ON CALL AND CALL BACK. (1) On Call
(a) For the purposes of this Agreement a practitioner is on call when the practitioner is rostered by the Employer to remain readily contactable and available to return to work outside of the practitioner’s normal hours of duty.
(b) (i) Practitioners shall be rostered on call in accordance with clinical need by the Director of Medical Services or appointed Senior Medical Practitioner in consultation with the Head of the Department or if there is no Head of Department, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee.
ON CALL AND CALL BACK. (a) Employees in classifications 5, 9 and 10 may be requested by their Supervisor to be On- Call for a period of time and may elect to accept or refuse such status.
(b) Employees accepting On-Call status must be available to attend work, without limitation, during their non-scheduled hours. Employees must be able to arrive at the campus within 1 hour of being called and requested to work and must report to work in a fit state.
(c) The Employee shall receive 1½ hours at the straight time wage rate for each 8 hours of On-Call status. Employees will accumulate such time until accruals total a multiple of 8 hours. Employees will have the option of being compensated in pay or taking the equivalent time off with pay. Payments for On-Call status are not considered as hours worked for the purpose of overtime calculations. When an Employee On-Call is required to report to work, the Employee will be paid in accordance with the provisions of Article 15.
(d) The call-in list shall be used in its normal sequence. If, in this sequence, the call is to the Employee On-Call then the Employee will be required to attend to work.
(e) When Employees, who have completed their scheduled shift and have left the University premises are required by their Supervisor or designate to return to work, they shall be entitled to Call-Back pay. An Employee entitled to Call-Back pay will be paid at the rate of 1½ hours for each hour worked.
(f) An Employee called back to work between regular shifts shall be paid for a minimum of 4 hours at overtime rate.
ON CALL AND CALL BACK. 12.1 On-Call Assignment.
A. “On-call” assignment shall be defined as any time when an employee is instructed in writing by management to remain available to work during an off-duty period. An employee who is so instructed shall be required to carry and keep on his/her person the university- provided cell phone or other electronic device in order to be contacted to return to the work location on short notice to perform assigned duties.
B. In an emergency or other unforeseen circumstances, the university may verbally instruct an employee to be on-call for a period of not more than twenty-four (24) consecutive hours. The employee shall not be eligible for on-call payments in excess of the period for which verbal instructions are appropriate.
ON CALL AND CALL BACK. For any week of on-call duty, if two previous weeks of on-call duty wore completed by the same employee during the previous four (4) weeks, an additional payment of $100.00 shall be payable to that employee for that week. This additional payment is in addition to the employee's normal on-call allowance.
ON CALL AND CALL BACK. 14.01 On-call duty shall be any period during which an Employee is not regularly scheduled in accordance with Article 12 but is assigned to be available to respond, without undue delay, to any request to report to duty.
14.02 Employees placed on-call as per Article 14.01, shall be compensated as follows:
(a) Monday - Friday: twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per day;
(b) Saturday - Sunday: thirty-five dollars ($35.00) per day; or
(c) Paid holidays in accordance: forty-five dollars ($45.00) per day.
14.03 When an Employee who is assigned on-call duty fails to report to work without undue delay when required to do so, compensation for the on-call period in accordance with Article 14.02 shall not be paid for the day in which the failure occurs.
14.04 Employees shall not be assigned on-call duty on two (2) consecutive weekends or two (2) consecutive paid holidays where other qualified Employees are available to be assigned on-call duty.
14.05 When an Employee is called back to duty and is required to return to work, in addition to the compensation described in Article 14.02, the Employee shall receive one and one half times (1 1/2X) their basic rate of pay in accordance with the Salary Appendix for all hours worked and reasonable time spent traveling.
14.06 Where an Employee is on call and is able to perform work without physically attending to the worksite (e.g. via telephone), the Employee will track their time doing so. In the event the cumulative time in a day exceeds half and hour, the Employee shall be paid for the actual time worked at the appropriate overtime rates plus the appropriate shift differential. Any time over half an hour shall be paid in fifteen (15) minute increments.
