2. The District will determine its staffing needs for each summer extension period and assign staff accordingly. Extension of service will be for a period of at least 3 to 8 weeks (July and/or August), including, but not limited to, the period of summer school (i.e. 6 weeks during July and August). The District will solicit employee preferences for either July, August, and/or Summer School and will accommodate employee preferences to the extent possible, but seniority (as defined below) will be the deciding factor in the event of a conflict.
3. The District will determine how many School Sentries are needed on each shift, their duty stations, and specific duties within the “Typical Work Activities”. Once a person works a break period, he/she will be rotated to the bottom of the volunteer list. Time worked during school breaks will be paid at the employee’s current hourly rate with the exception of holidays that occur during break week (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Presidents Day) which will be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1 ½) times the employee’s current hourly rate.
