General Overtime. When there are special reasons, general overtime may be taken out by not more than 150 hours per calendar year. In the calculation of overtime, leave scheduled for the employee’s regular working hours or on-call time shall be equated to performed working hours. General overtime may be taken out by not more than 48 hours during a period of four weeks or 50 hours during a calendar month. These hour numbers may be exceeded only if there are exceptional reasons, e.g., when it is necessary in order to complete work that cannot be interrupted without significant detriment to the business.
General Overtime. “General overtime” is any overtime that has not been declared 26 as emergency overtime by the Superintendent or designee.
General Overtime. Where particular needs arise, general overtime may be worked for a maximum of 200 hours per calendar year. In calculating overtime, leave scheduled for the employee’s regular working hours or on-call hours shall be equated with working hours performed.
General Overtime a. The district will survey employees at the start of the work year and create a voluntary overtime priority list which will be used for first call before distributing overtime by district seniority. If an employee signs up for this voluntary overtime list, he or she may not remove him or herself from the list during the school year and he/she will respond to calls made to their phones. Employees on this list will be called by seniority. The employees on this list will be called through a rotation when possible. Failure to respond to three calls will result in removal from the list. Employees not on the voluntary overtime list may be called in the event of an emergency in accordance with the mandatory overtime provisions.
b. Overtime shall be awarded to employees based on building assignment, specialized skills and seniority in the building. If the overtime is not filled at the building level, then seniority by district will be considered first. In the case staff assigned to a building do not possess the specific skills required for and accept the overtime, then that overtime will be offered KCPS wide by qualifications and seniority once the voluntary overtime list is exhausted.
c. KCPS shall develop a list of all employees with specializations and seniority dates for supervisors to utilize when awarding seniority.
General Overtime. 42.1 A full-time employee who performs authorized work in excess of the employee’s normal work period, regular work week, work day or shift shall be compensated for such work at the rate of one and one-half (½) times the employee’s regular hourly rate of pay. For the purpose of determining an employee’s eligibility for overtime compensation under the provisions of this ARTICLE, an employee shall be regarded as having performed authorized work when he or she is on an authorized paid leave of absence.
42.1.1 Overtime shall be calculated to the nearest one-quarter (¼) hour of overtime worked, except any overtime of less than one-half (½) hour duration shall be calculated to the nearest one-half (½) hour.
42.1.2 All overtime must be authorized by the appropriate division head.
42.1.3 Compensatory time at the overtime rate for employees may be authorized by the appropriate supervisor in lieu of pay on the basis of the best interest of the Anaheim Police Department and ANAHEIM, but, the employee shall have the option of being paid in cash for any overtime work performed, or accepting the half time portion in pay and accumulating the straight time. The employee shall also have the option of accruing up to a maximum of eighty (80) hours compensatory time per year. Such compensatory time shall be paid off to a balance of forty (40) hours on the last payday in June of each year. A terminating employee shall be compensated at his/her current rate of pay for accrued compensatory time.
42.1.3.1 The Chief of Police shall have authority to suspend the option of accepting the half time portion in pay and accumulating straight time by any work section, or any classification, or any individual employee in the event that temporary or short term staffing levels or other work anomalies result in employees not having a reasonable expectation of taking compensatory time off. General Overtime a. Any employee who is assigned to restricted duty shall not be eligible for call-out overtime.
b. Settlement of any disputed overtime will be handled through the grievance procedure and if found in favor of the employee, then such deprived employee shall be offered one and a half times the amount of overtime work twice within one month after the resolution of the dispute compensated for those hours on the next paycheck immediately following that decision at the applicable rate of pay. For every day an employee is wrongfully forced in, they shall receive one additional unpaid Floating Holiday.
c. Employees performing make-up overtime pursuant to an upheld grievance shall not displace any individuals who have volunteered for overtime on the same shift when overtime work is available.
d. The Employer will notify employees at least two (2) hours in advance of the end of the work shift of any overtime that must be performed except in the case of emergency where it is beyond the ability of the Employer to anticipate such necessary overtime.
e. When the Employer is unable to fill all the vacancies that occur with the temporary progression and overtime becomes necessary, the overtime will be applied to the highest classified job where the vacancy occurs.
f. If an employee is moved up to the next higher classification on a weekly basis to cover a temporary vacancy, and another vacancy then becomes open on the same crew of a unit after 1800 hours on Friday, no one will be required to move back down and the overtime will be paid in the classification where the second vacancy occurs. If both vacancies were to extend into the following week, the schedule would be changed so the overtime would be paid in the higher classification.
g. When employees are released to work from a medical leave of absence, they will be assigned to their regular job classification on their regular shift at that time. Employees who have been scheduled to cover the absent employee will return to their regular classification and regular shift with no reduction of normal work hours upon the return of the absent employee. h. For the purpose of overtime assignment, an operator who is scheduled to work in vacation, emergency in the family, holiday, jury duty, Union negotiations, and for a legitimate reason (i.e., sickness, the next higher classification for the work week will receive overtime in that higher classification on their scheduled days off....

In calculating overtime, rest periods that are scheduled for the salaried employee’s regular working time or on-call time shall be treated in the same way as completed working time.
General Overtime. (i) All time worked outside the ordinary hours shall be overtime, and shall be paid for at a rate of time and one half for the first two hours and double time thereafter.
(ii) An employee who is directed and does attend to work overtime on a Saturday shall be paid a minimum of 4 hours at the rate set out in subclause (i).
(iii) Where an employee commences on one calendar day and extends into the following calendar day, the whole period of overtime shall be deemed to have been worked on the former day for the purpose of calculation of overtime.
(iv) An employee (other than a casual) who works so much overtime between the termination of ordinary work on one day and the commencement of ordinary work on the next day that he or she has not had at least ten (10) consecutive hours off duty between those times shall be released after completion of such overtime until he or she has had ten (10) consecutive hours off duty without loss of pay for ordinary working time occurring during such absence. If an employee is instructed to resume work without having ten (10) consecutive hours off duty, the employee shall be paid at double ordinary rates until released from duty and then shall be entitled to a ten (10) hour break without loss of pay.
(v) An employer may require any employee to work reasonable overtime at overtime rates and such employee shall work overtime in accordance with such requirement.
General Overtime. Overtime shall be rotated equitably within the employee's job classification by location and by seniority. If the overtime worked requires specific qualifications (to the extent that such qualifications are necessary as it applies to each employee assigned to the job), only those employees so qualified to perform such work will be allowed the overtime. When the classification list is exhausted for the purpose of assigning overtime, any qualified employee may be assigned overtime on a seniority basis. An employee specifically called in to perform overtime work shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours overtime pay. An employee who performs overtime work as a continuation of his regular working hours shall be paid at overtime rates only for the overtime hours actually worked, either in accordance with Article XXII, Section A, or in accordance with current practice for all other employees. All overtime of any kind worked by an employee will be counted for equalization purposes.