14.07 When an Employee is required to return to work outside the regular hours of work in accordance with Article 12, and is not assigned on-call duty, the Employee shall be paid two (2) hours at their basic rate of pay or one and one half times (1 1/2X) their basic rate of pay for all hours worked, inclusive of travel time, whichever is greater.
14.08 An Employee shall be paid a minimum of three (3) hours pay at the applicable basic rate of pay when an expected work period is canceled and the Employee is not notified at least one (1) hour prior to the expected start time of such shift.
14.09 Where operationally feasible to do so, an Employee who is assigned on-call duty shall be supplied with a vehicle for a faster and more efficient response.

ON CALL AND CALL BACK. 15.1 On-Call Assignment.
A. On-call" assignment shall be defined as any time when an employee is instructed in writing by management to remain available to work during an off-duty period. An employee who is so instructed shall be required to leave word where the employee may be reached by telephone or by other electronic signal device in order to be available to return to a work location on short notice to perform assigned duties.
B. In an emergency or other unforeseen circumstances, the University may verbally instruct an employee to be on-call for a period of not more than twenty-four (24) consecutive hours. The employee shall not be eligible for on-call payments in excess of the period for which verbal instructions are appropriate.
15.2 On-Call Payment.
A. On-call time is not compensable for purposes of computing overtime; however, travel time to and from work when called back is compensable time.
B. When approved as provided herein, an employee who is required to be on-call shall be compensated by payment of a fee in an amount of one dollar ($1.00) per hour for each hour such employee is required to be on-call.
C. An employee who is required to be on-call on a Saturday, Sunday, or State holiday will be compensated by payment of a fee in an amount equal to one-fourth (1/4) of the employee’s hourly base rate of pay for each hour such employee is required to be available.
D. If an on-call period is less than one (1) hour, the employee shall be paid for one (1)
E. If an employee's immediate supervisor who is covered by this Agreement inappropriately instructs an employee that the employee is on-call, that supervisor may be held personally liable for reimbursing the University for any on-call fee which results from the inappropriate instruction.
ON CALL AND CALL BACK. 16.01 On-Call Duty
(a) The words "on-call duty" shall be deemed to mean any period during which an Employee is not on regular duty and during which the Employee is on-call and must be reasonably available to respond without undue delay to any request to report for duty.
(b) The Employer shall prescribe any regulations or procedures for administering the on-call duty and roster. The on-call duty roster shall be posted in advance of the on-call period.
(c) Where the Employer requires an Employee to carry an electronic device while on-call, such electronic device shall be supplied by the Employer.
(d) The Employer shall pay an Employee who is assigned on-call duty:
(i) three dollars and thirty cents ($3.30) per hour on a regular workday, and
(ii) four dollars and fifty cents ($4.50) per hour on Saturday, Sunday or on a Named Holiday.
(e) On-call duty pay ceases for the hours an Employee receives call-back pay.
16.02 On-Site Call-Back
(a) Where an Employee is called back to duty to the workplace on-site during the Employee’s call-back period, the Employee shall be paid two times (2X) the Basic Rate of Pay for all hours worked during the call-back from the time of the Employee’s arrival or for three (3) hours, whichever is longer.
(b) An Employee called back to duty to the workplace will be permitted to leave upon completion of the reason for which they were called back. However, any further requests received by an Employee prior to leaving following completion of the work required on the initial call shall be considered one (1) call for the purpose of determining call-back pay.
ON CALL AND CALL BACK. (1) A clinical academic shall have the same On-Call and Call-Back obligations and the same On-Call and Call-Back penalties’ entitlement as are prescribed for full-time Consultants in the Medical Practitioners Industrial Agreement.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of this clause, if the Employer and the Association agree, other arrangements may be made for compensation of On-Call and Call-Back.

(b) Where a practitioner, who is not directed to be on call, is provided with a mobile phone for other business purposes and is contacted on a casual basis outside of the practitioners normal hours of duty, the on call allowance prescribed by this clause is not payable. In such cases the practitioner is under no obligation to return to work.
(c) (i) Practitioners shall be rostered on call in accordance with clinical need by the Director of Medical Services or appointed Senior Medical Practitioner in consultation with the Head of the Department or if there is no Head of Department, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee.
