Custodians and Maintenance. The workday shall consist of eight and one-half (8½) hours including a non-paid duty free lunch period of thirty (30) consecutive minutes in length. If approved by the Maintenance Director, during days when students are not in attendance (except for day when tournaments or games take place) night shift custodians may work the hours of the day shift custodians. The regular work year shall consist of 260 days.

B. In the event an employee is called to work on an emergency basis, two (2) hours call-in pay will be guaranteed. Call-in pay will be paid on a straight time basis.

1. Five (5) pairs of pants (100% cotton – permanent press)
2. Five (5) shirts (100% cotton – permanent press)
3. Two (2) denim long sleeve shirts
4. Two (2) pairs of shorts 5. Two (2) heavyweight, thermal, zippered sweatshirts In addition, one heavy parka and one raincoat with zip-in lining shall be purchased and supplied by the Board and replaced on an as needed basis. The employee shall be responsible for laundering. If it becomes necessary to substitute or replace the uniform during the term of the contract, it shall be by mutual agreement of the Board and the Association. All maintenance and custodial personnel shall be permitted to submit a voucher with proof of purchase for reimbursement up to $75.00 for shoes, or $100.00 for steel toe safety shoes, as a shoe allowance.
X. Xxx custodians will arrive at their regularly scheduled time on snow days and night custodians will be assigned by the administration to work either during the day or regular hours.
E. Promotions to positions shall consider ability and experience. Seniority shall be considered but it shall not be controlling.
F. Overtime work shall be offered to custodians and maintenance on a rotating seniority basis but shall be only offered to those employees who are permanently assigned to the building in which overtime work is required. Those employees shall receive time-and-one-half (11/2) for those hours worked beyond the eight (8) hour day. Employees who are full time, i.e. forty (40) hours a week, shall be paid the rate of double time for any work done on Sundays or holidays. Employees who are employed for less than forty (40) hours a week are to be paid time-and-one- half (11/2) for any work done on Sundays or holidays. The administration retains the right to assign overtime work as well as other assignments. Employees shall not be required to work any consecutive double shifts. However, the employee may volunteer to do so. In the schools where there is a single custodian, the Administration agrees to contact not less than three (3) other custodians at other schools seeking to find ...

Custodians and Maintenance. A. Monday through Friday shall constitute a normal work week. However, in furtherance of the operation of the schools the Superintendent may require a work week to begin on a day other than a Monday. Any assignment with a work schedule that includes a Saturday or a Sunday as a regular work day will be paid on the basis of the regular salary schedule. As part of their regular work week for day shift employees, employees may be required to work at all Board job sites and tasks (and at Town Hall and the Town Library, at the discretion of the Board). Custodians and maintenance workers shall be notified in writing of their work schedules for the ensuing school year by June 1. Any such employee whose schedule is to be changed shall be notified in writing and subsequently consulted prior to making the change. The employee shall be given an opportunity to express his/her opinion regarding the new assignment. Nothing herein shall be deemed to affect any rights and obligations of the parties under the Municipal Employee Relations Act.
B. When required, custodial extra work time shall be offered on an equalized rotational basis, to the extent practical. Members of the custodial staff shall be offered the extra work time by seniority first on a rotational basis to the extent practical. Employees electing not to work extra work time shall be treated as though they worked the time for purposes of maintaining the equalized rotational basis.
Custodians and Maintenance. A. There shall be a 12 month work year. The employer retains the right to determine the number of ESP employees on the work force.
B. The work day shall be 8 hours inclusive of a 30 minute paid meal period.
C. Except in the case of an emergency an ESP employee shall be given a 48 hour notice before a temporary change in work shift or hours is implemented. An ESP employee shall be given a 3 week notice before a permanent change in work shift or hours is implemented. Although the employer has the absolute right to make such changes, the employer shall, when possible, consult with the ESP employee. No ESP employee shall be required to work a split shift with a gap of unpaid time more than twice a year.
D. Any ESP employee called to return to work following the completion of his/her regular shift and before the start of his/her next regular shift shall receive a minimum of three

Custodian and maintenance employees shall receive one and one-half (1½) times regular salary for any time worked beyond the normal work day on those days where there is a shortage of personnel due to the unavailability of substitutes. Notice to work overtime will be issued by the supervisor and may not be taken without his/her authority. Submitted and approved overtime shall be forwarded for reimbursement processing every two (2) weeks.

This will allow the custodian to leave early prior to the non- student attendance day and complete the work the following day as long as this does not conflict with building use. The division of hours and days will be determined by the administration. Split shift hours shall not constitute overtime.

When secretaries are required to call substitute employees outside their regular work day, secretaries will be paid minimally one (1) hour for this responsibility. Secretaries will document the time and persons called. Each secretary will be required to perform this duty on an equitable rotation. By 7:00 a.m., the designated calling secretary will inform the appropriate principal(s) of any unfilled positions. The Board will reimburse long distance expenses with the submission of documentation.
Custodians and Maintenance a. Custodians and maintenance personnel shall not be required to work on the following days if school is closed or not in session:
1. The day after Thanksgiving
2. The day before Christmas
3. The day after Christmas
4. The day before New Year’s Day

b. In the event any of the named holidays in Section B, 2, (a) or (d) of this article fall on a day when school is in session or is open, then another day off with pay in lieu thereof shall be scheduled by the business administrator for each employee affected.
c. In order to be eligible for holiday pay, an employee must work the last regularly scheduled day before the holiday and the first regularly scheduled workday after the holiday unless absent for justifiable reason.
d. In the event Christmas falls on a weekend, employees shall receive the Friday before and the Monday after as the day before Christmas Day holiday and the Christmas Day holiday respectively. In the event New Year's Day falls on a Saturday, employees shall receive the Thursday and Friday before as the day before the New Year's holiday and the New Year's Day holiday respectively. In the event New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, employees shall receive the Friday before and the Monday after as the day before New Year's Day holiday and the New Year's Day holiday respectively.
