UNION MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 8.01 Every employee shall become and remain a member in good standing of the Union, as a condition of employment.
8.02 Subject only to the provisions of Section 70(2) of the Canada Labour Code, all employees will be required to sign an authorization for the deduction of Union dues and other amounts designated by the Union. The authorization form will be provided by the Union. The Employer will have all newly hired employees sign the form and a signed copy will be sent to the Union.
8.03 The Employer shall deduct from the earnings of each employee in the bargaining unit, the amount of the Union dues or payments in lieu thereof, and other amounts designated by the Union, in accordance with the Union’s constitution and (or) by-laws. These deductions shall be made for each bi-weekly payroll period and shall be considered as owing in the period for which they are so deducted.
8.04 All authorized deductions shall be remitted to the Union not later than twenty-eight (28) days after the date of deduction, along with a list of names and job titles of those employees from whose earnings such deductions have been made, together with the amounts deducted from each employee.
8.05 Before the Employer is obliged to deduct Union dues, the Union must advise the Employer in writing of the amount to be deducted from each employee. The amount so advised shall continue to be the amount to be deducted until changed by further written notice to the Employer by the Union. In all cases, the Union shall provide the Employer with a reasonable notice period to implement any change in deductions.
8.06 From the date of the signing of this Agreement and for its duration, no labour organization other than the Union shall be permitted to have membership dues or other monies deducted by the Employer from the earnings of the employees in the bargaining unit.
8.07 The annual T-4 slips issued by the Employer to the employees will include the amount of Union dues deducted in the previous taxation year.
8.08 The Employer’s obligations in relation to these check-off provisions are limited to:
(a) Deducting only such sums and for such purposes as are permitted by the law;
(b) Making only such deductions as are authorized by written assignments provided by employees, as required by Clause 8.02; and
(c) The total of any such deductions cannot exceed the net amounts owing by the Employer to the employee.
8.09 The union will indemnify the Employer against all claims, causes of action and damages for ...
UNION MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. Section 1: Union Membership
(a) All employees who are now members of the Union and those employees who subsequently become members of the Union shall remain members of the Union as a condition of employment, provided that no employee shall be deprived of employment by reason of loss of membership in the Union for reasons other than failure to pay regular Union dues that all other members of the Union are required to pay to the Union, nor shall any employee be deprived of employment by reason of the refusal of the Union to admit such employee to membership. All employees covered by the Union Certificate of Bargaining Authority shall pay to the Union an amount equal to the Union's dues, such payment to be made by payroll deduction. This deduction shall become effective on the first day of the pay period coincident with or next following the date of appointment, but the deduction shall be made only if the employee is still in the employ of the Employer on the final day of the first pay period. Deductions shall be made in respect of all subsequent pay periods provided an employee works any part of the pay period. These arrangements shall remain in effect for so long as this Union remains the recognized bargaining authority.
(b) The Employer agrees to acquaint all new employees covered by this Collective Agreement with the fact that a Collective Agreement between the Union and the Employer is in effect and with the conditions of employment set out herein dealing with the Definitions of Employees, Union Membership requirement and check-off of Union dues.
UNION MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 5.01 Within one (1) week of the signing of this Agreement, all members of the Bargaining Unit shall, as a condition of employment, become and remain members of the Union in good standing, according to the constitution and bylaws of the Union. As a condition of employment, all new members of the Bargaining Unit shall become and remain members in good standing of the Union within thirty (30) days of employment.
5.02 The Employer shall deduct from the salary of every member of the Bargaining Unit any dues, initiation fees, or assessments levied by the Union on its members.
5.03 Deductions shall be made from salaries once each month and shall be forwarded to the Treasurer of the Union not later than the 20th day of that month, accompanied by a list of names, addresses and job titles of Employees from whom deductions have been made. A copy of this list shall be forwarded by the Employer to the national headquarters of the Union.
5.04 At the same time as Income Tax (T-4) slips are made available the Employer shall type on the amount of union dues paid by each union member in the previous year.
UNION MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 9 To the extent the laws of the State of Michigan permit, it is agreed that: 10
11 (1) The current or future employment of bargaining unit employees is not contingent upon 12 membership in the Union or the payment of union dues or fees. 13
14 (2) The Employer agrees to make Union payroll deductions from the first (1st) and second 15 (2nd) pay period each month from the pay of the employees who have authorized that 16 such deductions be made as set forth in Subsections 4 and 5. 17
UNION MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 19.1 As set forth in Article 2, the Township recognizes the Police Officers Labor Council as the sole collective Bargaining Agency for all employees of the Shelby Township 911 Police/Fire Communication Technicians’ Union. The current or future employment of bargaining unit employees is not contingent upon membership in the Union or the payment of union dues or fees
19.2 Each employee who becomes a member of the Union must sign the Union’s Application for Union Membership and Authorized Dues Deduction Card, and shall do so with the understanding that the dues authorization and assignment shall be revocable at any time upon receipt of sixty (60) days’ notice to the Union. Authorization and assignment is voluntary and not conditioned upon present or future membership in the Union.
19.3 The Employer shall retain original Application for Union Membership and Authorized Dues Deduction Cards and the Union shall retain copies of the Cards. (In the case where the employee signs using an electronic signature, both parties shall retain the electronic copy.) The Employer shall not deduct any dues from any employee without a Card signed by the employee.
19.4 Employees who choose to become a member of the Union may resign their membership at any time by notifying the Union, but may still be responsible for dues and fees for a period of sixty (60) days after notifying the Union as set forth in Section 19.2.
19.5 The Union will protect, save harmless, and indemnify the employer from any and all claims, demands, suits, and other forms of liability by reason of action taken by the employer for the purpose of complying with this article of the Agreement.
UNION MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 4.01 All Employees covered by this Agreement, as a condition of continued employment, shall become members of the Union within thirty (30) days of commencement of employment.
4.02 The Employer agrees to deduct from the wages of all Employees covered by this Agreement, as a condition of employment, the regular monthly dues of Local 1012 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. The Secretary-Treasurer of the School District shall remit to the Secretary-Treasurer of Local 1012, Canadian Union of Public Employees, the amount of Union dues deducted together with a list of those Employees' names for whom dues have been deducted not later than the fifteenth (15th) of the month following that in which the dues were deducted.
4.03 The Employer shall forward a list of all employees' names, addresses and phone numbers to the Recording Secretary of Local 1012. The list shall be forwarded by October 15th and May 15th of each year.
UNION MEMBERSHIP AND CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES. 4.01 (a) The Employer shall first call the Union office whenever personnel are required. If the Union cannot supply such personnel within twenty-four (24) hours, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays, the Employer may secure such personnel from any other source. The Employer may recall former regular employees through the Union office who have been absent from the Employer up to twelve (12) months.

(a) The Employer agrees to employ only members in good standing of the Union for the performance covered by this Agreement. All employees shall present to the Employer a referral slip from the Union prior to his commencing employment. The Employer shall hire all of its employees covered by this Agreement through the Union and shall call the Union office by p.m. for his needed supply of men for the following day. Should the Union be unable to furnish sufficient men then the Employer may hire such labour as is available and such persons shall, as a condition of employment and continued employment, be required to apply for membership in the Union within seven calendar days of hiring and shall be required to maintain such membership while working within the bargaining unit. The Union will not unreasonably withhold membership from anyone who is requested in writing by the Employer. R ecall Applicabl e t o Local s an d only. The Company shall have the right to recall those members in good standing who are on the out-of-work list of the Local Union that were employed by the Company within the Local’s during the last six months. All employees shall present to the Employer a referral slip from the Union prior to his employment.
