarded monthly to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Union not later than the fifteenth (15th) day of the month following the month in which the deductions were made. The monthly remittance to the Union shall be accompanied by lists of the names and addresses, phone numbers, work site, job class, FTE status, wages paid for the period and the union dues deducted for all employees from whose wages deductions have been made. Employees shall be exempt from having union dues deducted while they are on full-time Long Term Disability or while they are in receipt of full-time WSIB benefits for a period of greater than two (2) weeks. L6.03 The Union shall indemnify and save the Employer harmless from any and all claims, suits, attachments or any form of liability whatsoever as a result of any dues deductions which have been authorized by the Union.

UNION SECURITY AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 4.01 All employees who are now members of the Union shall remain members of the Union and all new employees shall become members of the Union after they have completed their probationary period as a condition of employment. 4.02 Employees will be required to permit the deduction from their pay, each pay period, of an amount equivalent to the regular bi-weekly dues of the Union commencing in the case of new employees at the time of the regular monthly check-off on the first day of employment. Such deductions shall be made and remitted by the Employer to the Treasurer of the Local not later than the fifth (5th) day of the month following the month when such deductions are made. Within fifteen (15) days, such deductions so remitted shall be accompanied by a list of those employees who have been added to or deleted from the master list. Employees will be required to permit the deduction from their pay, from time to time, any special or additional dues properly assessed in accordance with the Local Union by-laws as approved by the National Union. The Employer agrees to deduct union dues from summer students who earn an hourly wage of ten (10) dollars or more. The Union agrees to save the Employer harmless from all deductions made from an employee’s pay as provided herein. a) The Employer agrees that it will acquaint new employees with the fact that a Union agreement is in effect and with the conditions of employment set out in the articles dealing with Union Security, dues check-off, and give each new employee a copy of this Agreement. b) In cases where a large number of new employees are hired at one time, the Employer agrees that it will, in concert with up to three (3) members of the executive as designated by the President, acquaint new employees as per paragraph (a) above. 4.04 In order to provide job security for the current members of the bargaining unit, the Employer agrees that all work or services which are currently performed by bargaining unit employees shall not be sub-contracted, transferred, leased, assigned, or conveyed, privatized, in whole or in part to any other plant, person, company, or non-bargaining unit employee. The foregoing will not operate so as to prohibit the contracting out of work or services of the same type performed by the bargaining unit members, provided that such contracting out is in addition to the continued work of the bargaining unit members or is restricted to periods of peak demands. 4.05 The Employer agrees that all ...

The amount of dues to be deducted will be as specified by the Union and the Union agrees to notify the Employer in writing not later than the fifteenth day of the month of any changes in dues and, in the case of an increase in dues, to furnish the Employer with the proper authorization to make such changes effective the first day of the following month. 4:02 Employees who, at the date of this Agreement, are within the bargaining unit, may become members of the Union if they wish to do so.
