00 - HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME. 11.01 a) The following paragraphs and sections are intended to define the normal hours of work and it is hereby expressly understood that the provisions of this article shall not be construed to be a guarantee of, or limitation upon, the hours of work to be done per day or per week or otherwise, nor as a guarantee of working schedules.

00 - HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME. 6.01 WORK DAY/WEEK - The normal hours of work throughout this Agreement shall be: A) fifty (50) hours per week, Monday to Friday, inclusive B) ten (10) hours per day with one half (½) hour for lunch and one half (½) hour for supper. 6.02 STARTING TIME - The normal starting time shall be within the time 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The scheduling of daily working hours shall be made by the Company, and may be changed by the Company, from time to time, to suit varying conditions of business and inclement weather.
00 - HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME. 15.02 Shift employees shall be deemed to be employees who are required to work a regularly scheduled rotating one-shift system. Shift employees shall be subject to a twelve (12) hour day, and an average (40) hour week, and the schedules of shift work shall be posted in advance by the Corporation. 15.03 Overtime shall mean any work in excess of twelve (12) hours per day and an average forty (40) hours per week, subject to 15.02 above. Whenever practical, overtime will be offered on a fair and equal basis to qualified employees. Exceptions include emergency situations and high risk or complex jobs. 15.04 Payments for authorized overtime shall be made as follows: (a) All hours worked in excess of twelve (12) hours per day or an average forty (40) hours per week shall be paid at double (2) times the employee's regular rate of pay.
00 - HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME. 16.01 The work week for all employees shall be deemed to start Sunday and end with Saturday. All Full Time Employees shall be paid for forty (40) hours in each work week. In the event a Full Time Employee voluntarily leaves early due to no pre-bookings, or incurs time off without pay the Employee will be paid for actual hours worked. Regular hourly rate shall apply to hours worked up to forty-two (42) hours per week; time and one half (1 ½) the employee’s regular hourly rate shall apply for any hours worked above forty-two (42) hours per week. In the case of split shifts no Employee shall be required to report for work more than twice daily with the exception of Employees that respond to a call in at over time rate of pay. No Employee shall be scheduled over a maximum spread of twelve (12) hours as their normal workday inclusive of breaks. An Employee shall make every attempt to make Health Care and other personal appointments during normal time off. Time off for these appointments requires prior approval by the Employee’s Supervisor. An Employee granted time off for Health Care or other appointments or other emergencies shall not be paid for time taken from scheduled hours of work. The Employee shall request approval from his or her Supervisor for said appointments as early as possible. The Employer shall provide each Driver with a thirty (30) minute sign-in time. This time is for the purpose of checking his/her assigned vehicle and travel time to first destination. The Employer shall provide each Driver with a twenty (20) minute sign-out time. This time is for the purpose of travel time from Operation Lift to the Transit Garage or other location within the County of Xxxxx that may be designated by the Employer, and visual inspection of vehicle, including washing, cleaning and fuelling of bus. The following principles shall be considered in the development and utilization of various sign-ups. a. The Employer and all employees recognize that shift sign-ups shall be completed in order of seniority commencing with the most senior employee by classification. Full-time employees shall select in order of seniority prior to selection by part-time employees in their order of seniority. Selection shall be completed within the sign-up period as identified by the Employer. If any employee or Xxxxxxx fails to select a shift, the Employee shall be assigned a shift by the Employer. b. 00 - HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME. (a) For employees in elementary school offices, the normal hours of work shall be thirty-five (35) hours per week worked in five (5) days of seven (7) hours each, Monday to Friday inclusive. (b) For employees in the Administrative Offices (except for shift workers) the normal hours of work during the school year (September - June) shall be thirty-five (35) hours per week worked in five (5) days between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday as determined by Management. (c) For employees in secondary schools, the starting and stopping times per day shall be set by the Principal of the school as authorized by the Director of Education. The maximum normal work week shall consist of thirty-six and one-half (36½) hours. This arrangement is to provide "make up time" for the non-working period during the Christmas and mid-winter breaks. (d) Elementary school employees starting and stopping times regarding the school year (September to June) shall be at the discretion of the Director of Education and the Principal of each school. (e) It is the normal annual expectation that Elementary School Secretaries shall report to school, prior to the commencement of each school year, five (5) working days prior to the day students are scheduled to return to school, and they shall remain at school up to and including the first Friday in July, or to the end of the fourth working day after the last official school day at the end of the school year, whichever date is earlier in July. (f) Notwithstanding (b) above, commencing for the school year 2003/2004, full-time employees in twelve (12) month positions in the Education Centre may bank make up time to cover the eight (8) non-working Fridays during the summer (July and August). The arrangement to bank time will be determined by mutual agreement between the employee and the employee’s immediate supervisor, subject to approval by the employee’s Manager, and must be tracked and forwarded in writing to the Manager of Human Resources Administration prior to June 30 each year. Make up time shall be banked and used on a 1:1 basis, and in the event the employee banks time but leaves the position or for any other reason does not use or require the banked time, it shall not be carried forward or paid out. Notwithstanding Article L17.02, time banked in accordance with this provision shall not be considered or applied as overtime for any purpose.

00 - HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME. 7.01 REGULAR WORK WEEK - A regular workweek shall consist of forty five (45) hours and is that period from Sunday to Saturday. The regular workday and shift schedule for day shift shall be nine (9) hours per day, between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.. The regular work day for night shift shall be between the hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday to Friday and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

(b) The hours of work for Part-time Employees will be less than Full-time Employee hours. When temporally filling in for a Full-time Employee (for such periods as sick leave, vacation, leaves of absence, etc.), the Part- time Employee may work hours equivalent to a Full-time Employee. 17.03 Operators are responsible for, but not limited to, cleaning the interior of the vehicle and fueling their assigned vehicle during their shift. 17.04 A thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period shall be scheduled for each Operator that works in excess of five (5) hours in a row. A one (1) hour unpaid lunch period shall be scheduled for each Dispatcher that is scheduled in excess of five (5) hours in a row. All lunch periods shall begin at a time that is designated by the Dispatcher/Scheduler. 17.05 The Corporation shall provide each Employee a period of at least eight (8) hours free from the performance of work between shifts unless the total time worked on successive shifts does not exceed thirteen (13) hours or unless the Employee accepts a call-in on a volunteer basis.
