APPOINTMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS. 11.1 Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Principal Lecturers are defined as benefits-eligible teaching faculty. The appointments are made for the academic year, and the Department Chair, Program Coordinator, or Director will assign courses and duties following the requirements in Article 12: Workload Activities of Lecturer Faculty, subject to the approval of the Xxxx. Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Principal Lecturers are under no research or creative scholarship expectations, and are not eligible for tenure.
11.2 Lecturer Faculty will be appointed by the Xxxx of the College in consultation with the Department Chair or Program Coordinator. All appointments shall be offered by the Xxxx in writing and accepted in writing by the lecturer. The lecturer appointment letter shall specify this is a term contract subject to renewal or non-renewal and contingent on valid work authorization and successful background check. It shall include:
a) the effective date of the appointment or reappointment;
b) the percent time of the appointment or reappointment;
c) the rank of the appointment or reappointment;
d) salary for the first year of the appointment period (including annual salary and that the Lecturer Faculty member will be paid on a bi-weekly basis.
e) the number of Teaching Activities, PSA, and/or SAS units expected (as outlined in Article 12: Workload Activities of Lecturer Faculty);
f) recognition that the position is subject to USNH and UNH policies and is governed by the terms and conditions of this Collective Bargaining Agreement;
g) a statement indicating that the UNH Lecturer Union will contact the Lecturer Faculty about becoming a member of the bargaining unit; and
h) whether or not the appointment is a joint appointment, and if a joint appointment, specify the home department and refer to Xxxxxxx Office policy on "Joint Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Appointments".
11.3 Appointment letters for continuing lecturers shall be offered by March 1 for lecturers who are in their first or second year, and by January 15 for lecturers who are in their third year or thereafter. (These dates are consistent with non-renewals. See Article 15:Termination of Employment.)
11.4 New and continuing lecturers will be appointed at one of three ranks: Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Principal Lecturer. APPOINTMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS. 1. All Teaching Lecturer appointments and assignments will be made by the Xxxxxxx, or by another appropriate administrator at the University, following the recommendation of the Program Coordinator or Designated Personnel Evaluator. Appointments shall be made on a semester or annual basis only and shall be limited in duration to the particular semester or academic year for which the Teaching Lecturer is retained. Except as otherwise specifically provided for in this Agreement, no appointment shall create any right, interest or expectancy in any further appointments beyond its specific term.
2. Teaching Lecturers who have served five (5) continuous years of University teaching service and who are appointed for a sixth year will receive an appointment for a full academic year rather than semester assignments. Such appointments may include a varying number of assignments based on the criteria of this article and it is understood that, despite the annual appointment, a faculty member may receive no course assignments for a given semester of that appointment year.
3. Each semester, the University shall determine the courses which need to be filled by Teaching Lecturers and when such courses shall be offered. The University shall consider the following factors in deciding whether a Teaching Lecturer will receive an available assignment:
a. seniority
b. the credentials and qualifications (including sub-specialties and areas of particular expertise) of current Teaching Lecturers, PSU faculty and staff, and other available faculty from outside the University;
c. the teaching experience of current Teaching Lecturers, PSU faculty and staff, and other available faculty from outside the University;
x. xxxxxxxxxxx and work performance of Teaching Lecturers, and PSU faculty and staff;
e. the stated availability of Teaching Lecturers based on the submission of the availability form referred to in Section 6 below and f. the needs of the department.
APPOINTMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS. A. All adjunct faculty appointments and assignments will be made by the Xxxx of a particular school, or his/her designee, or by another appropriate administrator at the College in consultation with Department Chairpersons. All appointments shall normally be made on a semester basis and shall be limited in duration to the particular semester for which the adjunct faculty member is appointed. However, nothing shall preclude the College in its sole discretion from offering an adjunct an appointment for an entire academic year, or as provided for in section I of this article.
B. Each semester the College shall determine the courses which need to be filled by adjunct faculty members and to whom such courses shall be offered.
C. Any adjunct who desires to teach during an upcoming academic year shall submit to each Department Chair/program coordinator in whose department/program the adjunct wishes to teach a teaching availability form (See Appendix A) which shall indicate the courses that the adjunct is interested in teaching; the adjunct's particular availability for posted course offerings; and the adjunct's general availability to teach in the upcoming semester or academic year, including the times and days of the week he or she can teach. The College will make the form available on the school’s website Such form shall be submitted to each Department Chairperson, program coordinator or his/her designee in whose department/program the adjunct wishes to teach no later October 1 for the next academic year. While the form must be submitted by October 1 in order to be deemed eligible for an assignment, the adjunct may amend the form in case of changed personal circumstances up until January 15 for the next academic year. In addition to submission of the teaching availability form, and as part of this notice, the adjunct must also provide any of the following information or updates on such information that may be on file with the College:

a. Degrees held and other educational credits and experience.
b. Experience in teaching the particular course or courses either at Xxxxx State College or at other institutions of higher education, including the years or semesters in which such courses were taught.
c. The adjunct faculty member may also indicate other experience either in teaching or in other professional endeavors which would be relevant for teaching the particular course or courses offered.

When qualifications and experience of applicants for a position are judged by the District to be relatively equal, the appointment or assignment to the position shall be granted to the most senior applicant in the tenure area of the position. This provision applies to vacancies in a building other than the building to which the unit member is currently assigned.
