Bus Driver Assignments. A. Bus driver work hours will be determined by the length of time necessary to complete assigned routes. The Transportation Supervisor shall be responsible for creating and assigning all routes. The most senior driver will be given the route with the most hours. The remaining routes will be assigned to employees based on their seniority (i.e., the longer – in terms of hours – routes will be assigned to the drivers with greater seniority). The Transportation Supervisor shall determine length of time necessary to complete said routes and report this to the Board Treasurer’s office by the completion of the third full week of school. The length of time shall include time allotted for gassing, cleaning, and pre-trip inspection as determined by the Transportation Supervisor. These hours will remain in effect for the remainder of the contract year unless, as determined by the Transportation Supervisor, the time required has substantially changed as a result of the addition or removal of students. If this occurs, the Transportation Supervisor may assess the route and report the new length of time to the Board Treasurer’s office. Hours paid prior to the original establishment of time will be adjusted according to the set route length. The Transportation Supervisor will reassign the routes as identified above if a route is changed by fifteen (15) or more minutes.
B. When school vans are used to transport students, they will be driven by Bus Drivers. The exception will be if a building principal assigns a certified/licensed staff member to transport a student home due to an emergency.
C. The Board retains the authority to utilize a private service or mass transit vehicle to transport students on IEPs to their educational programming on a per instance basis.
D. If for any reason a bus driver is deemed non-certificated by the Lorain Educational Service Center in accordance with the Ohio Department of Motor Vehicles, the employment contract between the Board and the employee is automatically terminated without the necessity of Board action.
E. The Board shall pay the cost of bus driver or employee abstracts at any time the Board requests abstracts to determine eligibility of an employee to drive Board- owned vehicles or to transport students/staff.
F. Drivers shall be compensated at their regular rate of pay for added time required for any drug testing.
Bus Driver Assignments. 18.8.1 School Bus Drivers must report thirty-five (35) minutes prior to the "AM" route, five (5) minutes prior to the "Mid-day" route, and five (5) minutes prior to the "PM" route scheduled.
Bus Driver Assignments a) The Board has the sole right to create a package of run assignments prior to the start of the school year. A package may consist of any group of runs that the school designates.
b) When creating a package, the Board will attempt to place as may runs as possible in a given package, not to exceed eight (8) hours.
c) The board shall present the package assignments to Union representatives prior to presentation to all drivers. The designated Union representatives shall have forty-eight (48) hours to present alternative package options to the Board. In no event shall the Board be required to change any package that would result in that package having more than five (5) minutes layover time.
d) Drivers will be provided a choice of available packages prior to the start of each school year. At a special meeting set by the Board, each employee shall bid on the packages, by seniority.
e) Within a package, layover time will be paid when there is less than one (1) full hour between scheduled runs, if an unintentional delay (i.e. inclement weather, breakdown, unavoidable delay) is longer than fifteen (15) minutes, the driver will be compensated at the regular rate.
f) When a run is consistently late for a period of two (2) weeks, the driver has a right to request re-timing of that run. The re-timing will occur within two (2) weeks of the request.
g) The Board shall post a new run as an individual run unless otherwise agreed to by the Union and the Board. An employee may bid on the new run provided it does not conflict with their regularly scheduled assignments. The Board shall then assign the run to an employee on the basis of seniority, provided the Board would not be obligated to assign a new run on any driving schedule where such an assignment creates unnecessary lay-over time. (Refer to 20.6)
h) Bus drivers shall receive fifteen (15) minutes paid time to check out their bus for safety the first time the bus is driven each day.
i) It is the intent of the parties to have all primary/elementary and middle/high school regular runs one and one quarter (1 1/4) hours in length whenever possible. Special Education, one middle/high school short, two primary/elementary short, vocational runs are excluded. Adequate time (15 minutes over and above a regular run) will be allowed for bus drivers to commute between schools when crossing Van Dyke (e.g. primary/elementary afternoon run for drivers not having a middle/high school run).
j) Bus drivers shall be paid for regular run...
Bus Driver Assignments. A. Bus drivers’ work hours will be determined by the length of time necessary to complete assigned routes with a minimum of four (4) hours per day.
B. Except as specified below, when school vans are used to transport students, they will be driven by Bus Drivers. The exceptions to the preceding are as follows:

Bus Driver Assignments. The District will make every reasonable attempt to provide a maximum number of hours to drivers on a seniority basis subject to the conditions of Section 10.7. There will be no guarantee to any driver for eight (8) hour assignments. Drivers who are scheduled to drive a route after the completion of their regular routes shall be compensated for up to thirty (30) minutes of layover time at their regular hourly rate. Employees are expected to perform driver duties, such as calling families or checking email, during paid layover time. The District will work on providing space in buildings for drivers to check email, call parents, etc.
