Holidavs. 13.01 The following holidays will be granted to all employees covered by this Agreement who have completed thirty (30) days of employment: New Year's Day Good Friday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Boxing Day 2 Floating Holidays (Taken during each calendar year) Note: Floating Holiday is available to employees having passed the probationary period under Article 9 - Probation. The Civic Holiday specified above is taken in the Province of Ontario in lieu of Remembrance Day. In the Province of Quebec, St-Xxxx Xxxxxxxx Day (National Day) will be taken on June 24 in each year in lieu of Remembrance Day. 13.01.01 The Floating Holidays referred to in Article 13.01 will be taken without loss of regular pay during the calendar year on a date chosen by the employee 38 Unifor YUL-YYZ Agreement 2015.doc with the approval of the Company, with two (2) weeks' notice to the Company. Such approval shall be subject to operational requirements and will not be unreasonably withheld but approval will be deemed to have been granted if notice to the contrary is not provided to the employee by the Company in writing at least seven (7) calendar days in advance of the requested date. The Company may elect to not cover the shift of the employee taking the floating holiday and approve the day immediately. Alternatively, the Company will post the employee's shift for up to seven (7) calendar days for coverage on an overtime/recall basis. If the Company is unable to obtain coverage with overtime/recall, and within seven (7) calendar days in advance of the requested day, the employee will be entitled to arrange their own coverage for the day if they so desire. The provisions of Articles 13.02 and 13.03 will not apply to the Floating Holidays. Each unused Floating Holiday remaining at the end of the calendar year will be paid out to the employee at the rate of twelve (12) hours pay provided the employee has chosen, but been denied approval, two (2) dates on which the Floating Holiday would be taken; otherwise each unused Floating Holiday remaining will be paid out at the rate of eight (8) hours pay. 13.02 If operational requirements allow a reduction of staff levels on a holiday, the Company will first offer the day off to employees on each shift, classification and terminal in order of seniority. The Station shall recognize a minimum of nine (9) paid holidays per year: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve Day. If it is necessary for an employee to work during a holiday, he shall receive regular pay plus one and one-half (1.5) times his hourly rate of pay for that day. If Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day actually fall on a weekend and KLRU grants additional days off during the week for such holidays, the employee will receive holiday pay only if they work the actual holiday on the weekend. Section 3. In addition to the nme (9) holidays named in Section 1, employees will receive four (4) paid personal holidays per year to be taken at the employee's discretion and with the supervisor's approval. Employees hired after the beginning of the fiscal year will be awarded one floating holiday for every full quarter remaining in the year after completion of their probationary period. If an employee is required to work on Easter Sunday, he shall be paid one and one-half ( 1.5) times the employee's hourly rate of pay. Section 4. If an employee is on leave of absence (other than medical or funeral leave) when a holiday falls, he will not receive holiday pay for that holiday.
Holidavs. All police department employees shall have eleven (11) paid holidays per year, plus one (1) business day per year. If a holiday is worked, employees may choose between receiving double time or compensatory time off in an amount equivalent to the number of hours worked on the holiday. To the extent the hours worked on a holiday also constitute overtime, such compensatory time off shall be in an amount equivalent to one and one-half times the number of hours worked on the holiday, and the time off is to be approved by the command officer in charge and taken within the same pay period as the overtime hours were worked. No employee shall be allowed to accumulate more than thirty (30) days of compensatory time. Employees with more than thirty (30) days compensatory time accumulated at the time of ratification of this contract shall have up to one (1) year from such date to use and thereby reduce their accumulated compensatory time to the maximum level.‌ Failure to do so will result in involuntary payment of such excess compensatory time.

All leave for holidays shall be deemed to be included in the annual leave provisions of Paragraph 31. Provided, however, effective September 15, 1988, any employee who is scheduled and does work on New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving or Christmas shall receive, in addition to his regular pay, a sum equal to 50% of his regular hourly rate for each hour actually worked on such holiday.
