Pay Differentials. 1. All pay differentials are based on extra work and/or greater responsibilities or specific credentials/endorsements. In the event the parties agree a pay differential is appropriate or desirable and is not a part of this Agreement, the parties agree to negotiate an agreement to compensate such teachers. 2. Any teacher receiving a contract that exceeds the required one hundred eighty-four (184) days of service shall receive a pay differential prorated at one one-hundred eighty-fourth (1/184) of the teacher's contracted salary for each extra day of service needed. Any teacher required to work on an extended calendar shall receive an extended contract. The following teachers shall work on an extended contract: a. Secondary school counselors and librarians: five (5) days; b. Elementary school counselors and librarians: three (3) days; elementary school librarians who are assigned to more than one school: six (6) days; c. JROTC Instructors shall have an extended contract and salary as provided in federal regulations. JROTC Instructor salaries shall not be reduced during the school year as a result of an increase in military retirement benefits. 1.) Effective July 1, 2005, the District’s share of the JROTC Instructor annual salary shall be increased by $4,000.00. The new total District portion above the minimum shall be $6,200.00. 2.) Annual percentage increases to the District portion of the minimum JROTC Instructor pay are no longer applicable. 3.) The compensation agreed to herein covers instructional duties and non-instructional duties beyond the duty day. d. Vocational teachers shall receive an extended contract based upon performance of the following duties, or combination thereof, as approved and verified by the Director of Vocational Education. Days used for advisory committee and youth organization activities may be an accumulation of time worked on either non-school days or before or after the regular duty day. Sick time will be documented by the teacher. 1.) Teachers of cooperative education programs - five (5) days for job development; 2.) Vocational education teachers (grades 9-12) - three (3) days for vocational education activities which may include youth organizations and advisory committees; 3.) Pay Differentials. Employees to whom an annual rate is applicable, except cumulative-hour employees, who are regularly scheduled to start their normal shift at or after 2:00 P.M. but before 9:00 P.M., shall receive, in addition to other compensation, a pay differential of 4% of the applicable rate for each hour worked during any such normal shift. Employees to whom an annual rate is applicable, except cumulative-hour employees, who are regularly scheduled to start their normal shift at or after 9:00 P.M. but before 4:00 A.M. shall receive, in addition to other compensation, a pay differential of 7% of the applicable rate for each hour worked during any such normal shift. Employees to whom an annual rate is applicable, except cumulative-hour employees, who are regularly scheduled to start their normal shift at or after 2:00 P.M. but before 4:00 A.M. shall not be entitled to receive a pay differential during any absences from work. Employees to whom an annual rate is applicable, except cumulative-hour employees, who work all or part of the normal shift of another employee, shall receive the pay differential (either 4% or 7%) which would have been applicable to the other employee's shift. Incumbents in the class series of Engineer, Engineering Geologist and Water Resources Specialist (excluding Senior Engineer) who obtain and possess Professional Engineer (PE) license or a Professional Geologist (PG) license issued by the State of California will receive a 2.5% pay differential.

D. Incumbents of classes who are assigned to work in the Vegetation Management Unit and who possess, maintain, and use in the regular course of their duties, a Qualified Applicators Certificate (QAC—pesticide spray card), shall be compensated five percent (5%) higher than that to which they are otherwise entitled. E. A swing shift differential of seven and one–half percent (7.5%) over the base hourly rate shall be paid to all District employees who work other than the 12-hour shift schedule and at least five–eighths (⅝) of the shift between 3:30 p.m. and 12 a.m. This premium pay shall not be allowed for time spent on vacation, sick leave, or leave with pay. F. A grave yard shift differential of ten percent (10%) over the base hourly rate shall be paid to all District employees who work other than the 12–hour shift schedule and of which at least five–eighths (⅝) of a shift falls between 12 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. This premium pay shall not be allowed for time spent on vacation, sick leave, or leave with pay. G. Any educator receiving a contract that exceeds the required one hundred ninety (190) days of service shall receive a pay differential prorated at one one-hundred ninetieth (1/190) of the educator's contracted salary for each extra day of service needed. Any educator required to work on an extended calendar shall receive daily pay on time sheets. The following educators shall work an extended calendar: a. Additional days can be scheduled at the beginning or the end of the school year in collaboration with the site principals. b. Secondary school counselors and librarians: five (5) days. c. Elementary school counselors and librarians: three (3) days; elementary school librarians who are assigned to more than one school: six (6) days. d. Head Special Education Teachers: five (5) days, if needed. e. Educational Diagnosticians, School Psychologists, Rehabilitation Counselors, and BCBAs: ten (10) days. f. Band and assistant band directors who conduct two (2) full weeks of Band Camp: ten (10) days. g. JROTC Instructors shall have an extended contract and salary as provided in federal regulations.