Bus Driver Assignments a. Prior to the first day of the school year one meeting will be held wherein bus drivers will be given the opportunity to identify their preferred routes. Assignments will be made considering preference and seniority.
b. Assignment changes during the school year will be made considering preference, seniority and district needs.
c. Activity/sport trip assignments will be made based on a list of driver requests for such assignments. Drivers will need to have one year of experience of driving for the District (or equivalent experience driving with a CDL as approved by the Director of Transportation) before being qualified for trips of more than 50 miles (one way). Assignments will be made based on a rotation through the list of qualified and interested drivers. Trip assignments will be posted on an appropriate bulletin board for review by all drivers.
Bus Driver Assignments. 20 16.4.1 The District shall determine which routes will be bid annually 21 before the start of school, if possible. Bidding shall be in order of 22 seniority. All runs available for bid shall be prominently posted prior 23 to the commencement of the bidding process. In general, all runs will 24 be available for bid except those which have the “ten speed” driver 25 qualification requirements.
26 16.4.2 At the beginning of each school year, all school bus drivers 27 shall be provided with at least five (5) hours of paid in-service. 28 Drivers will be paid their normal rate of salary in order to bid on routes 29 during said in-service.
1 16.4.3 When during the year a permanent route becomes vacant, or 2 when a new permanent run is created, the vacancy shall be put up for 3 bid.
Bus Driver Assignments. A bid meeting will be held ten (10) days prior to the welcome back breakfast for the bidding of all bus driver and special education bus aide assignments. Maps and student information for each bus run/route, along with shuttles or other driving or special education bus aide assignments, will be made available to each employee three (3) work days before the bid meeting. Only Union members classified as bus drivers or special education bus aides will be allowed to attend bid meeting. Driving and special education bus aide assignments shall be bid by group seniority. Pay for all time spent at this bid meeting will not exceed one (1) hour for special education bus aides. Drivers shall bid their routes, drive their routes, and make contact with parents of each student on their routes. Bus drivers will need to attend the Meet-and-Greet sessions at the elementary school where the majority of their riders attend, to make contact with parents of students on their routes. Drivers will need to follow up with all parents that were not contacted at the Meet- and-Greet sessions. All parent contacts must be completed no later than four (4) days prior to the first day of school. Bus drivers shall be paid six (6) hours for all time at the bid meeting, driving routes, and contacting of parents. Drivers and special education bus aides shall be paid for the posted time and any changes thereto, or actual driving time, whichever is greater. There shall be no bumping during the school year, however, a bid meeting will be held if a substitute has been assigned to temporarily fill a position known to be a permanent vacancy and/or the School District has reduced or increased the time posted for a bid driving or Special Education Bus Aide assignment by more than thirty (30) minutes. A route that has been increased by more than thirty (30) minutes, shall be available to all drivers and Special Education Bus Aides with less driving or Special Education Bus Aide time for bid at the meeting. A driver or Special Education Bus Aide who has had his/her route reduced by thirty
Bus Driver Assignments. A. Special Program (e.g. Special Education) routes shall be available for bid on the basis of greatest classification seniority annually. Bid on the Special Education route will occur annually once the route is known, but in no case shall the bid occur after August 15. All other regular routes shall be assigned according to location of the driver's residence in relation to the schools, if possible. All regular routes will be reviewed annually by the administration to see if routes can be adjusted to get the route closer to driver’s house.
B. Drivers will be expected to park assigned vehicles at their residence if they reside in the district. Any exception must be approved by the Superintendent. At such time that the district can accommodate parking buses on site, the district may choose to have drivers pick up and return their buses to the district before and after each route.
C. Regular drivers are asked to volunteer to substitute on special education runs. The driver must accept the entire assignment.
D. Field trips and activity trips are assigned to regular drivers. In the initial drivers' meeting of the school year and two weeks prior to each athletic season, drivers shall indicate their desire to accept these trips. Field trips are those generally assigned before or after school hours and transport more than fifteen (15) students. Drivers who indicate willingness to accept these trips shall be assigned in rotation by classification seniority order and will receive the extra trip pay for the extra trip or their regular route pay (including the over 25 mile pay for that route) whichever is greater. The rotation list will be posted each month in the bus garage. Substitute drivers are not assigned to field trips, activity trips, special trips, special education routes, or ISD Educational Center routes, unless no regular driver is available for that duty. This article does not prevent Xxxxxxxxx Schools or booster organizations from securing a commercial carrier or private vehicle to transport students on special occasions.
E. Any driver so assigned to a field and/or activity trip may notify the employer in writing that he/she wishes to waive compensation for the assignment.
F. Double runs will be assigned in rotation by classification seniority order whenever possible. The driver accepting the double run shall be paid his/her regular route pay and the pay the other driver would have received had he/she driven the route.
Bus Driver Assignments. Bus drivers shall have a regularly assigned run. However, the Administration may reassign or change bus runs based upon changes in enrollment, class scheduling, student needs, bus efficiency, emergency, and the like. The Administration will make reasonable efforts not to reassign regularly scheduled runs.
