Group Seniority. This shall consist of the seniority accumulated by an employee working in any of the groups listed below.

Group Seniority. (a) An employee shall accrue group seniority from the date of appointment as a regular employee to a position within the group lists defined in the Group Seniority Schedules. (b) When an employee is demoted, his/her group seniority shall include all time in the higher group, in addition to his/her original group seniority in the lower group. (c) Upon reinstatement to the higher group, the employee shall be credited with all previous seniority in that group. (d) Where a tie in group seniority occurs, service seniority shall be the deciding factor.
Group Seniority. (19.1) Within the product areas as defined in Section 7.1 of this Agreement there shall be established skilled trades groups (hereinafter referred to individually as “groups”) as set forth in Exhibit B. (19.2) Group seniority will be measured from an employee’s last date of hire in a group, in any capacity, at the Company’s present Decatur Plant, provided that for a graduate apprentice who enters a group, his group seniority within the group shall be the period of his apprenticeship plus his length of service in that group. (“Date of hire” for an employee moved to a group at the Company’s present Decatur Plant, in any capacity, either at his request or the Company’s request, shall be considered the date of such move.) (19.3) Group seniority is broken for the following reasons only: If the employee quits. If an employee is discharged and not reinstated. If the employee refuses, while laid off, to accept a recall to work (issued by the Company) or fails to report for work in accordance with such recall within a period of ten calendar days after the mailing of recall notification by the Company. The Company will grant an extension to the ten-day period if prior to the expiration of the ten-day period a satisfactory reason is given for the employee’s inability to immediately report for work. If an employee has been laid off from a group for a period greater than his accumulated group seniority at time of layoff. (However, this shall not apply during the first two years of layoff.) If an employee fails, unless satisfactory reason is given, to report for work by his fourth scheduled workday following a temporary reduction in force or any other layoff where the return to work date has been announced prior to the beginning of such layoff and such employee has received written notice of such date. (19.4) An employee who moves from one group to another group, or from a job in a group to another job outside of any group but within the Bargaining Unit, shall retain his group seniority in the group from which he was moved, but shall not accumulate group seniority in the group from which he was moved after the date of such move. (19.5) If, under this Agreement, an employee is laid off from a group, the employee’s group seniority shall accumulate during the layoff in the group in which he last worked. Group Seniority. (10.1) Within each of the bargaining units represented by Locals Nos. 145, 751, 974, and 2096 as set forth in Section 2.1 of this Agreement, there shall be skilled trades groups (hereinafter referred to individually as “group”) as set forth in each Exhibit B to the Local Agreements for such bargaining units. Group seniority shall be measured and applied in accordance with applicable provisions of such Local Agreements. (10.2) Article 12 and Article 13, except to the extent provided for in a Local Agreement described in Section 10.1, shall not be applicable to an employee covered by this Article 10.
Group Seniority. New employees when hired will be assigned to a group and will accumulate seniority in the group. When an employee bids to a different group and accumulates two (2) months of service within one (l) year, he/she will be credited with his/her full Plant seniority in that group. Group Seniority. Group Seniority shall equate to the total length of service an employee has within a Functional Group as listed in Article If for any reason an employee returns to a Functional Group in which he was previously employed, Functional Group seniority in that group shall equal all service originally credited, as well as any service in any other Functional Groups in which has worked since initial departure from that group. Where a job vacancy occurs, or a new job is created, notice shall be posted for a period of seven (7) calendar days with a copy of the notice being sent to the Union. The employee with the most seniority with the Company shall, if meets the qualifications for the position, be promoted or transferred laterally to the Bargaining Unit position. If there are employees with more seniority than the successful applicant, they will be provided with reasons in writing why the Company found them not to be qualified. The successful employee shall be placed on trial for a period of up to three (3) months. If during this trial period the employee performs unsatisfactorily, or if the employee so requests, will be returned to former position with no loss of seniority. At the conclusion of a successful trial period the employee will be advised in writing that his new position has been confirmed. Nothing in this Article precludes the Company from hiring an employee from outside the Company when no employee applies, or is accepted. No employee shall be transferred to a position outside the Bargaining Unit without consent, and the employee will not be penalized for such refusal. Where management or sales vacancies occur, the Company agrees to post such vacancies for informational purposes only. No time limits are to be imposed and no preference is to be accorded any Bargaining Unit applicant for such vacancies under any circumstances. When an employee is transferred from one location to another, the Company agrees it will incur reasonable costs of moving the personal effects of the employee. Additionally the Company will allow the employee a reasonable amount of time off (maximum of two (2) days), without loss of wages, to facilitate the moving of personal effects The employee will be responsible for obtaining three (3) quotes as to the cost thereof, and will instruct the lowest to directly bill the Company.   • Super Seniority For purposes of layoff and recall only, the President shall head the seniority list, provided however, that such officer must have the necessary skill and experience to perform the required work. The Sheriff agrees that this section shall not be applied in an arbitrary manner.

  • SENIORITY (a) Newly hired full-time employees shall be considered on a probationary basis for a period of three (3) months from the date of hiring. After three (3) months of continuous service, his/her seniority shall date back to the day in which his/her employment began. (b) Persons on probation may be terminated without recourse to the grievance procedure. However, such persons shall be given the reason(s) for termination in each case. The rate for probationary employees shall be that of this Agreement. (a) A seniority list for all full-time employees and a separate seniority list for all part-time employees shall be drawn and posted on the bulletin board. (b) The Employer and Union agree to place employees on a seniority list as per Article 11; however, in the event that employees share the same seniority date the following process for placement on the seniority list, in order, will be used: i) date of hire ii) date probation is completed as per article 11.01 iii) first to complete their next scheduled shift iv) time of clock in if worked same shift 11.03 In all cases of lay-off due to lack of work or recall following a lay-off, the employee with the greatest amount of seniority will be retained in employment or recalled to work, whichever is applicable, provided he/she is qualified to perform the work available. 11.04 Seniority previously accumulated will be lost whenever an employee: (a) quits his/her employment, or retires; (b) is discharged and not reinstated; (c) is absent from work without reasonable explanation; (d) she/he is a part-time employee who has not been available for three (3) consecutive calendar months and is not on an approved absence as per the provisions of this agreement; (e) is laid off for twelve (12) consecutive months or time equal to the employee's length of service, whichever is greater; (f) fails to return from lay-off within six (6) days of work after being notified to do so; the employee to be recalled must keep the Employer informed of his/her current address and telephone number. Notice of recall may be by telephone, but in all cases a registered letter shall be used either as notice or confirmation. 11.05 The selection or appointment of employees for supervisory positions, or for any position not subject to this Agreement, is not governed by this Agreement. However, if any employee is or has been transferred or appointed, and later transferred back to a position which is governed by this Agreement, then the seniority which he/she has accumulated under this Agreement shall be credited to the employee. Subject to the time period set out in 11.04 (e) any time spent working outside the bargaining unit shall be deemed a lay-off for the purpose of this article.

  • Classification Seniority Classification Seniority" is defined as the length of service in a specific job classification within the bargaining unit, beginning with the date an employee starts to serve a probationary appointment. Classification Seniority shall be interrupted only by separation because of resignation, discharge for just cause, failure to return upon expiration of a leave of absence, failure to respond to a recall from layoff, or retirement.

  • Bargaining Unit Seniority The length of continuous service in a position or succession of positions within Bargaining Unit Two (2), beginning with the last date of hire or transfer into the Bargaining Unit, as defined by seniority credits.
