SRO Duties a. The SRO shall meet periodically with the principal at the PPMS campus to discuss material interactions and information involving the SRO's work subject to statutory provisions affecting the disclosure of information pertaining to a juvenile, including, but not limited to arrests and searches of individuals and their property at the PPMS campus.
b. The SRO shall work with Elmbrook staff to develop plans and strategies for the PPMS campus to prevent or minimize dangerous situations which might result in student unrest or unlawful activity.
c. The SRO's primary responsibility is not to provide school security, but to address law violations, including criminal law issues, and engage in educational and outreach activities with community members to assist them in understanding student issues. Accordingly, the SRO shall be responsible for investigating violations of state statutes and municipal ordinances and will focus on the prevention of crime and ordinance violations in and around the grounds of the PPMS campus. The SRO shall not serve as a school disciplinarian, as an enforcer of school regulations, social worker, guidance counselor, or in place of school- based mental health providers. The SRO shall not be utilized for support staffing, such as hall monitor, substitute teacher, or cafeteria duty or vehicular traffic control.
d. The SRO shall interact daily with staff and students to assist staff and students to understand the role of the SRO and for the SRO to understand how s/he is perceived on campus.
e. The SROs shall assist staff with Elmbrook school-based emergency management planning and school safety drills for which they are qualified and approved by the PD SRO supervisor in accordance with the provisions of State of Wisconsin school safety legislation.
f. The SRO shall act solely in the capacity of a sworn, on-duty police officer.
g. The SRO shall provide a law enforcement presence at the PPMS campus.
h. The SRO shall proactively monitor his/her assigned school for the purpose of enforcing state laws and Village ordinances under his/her jurisdiction.
i. The SRO shall as part of his/her duties serve as guest speaker for students and staff in law-related education ("LRE") and be a resource for students, staff, and parents in matters specific to his/her duties as a law enforcement officer.
j. At the request of Xxxxxxxx and with the PD Chief's prior approval on a case by case basis, the SRO shall assist with community outreach, including to service ...
SRO Duties. The SRO shall be a commissioned police officer who shall serve as safety expert, law enforcer, problem solver, liaison to community resources, and educator/instructor for staff
SRO Duties. The ACSO shall have sole discretion to determine how the SRO performing the duties under this Agreement will be deployed and the manner in which the services contemplated by this Agreement shall be provided. It is agreed that SROs shall maintain high visibility with students during breaks and lunch periods. SROs may be active members of the Schools’ Student Management / Referral Teams.
SRO Duties. SROs shall employ school-based policing concepts in accordance with MPD policy to promote school safety, as well as a drug and crime-free environment. SROs shall provide services including:
a. Providing security guidance and police services for students, faculty, and visitors
b. Teaching crime, alcohol, and drug awareness programs
c. Providing safety training on certain topics
d. Assisting with school traffic
e. Attending faculty and parent meetings on an as needed basis
SRO Duties. 9.1. The extra officer will, under general supervision, perform the following duties: Patrol district property for suspicious activity or unauthorized persons; Provide in-service training to help administrators be better prepared to deal with security-related matters; Serve as a team member to support students; Serve as a visible and active law enforcement officer on campus dealing with law-related areas such as drugs, traffic, trespassing, fighting, and thefts. If requested by school administrators, assist in the enforcement of campus rules and regulations; Take law enforcement actions to protect the students, faculty, and visitors; Make arrests only when necessary; Work and collaborate with outside law enforcement agencies; Assist in coordinating security for crowd or vehicle control situations; Assist in outer agency investigations when it involves a student in district; Provide instructions and directions to others as it pertains to law enforcement matters and emergency situations; Conduct security building assessments for schools, guard and check/secure doors, rooms, buildings, and equipment; Conduct investigations involving crimes, gang activity, violence, threats, or drugs; Develop crime prevention efforts/strategies; Educate school-age victims in crime prevention; Develop and expand community justice initiatives for students; Help students with conflict resolution, restorative justice, and crime awareness; Assist in the identification of physical changes in the environment that may reduce crime in or around schools; Maintain all certifications and stay current on training; Assist with all types of threats as a team member of the threat assessment team; and, Perform other duties as directed by school administration to create a safe and positive environment for staff, students, parents, and visitors.
9.2. This Classification is distinguished from Police Sergeant who provides general supervision of the Police Officer in addition to the duties listed above.
SRO Duties. The individual appointed as the Middle School SRO shall be actively scheduled and assigned to Xxxxxx Middle School for no less than 4, but no more than 6 hours during a normal school week. Duties shall include proactively communicating with students and staff, as well as responding to incidents and requests for service as requested. The City and the School District mutually agree that if for some reason illness, crisis, or other schedule conflict arises, that the two parties shall meet to discuss proper payment for the program’s services rendered for hours not allocated the Middle School SRO assignment.
