Union Membership and Dues Check. OFF
5.01 All employees of Abby Road Housing Co-operative Ltd. are covered by this Collective Agreement. Membership in the Union is voluntary.
5.02 The Employer shall deduct from the wages of all employees covered by this Collective Agreement an amount equal to the monthly Union dues in a manner, which is in keeping with the payroll system in effect at the Co-op. Such deductions shall be forwarded to the Secretary-Treasurer of CUPE Local 1158 as one cheque, not later than the fifteenth (15th) day of the following month in which the dues were deducted. Such deductions shall be accompanied by a list, which shall indicate each employee's name and the amount deducted from each employee.
5.03 The Employer will record the annual dues deducted on T-4 slips issued for income tax
5.04 Once a year the Employer will provide the Union with the employee's addresses and phone numbers.
5.05 The Employer agrees to advise potential employees that a Union Agreement is in effect. The Union shall be allowed fifteen (15} minutes at new employee orientation to communicate, orientate and provide the new employee with a copy of the collective agreement.
Union Membership and Dues Check. OFF In accordance with the provisions of the Labour Relations Act, 2007, the employer shall deduct Union dues from the salaries of all Union members. The subscriptions deducted shall be paid directly into the bank account(s) nominated by the Union. No employee(s) shall revoke the check off unless he/she has resigned in writing from the Union and upon issuing the Chapter Secretary or National Secretary General with appropriate notice as stipulated in the Union’s constitution. It is agreed that the employer shall encourage new employees in grades that are Unionisable under UASU to join the Union by dispatching Union membership forms with appointment letters. It is also agreed that only bona fide Union members and those recognized under the Recognition Agreement and those who pay agency fees shall be beneficiaries of the Union’s covenants with the employer.

8.01 All Employees covered by this Agreement shall become members of the Union as a condition of employment. An Employee who has a religious objection to becoming a member of the Union shall be permitted to opt out of membership by providing the Union with a signed statutory declaration outlining the objection within sixty (60) consecutive calendar days from the date of commencement of employment, but such Employee shall continue to pay Union dues.
8.02 All Employees covered by this Agreement shall be required to pay Union dues as a condition of employment. The Employer shall, therefore, deduct Union dues from the pay of all Employees covered by this Agreement. The Union shall advise the Employer, in writing, of any change in the amount of dues to be deducted from the Employees covered by this Agreement. Such notice shall be communicated to the Employer at least thirty (30) calendar days prior to the effective date of the change.
(a) The Employer shall remit Union dues deducted from the pay of all Employees to the Union within nine (9) working days from the end of the pay period. Where an accounting adjustment is necessary to correct an over or under payment of dues, it shall be effected in the next succeeding submission of dues payment. The deductions remitted shall be accompanied by particulars identifying each Employee in a printed form and electronic format showing employee number, department number, starting date, subsidiary agreement, classification, work location code, amount of Union dues deducted, name, last known address and home telephone number. Further, the Employer shall provide to the Union, on a monthly basis, a list containing the name and last known address of current recipients of Long Term Disability Insurance.
(b) In addition to the particulars provided in Sub-Clause 8.03(a) the Employer agrees to provide the following information upon implementation of IMAGIS: birthdate, anniversary month, employee type (permanent, temporary, wage), sub type (full or part time), grade, step, earnings, gender and status code for active Employees who have no dues deducted.
