Long-Term Leaves of Absence. The director may grant a leave of absence without pay, not covered by any other provision of this Agreement, for nonmedical reasons for a period longer than 30 days. Requests for leaves of absence without pay that are for medical/health reasons for a period longer than 30 days must be approved by the Director of the Department of Human Resources. Long-Term Leaves of Absence. An employee who has worked for the school system for three consecutive years may be granted a leave of absence. Leaves of absence may be granted for one year for the following reasons: (A) Maternity, (B) Personal Illness,
Long-Term Leaves of Absence. The Division Director may grant a leave of absence without pay, not covered by any other provision of this Agreement, for nonmedical reasons for a period longer than 30 days. Requests for leaves of absence without pay that are for medical/health reasons for a period longer than 30 days must be approved by the Director of Human Resources or the Director’s designee. Long-term leaves may be unconditional, or conditional with any conditions set forth in writing at the time that the leave is approved with the understanding that barring required budget cuts or layoffs, the employer shall reinstate the employee to the same position or a position with equivalent status, pay, benefits and other employment terms upon the employee’s return with no loss of seniority. The layoff, seniority, and bumping rights in each individual Appendix shall be applied to leaves of absence.
Long-Term Leaves of Absence. Regular employees may submit a request for an unpaid leave not to exceed one year in duration. Application for such unpaid leave must be placed in writing and shall clearly state the reason(s) for which the leave is being requested and shall be presented to the District prior to the time the leave is being requested to begin. Leaves granted under this provision will be without loss of seniority or salary step earned to the date of the leave. Employees returning from unpaid leaves will be entitled to recall rights under Article 6.6.
Long-Term Leaves of Absence. For leaves of absence greater than thirty (30) days, the employee will notify her Manager or designate with a minimum two (2) week’s prior notice of her anticipated date of return.
Long-Term Leaves of Absence. The number of teachers on long-term leaves of absence at any given time shall not be in excess of 2% of the teaching staff employed by the district. A person granted a long-term leave of absence shall not be entitled to receive any salary or fringe benefits during the entire term of the leave of absence. Teachers applying for the first time for leave, pursuant to Long-Term Leaves #1 and #3 shall be given priority over those teachers requesting either an extension of a granted leave or an additional leave after having previously been granted a long-term leave.
Long-Term Leaves of Absence. The County Superintendent may grant a long- term leave of absence without pay for a period not to exceed one (1) year. At the conclusion of the initial period for which granted, such leave may be extended by the County Superintendent for an additional period not to exceed one (1) year.
a. Such leaves shall be granted only for purposes which are in the best interests of the Office of the Solano County Superintendent of Schools.
b. Upon return from leave of absence after the time originally specified for the leave, the employee shall be reinstated to a position equivalent in duties and salary to that which he/she held at the time that his/her request for leave was granted, provided that such a position is available; otherwise, he/she shall be placed on a reemployment list for a period of thirty-nine (39) months and shall be reemployed in the first vacancy in his/her classification with preference over all other applicants except for those laid off for lack of work or lack of funds.
c. A permanent classified employee who, because of non-industrial accident or illness, has exhausted all entitlements to paid and unpaid leaves of absence, shall be placed on a reemployment list for a period of thirty-nine (39) months. If at any time during the thirty-nine (39) months the employee is able to assume the duties of his/her position, he/she shall be reemployed in the first vacancy in his/her classification with preference over all other applicants except for those laid off for lack of work or lack of funds.
Long-Term Leaves of Absence. The District shall make Family and Medical leaves available to eligible employees in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Administrative Regulation GBBD-R(1). The Association acknowledges that Administrative Regulation GBBD-R(1), as it is currently in effect, complies with the regulatory requirements of FMLA and provides the FMLA leave affirmed by this article. The District shall establish and administer in good faith a long-term leaves of absence program whereby eligible employees may apply for and receive long-term leaves of absence for the following purposes:
1. Long-term Medical Leave, which is leave needed to recover from a serious health condition that prevents the employee from performing the essential functions of his/her job. Eligibility requires District employment of at least three (3) consecutive years immediately prior to the time the leave is to commence. Employees may appeal this requirement for consideration of special circumstances.
2. Political Leave, which is leave desired to campaign for election to and hold a public office. Eligibility requires District employment of at least three (3) consecutive years immediately prior to the time the leave is to commence.
3. Continuing Education Leave, which is leave for an education-related sabbatical or leave for other continuing education purposes. Application for continuing education leave requires submittal of a course of study. Eligibility for unpaid Continuing Education Leave requires District employment of at least three (3) consecutive years immediately prior to the time the leave is to commence. Eligibility for paid Sabbatical Leave requires District employment of at least seven (7) consecutive years immediately prior to the time the leave is to commence.
4. Hardship Leave, which is leave needed to cope with a sudden and serious personal crisis. Eligibility requires District employment of at least three (3) consecutive years immediately prior to the time the leave is to commence.
5. Long-term Personal Leave, which is leave desired to attend to a personal matter affecting the employee. Eligibility requires District employment of at least six (6) consecutive, full- time years immediately prior to the time the leave is to commence.
6. Military Leave based upon competent military orders to active duty. If, while on a leave of absence, an employee finds it necessary to return to full-time employment or if the terms of the filed plan, submitted course of study, or travel i...
