Union Representative Leave. (a) The employer recognises the right of all employees to join a union, to access union representation and to participate collectively in workplace issues.
(b) The employer will recognise union representative(s) upon written notification from each of the union/s.
(c) Union representative(s) will be released from work to attend union business in accordance with the following: up to a maximum of three (3) days per calendar year (1 January to 31 December) per facility for the totality of all applications of trade union, union representative training leave, attendance at union conferences, meetings and courses provided that:
(i) the courses are directed to the enhancement of a more productive, aware and harmonious workplace environment;
(ii) at least four (4) weeks’ notice is provided to the employer;
(iii) the approval of leave must have regard to the operational requirements of the employer;
(iv) the union representative provides evidence of attendance to the employer when requested; and
(v) subject to operational requirements an employer shall not unreasonably refuse such a request.
(d) A union representative may access accrued paid leave or unpaid leave for the purpose of attending union training, meetings, conference and courses as detailed in this clause.
Union Representative Leave. The Employer may grant reasonable leaves of absence without pay to one or two employees whenever required in the performance of duties as "duly authorized representatives of the Union." "
Union Representative Leave. (a) When it is necessary for a Union member to make a request for a leave of absence to perform the duties of any office of the Union, the application for leave must be made in writing to the applicable Manager for approval. The application for leave will be made in writing with as much advance notice as possible, but not less than two (2) weeks, except that in extenuating circumstances the time factor may be waived or reduced.
(b) Subject to operational requirements, the Employer shall not unreasonably withhold leave of absence for Employees elected or appointed to represent the Union at Conventions, Workshops, Institutes, Seminars, Schools or to attend meetings as a member of the Union's Provincial Executive Board.
(c) When leave to attend Union business has been approved, it is granted with pay. The Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for actual salary (including differentials and premiums where applicable) paid to the Employee while on leave plus an amount determined by the Employer to cover the cost of benefits plus a reasonable administrative fee.
(d) One (1) Employee or more employees, who is elected for a Full-time position with the Union shall be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority and position. If it is permissible under the group health and life plans and any other plans, the Employee shall have the right to pay the full cost, including the Employer's share, during the period of such leave of absence.
(e) Employees who are selected for any staff position with the Union, or any body with which the Union is affiliated, shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for a period of eighteen (18) months. Extension of such leave may be granted, if submitted in writing and approved by the Employer. Approval of an extension will be dependent on operational requirements and will not be unreasonably withheld. The Employee will be permitted to work for gain for such leave.

Union Representative Leave. (i) The Employer recognises and acknowledges that accredited workplace union delegates have an important role to play in the workplace and may be appointed as endorsed delegates of the union.
(ii) Accredited delegates will be treated fairly and will be able to perform their role without any fear of discrimination or victimisation in their employment.
(iii) Accredited delegates will have reasonable access to telephone, facsimile and photocopying facilities for the purpose of carrying out work as a delegates subject to the prior approval of their manager.
(iv) The Employer acknowledges the need for training to be delivered to accredited delegates to ensure an adequate and practical understanding of:
(a) this Agreement and other associated legislation;
(b) dispute resolution procedures;
(c) Union delegate role in the workplace.
(v) The Employer will support Union Delegates to attend training courses, conferences or seminars as follows:
(a) Up to five days per calendar year (1 January to 31 December) per Hospital for the totality of all applications will be granted provided that:
(1) The scope, content and level of the training course or seminar is designed to enhance understanding in the areas outlined in subclause (iv) above;
(2) two weeks’ notice is provided to the Employer;
(3) the timing of the leave must have regard to the operational requirements of the Employer;
(4) this leave shall be paid at the ordinary time rate of pay.
(b) Leave of absence granted pursuant to this clause shall count as service for all purposes of this Agreement.
Union Representative Leave. The Employer shall allow time off work without pay for any employee who is serving as a union representative in bargaining or serving as a union delegate to any conference or function, provided all requests for time off are reasonable, are made at least seven days prior to the required time off, and do not interfere with the proper operation of the Employer’s business. The Employer and the Union agree that there shall be no discrimination, interference, restriction, or coercion exercised or practised with respect to any employee for reason of membership or activity in the Union.
Union Representative Leave. 48.1. Leave without pay to attend trade union and union delegate courses/seminars shall be as follows:
48.1.1 To a maximum of 3 days per year without pay (1 January to 31 December) for each medical centre for the totality of all applications of paid trade union, union delegate training leave, attendance at union conferences, meetings and courses provided that:
(a) the scope, content and level of the courses are directed to the enhancement of the operation of the settlement of dispute/dispute settlement procedure/s;
(b) that two weeks period of notice is provided to the Employer;
(c) the approval of leave must have regard to the operational requirements of the Employer;
48.1.2 Leave of absence granted pursuant to this clause shall count as service for all purposes of this Agreement. Union Representative Leave. 47.1 A union representative who has been nominated by other Employees as the site union representative for unions represented in the Agreement will be able to access leave to attend trade union delegate courses, seminars, and conferences for a maximum of up to five (5) days leave per calendar year.
47.2 A union representative may access Annual Leave, Long Service Leave or Leave Without Pay for union representative activities leave.
47.3 A union representative must apply to their Employer for approval of union activities leave with four (4) weeks’ notice.
47.4 The Employer will not unreasonably withhold their approval for this leave.

24.02 The Employer shall not unreasonably withhold leave of absence for Employee’s elected or appointed to represent the Union at Negotiations, Conventions, Workshops, Institutes, Seminars, Schools, or to attend meetings as a member of the Union’s Provincial Executive Board or to attend to other business of the Union that may arise from time to time.
24.03 When leave to attend to Union Business has been approved, it shall be granted with pay. The Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for the actual salary, shift differential and premiums the Employee would have received had they been at work or the actual cost of the shift replacement, whichever is greater.
