Sick Leave and Emergency Leave. 1. Sick leave is for the purpose of the employee's illness or injury. For an absence of more than five (5) days duration, a doctor's certificate may be required. 2. Emergencies are defined as situations that are suddenly precipitated or of such a nature that preplanning could not relieve the necessity of the employee absence. Further, such situations must be of major importance and not a mere convenience. It is not the intent of this emergency leave provision to expand upon or add to vacations, week-ends, or other types of leaves because of transportation problems that preplanning could reasonably have prevented. Application for consideration for emergency leave must be made to the Superintendent within five (5) working days after the absence. Applications must be in writing and must explain the reasons for the request. Emergency leaves are subject to the approval of the Superintendent. 3. Employees who have been on an extended sick leave/emergency leave of fifteen (15) working days or longer shall have the sole responsibility to inform the employer in writing of the employee's intent to return to work. The returning employee shall give the District a minimum of five (5) working days’ notice, and shall submit the written notice to the personnel office. 4. The District will provide twelve (12) paid days per year leave per employee to be used for sick leave and emergency leave, as well as to care for the employee's sick children and other family members in accordance with state law (Washington State Family Care Act, RCW 49.12.265, et seq.). Unused days shall accumulate to the extent allowed by law. Less than full-time employees shall be allowed leave on a prorated basis. 5. Unused sick leave/emergency leave for each employee for each year is added to the employee's accumulated sick leave. Sick leave accumulation shall be limited to 180 days. Employees shall be allowed to use sick leave/emergency leave for the purpose of attending doctor and/or dentist appointments. 6. On January 1 of each school year, employees who have accumulated unused sick leave/emergency leave days in excess of sixty (60) days may request in writing to the Superintendent a cash payment of sick leave/emergency leave days, not to exceed twelve

Sick Leave and Emergency Leave. 2.1 At the beginning of each school year, full-time and part-time employees of the District shall be credited with twelve (12) days of leave to be used for reason of illness or injury when an employee is unable to perform his or her assigned duties. Such leave not taken shall accumulate from year to year to a maximum of 180 days. Compensation for such leave shall be the same as the employee would have received had the employee not taken the leave. 2.2 Part-time employees shall receive an amount of sick leave prorated based on the number of hours worked each day. 2.3 An employee, upon finding it necessary to be absent from his or her assigned duties by reason of illness or injury, shall give timely notice to his or her immediate supervisor and shall give the reasons for the absence. For planned surgeries or anticipated disability which will necessitate leave, the affected employee shall notify his or her immediate supervisor a reasonable time before the anticipated leave day. 2.4 Upon returning to work, the employee shall complete an absence report form, stating the general reason for the absence. In the event of an absence for a period of five (5) or more working days in any single occurrence, the employee may be required to submit a doctor's written excuse to accompany the absence report. 2.5 The District will provide each employee with an accounting of his/her accumulated sick leave and establish an attendance incentive program for all employees in the following manner: a. In January of the year following any year in which a minimum of sixty (60) days of leave for illness or injury is accrued, and each January thereafter, any eligible employee may exercise an option to receive remuneration for unused leave for illness or injury accumulated in the previous year at a rate equal to one day's monetary compensation of the employee for each four (4) full days of accrued leave for illness or injury in excess of sixty days. All such leave for illness or injury for which compensation has been received shall be deducted from accrued leave for illness or injury at a rate of four days for every one day's monetary compensation. No employee may receive compensation under this section for illness or injury accumulated at a rate in excess of one day per month.
Sick Leave and Emergency Leave. ‌ 22.01 Paid personal emergency leave will be used for the following: a) Personal illness, injury, or emergency; or b) The illness, injury, medical emergency relating to a family dependent or family member; or c) Family responsibilities 22.02 Full-time employees will be allocated ninety-six (96) hours of paid personal emergency leave per entitlement year. Part-time employees will be allocated sixteen (16) hours of paid personal emergency leave per entitlement year. 22.03 The entitlement year will be April 1st to March 31st of the following year.

For the 2013-15 school years all full and part-time instructors shall be granted sick leave-emergency leave at the rate of one (1) day per month of service to the District, equaling nine (9) days for instructors working school year only, and twelve (12) days for those instructors choosing to also work in the summer months.   • Emergency Leave Notwithstanding any provisions for leave in this Agreement, the Employer may grant leave of absence with or without pay to an employee in emergency or unusual circumstances.

  • Personal Emergency Leave 1. An educator will be granted up to five (5) days of leave per year to cover situations beyond the control of the educator which would significantly impair teaching service. Personal emergency leave may not be used for illness or injury, or illness or injury in the immediate family. Deductions from the gross pay of an educator for this leave shall be made at the degreed substitute rate of pay for each day taken. 2.   • Medical Care and Emergency Leave An employee is entitled to a leave of absence without pay because of any of the following: 1. A personal illness, injury or medical emergency. 2. The death, illness, injury or medical emergency of an individual described in this Article. 3. An urgent matter that concerns an individual described in this Article. An employee who wishes to take leave under this section shall advise his or her Hospital that he or she will be doing so. If the employee must begin the leave before advising the Hospital, the employee shall advise the Hospital of the leave as soon as possible after beginning it. An employee is entitled to take a total of 10 days’ leave under this section each year. If an employee takes any part of a day as leave under this section, the Hospital may deem the employee to have taken one day’s leave on that day for the purposes of this Article. The Hospital may require an employee who takes leave under this section to provide evidence reasonable in the circumstances that the employee is entitled to the leave. Upon the conclusion of an employee’s leave under this Article, the Hospital shall reinstate the employee to the position the employee most recently held with the Hospital, if it still exists, or to a comparable position, if it does not.

  • Vacations; Leave The Employee shall be entitled to annual paid vacation in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors for executive employees and to voluntary leave of absence, with or without pay, from time to time at such times and upon such conditions as the Board of Directors may determine in its discretion.