SRO Duties. SRO duties include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
a. Student and Staff Safety ● SROs will protect students, staff and others who are present on school property or at a school sponsored event or activity. ● SROs will respond to emergencies including, but not limited to, medical emergencies on school property or at a school sponsored event or activity.
b. SRO Responsibilities ● As sworn peace officers, the SROs assume primary responsibility for responding to requests for assistance from school or District administrators and for coordinating the response of other law enforcement resources as needed at the school building. ● SROs assume sole responsibility for carrying out their law enforcement duties as authorized by law, such as lawful searches on school property, including searches at the request of a school administrator or District administrator when the school administrator or District administrator has reasonable grounds for the search. ● Consistent with the general principles noted earlier that it is each student’s best interests to remain in class and in their learning environment. It is the intent of the City and the Rochester Police Department to avoid removal of a student present in a District school building, unless the student presents an imminent and substantial risk of harm to self or others. School administrators or District administrators confronted with a situation in perceived conflict with this intent should immediately notify the assigned building SRO or supervisor of the SROs prior to locating the student in the school and/or removal of the student from the school. ● SROs will respond to situations on school property involving clear and imminent threats to student and/or staff safety. As a general practice, unless there is a clear and imminent threat to student and/or staff safety, requests from school staff for SRO or other law enforcement assistance are to be channeled through a school administrator. ● SROs will serve as a law enforcement resource for students, staff, families and other members of the school community. ● SROs will facilitate the effective delivery of law enforcement services and assist with safety and security and the lawful two-way exchange of information between authorized District and SROs and other law enforcement personnel.
c. Coordinated Team Response ● SROs will collaborate with school administrators and other school personnel such as counselors, social workers and mental health practitioner...
SRO Duties i. SRO daily activities will support the SRO program objectives. SRO responsibilities, duties, and schedules will vary, as determined by BPD. In exercising its sole discretion to determine SRO staffing, duties, and/or presence at schools, BPD may consult with the District and school principals or their designees to determine the SRO program needs of individual schools.
ii. SRO services shall be governed by the rules, policies, shifts, schedules, procedures, and practices of the BPD, the City, the Collective Labor Agreement between the City and Local 486 of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers ("Local 486"), and the laws and constitutions of the state of Idaho and the United States. Each decision and determination affecting BPD participation in this program will be made by BPD staff. BPD may or may not consult with the District and/or individual school's regarding its decisions and determinations affecting this program.
SRO Duties a. The SRO shall wear JPD-approved uniforms and drive a marked patrol unit in performance of SRO Duties required by this IGA. To the extent that such JPD-approved uniforms allow for personalization, for example, words, phrases or colors of required face coverings or name badges, if applicable, then such personalized features of said uniforms shall be subject to approval by the School Administrator. In the event the SRO is authorized to wear civilian clothes for a specific event, the SRO shall comply with a dress code that is determined and approved by the School Administrator.
b. The SRO will exercise discretion as provided in this IGA when taking law enforcement action as needed and within the SRO’s legal authority and discretion. JPD will make all reasonable efforts to ensure notification to the School Administrator as soon as practicable of any violations or actions which impact school discipline, order, or safety. The SRO shall adhere to District policy, District regulations, and District guidelines. The JPD and the SRO shall comply with the provisions of C.R.S. § 00-00-000, including reporting and record-keeping.
c. The SRO shall, when practicable, assist faculty in conducting specialized classes on such topics as the role of policing in the community, search and seizure, traffic laws, crime prevention, victims’ rights, community involvement, and youth programs. In addition, the SRO shall, when practicable, encourage and participate in discussion during classes to establish rapport with students. Any additional areas of instruction or SRO participation in school activities must be mutually agreed upon by JPD and the school’s principal or their designee.
d. The SRO shall seek permission, advice, and guidance from the School Administrator prior to implementing any program.
e. The SRO shall assist the School Administrator, staff, and faculty in developing and monitoring emergency procedures and emergency management or safety plans to include prevention and/or minimization of dangerous situations which may result from students. District Threat Assessments, Safety Plans, Suicide Risk Assessments, and Crisis Plans may be included at the discretion of the building administrator.

1. Protecting the safety and welfare of any person in the jurisdiction of the school resource officer;
2. Protecting the property of the school district;
3. Patrolling district property for suspicious activity or unauthorized persons;
4. Serving as a visible and active law enforcement officer on campus dealing with law-related areas such as drugs, traffic, trespassing, fighting, and thefts. If requested by the administrators, assist in the enforcement of campus rules and regulations;
5. Taking law enforcement actions to protect the students, staff, and campus;
6. Making arrests only when necessary;
7. Working and collaborating with outside agencies;
8. Assisting in coordinating security for crowd or vehicle control;
9. Assisting in outer agency investigations when it involves a student in district;
10. Providing instructions and directions to others as it pertains to law enforcement matters and emergency situations;
11. Conducting security building assessments for schools, guarding and checking/securing doors, rooms, buildings, and equipment;
12. Conducting investigations involving crimes, gang activity, violence, threats, or drugs;
13. Conducting drug or alcohol assessments as needed for students or staff;
14. Developing crime prevention efforts/strategies;
15. Educating school-age victims in crime prevention;
16. Developing/expanding community justice initiatives for students;
17. Helping students with conflict resolution, restorative justice, and crime awareness;
18. Assisting in the identification of physical changes in the environment that may reduce crime in or around schools;
19. Maintaining all certifications and staying up to date on training;
20. Assisting with all types of threats as a team member of the threat assessment team;
21. Carrying two radios, one for the school, and one for the police department; and
22. Utilizing the Triad Concept serving as a law enforcement officer, informal Counselor, and educator.
9.2. This Classification is distinguished from Police Sergeant who provides general supervision of the Police Officer in addition to the duties listed above.
