WORK DAY AND WORK HOURS. 13.1 The regular teacher work day shall not exceed seven and one-half (7 ½) hours, including a duty free lunch as specified in 13.2, except for one meeting per month at the discretion of the Superintendent provided at least forty-eight (48) hours advance notice is given. Teachers may be required to stay beyond the regular work day for purposes of attendance at Open House, IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences and emergencies. In the event the administration intends to change the teacher work day, the administration shall notify the Association, which may in turn make a timely demand to bargain over any change in the teacher work day. 13.2 All full-time employees shall be entitled to a duty-free uninterrupted lunch period equal to that of the students but not less than thirty (30) minutes. 13.3 All teachers are required to have written lesson plans for a minimum of five (5) days in advance. 13.4 Full time teachers shall be provided preparation time during the student attendance day. Such time shall be equal to one (1) regular teaching period. Teachers are expected to be available to students during that set period at school unless special permission from administration is granted. 13.5 Nothing is this article shall require the employer to keep schools open in the event of severe inclement weather or when otherwise prevented by an act of God. When the schools are closed to students due to the above conditions, employees shall not be required to report for duty. 13.6 In addition to the four (4) in-service days scheduled each year, teachers will have two (2) additional days of in-service programs, with the departure time on such days no later than 4:15 p.m. On days of in-service programs early dismissal of students will be scheduled. 13.7 Full-time non-certified employees shall receive a twenty minute daily break. 13.8 Guidance Counselor and Ag Teacher may be hired up to an 11 month contract at the Board discretion. 13.9 All non-certified employees shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for all hours actually worked in excess of forty (40) hours in a workweek.

WORK DAY AND WORK HOURS. The regularly scheduled work day shall begin at 7:45 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Exceptions to the regularly scheduled work day shall be for performing all other professional responsibilities including but not limited to institute days, teacher conferences, I.E.P. staffings, extracurricular activities, staff meetings and open houses. Any reductions to these hours shall be left to the discretion of the administration without challenge of these decisions by the WEA. The normal teaching load for high school teachers under a traditional 8 period day shall be 6 class assignments, a 7th assignment involving supervision of an area, and 1 preparation period. If a teacher receives a 7th class assignment in place of the supervision assignment, the teacher shall be compensated an amount equal to 1/16th (for full year) of his/her current salary schedule salary. If a teacher receives a 7th class assignment in place of a preparation period, the teacher shall be compensated an amount equal to 1/8th (for full year) of his/her current salary schedule salary. Junior and senior high teachers will have unpaid lunchtime supervision as part of their teaching assignment. The supervision schedule will rotate between junior and senior high staff members on a weekly basis, with 1 staff member assigned each week for supervision. The junior/senior high principal will create the weekly rotating lunch supervision schedule. Teacher initiated student tutoring and student practice sessions during preparation periods shall not be considered an overload. Junior high and high school teachers shall be provided one assigned preparatory period equal in length to a normal class period. All elementary teachers and special education teachers shall be provided at least thirty minutes per day for preparatory period. When the need arises, a teacher may be assigned to cover other classes during his/her preparatory period. Administrators will make a reasonable effort to hire outside substitutes before using in-house substitutes. In- house substitutes may be used: a. When a teacher has indicated a willingness to be used as an in-house substitute without stipulations, or b. If the administration receives notification of the teacher's absence the morning of the absence, or c. In the event of an emergency absence of a teacher, or d. Efforts to hire an out-side substitute have failed and the building administrator has administrative commitments which prevents him from substituting.

All bargaining unit members shall be entitled to a duty-free lunch uninterrupted lunch period of at least 35 minutes. E. Nothing in this article shall require the Employer to keep schools open in the event of severe inclement weather or when otherwise prevented by an Act of God. When schools are closed to students due to the conditions above, bargaining unit members shall not be required to report for duty and shall suffer no loss of pay.
WORK DAY AND WORK HOURS. 1. Faculty members shall be present in their respective buildings for a period of seven (7) and three quarters consecutive hours each day. With the exception of educators teaching zero hour classes, contract hours begin at 7:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, including Fridays scheduled as in-service days, days preceding holidays, spring and/or winter vacations and days utilized for parent-educator conferences or open houses, educators may leave at 2:40 p.m. and 2:50 p.m. from Freshman and UpperCampus respectively. A full-time teaching load shall be defined as five periods of classroom instruction, one support period (AIM), one period of supervision, and one period of planning time. The zero hour class starts at 6:34 a.m. at the Upper Campus and 6:24 a.m. at the Freshman Campus. 2. All educators shall be entitled to a duty-free uninterrupted lunch period as required in Section 24-9 of the School Code. 3. Nothing in this contract shall require the district to keep schools open in the event of severe inclement weather or when otherwise prevented by an Act of God. When the schools are closed to students due to the above conditions, educators shall not be required to report for duty. 4. All educators shall be given written notice of their tentative building assignments, class and/or subject assignment for the forthcoming school year not later than July 1. Nothing herein shall preclude the administration from changing said tentative assignments at any time. An educator shall be notified of any such change of his/her tentative assignment.
WORK DAY AND WORK HOURS. 7-1 The school calendar shall consist of 185 days of which 176 will be student attendance days and four (4) will be institute days. The Teacher work year will consist of 180 attendance days. Unused emergency days shall not become work days for Teachers. The Superintendent will create a minimum of four calendar proposals using staff feedback and district constraints. The superintendent will meet with designated members of the GEA for input before creating/ providing teachers with calendars to vote on. Teachers will have opportunity to vote on their preference, with a calendar receiving a minimum of 50% of the vote recommended to the Board for adoption. 7-2 Work day is to begin at 7:30 and end at 3:15, Monday thru Friday. The regular work day for all teachers shall not exceed 7 hours and 45 minutes, including the teacher’s duty free lunch. 7-3 Each Teacher shall be required to become Red Cross Certified in First Aid and CPR. Such training shall be offered by the School District and at its expense during school years with odd first semesters. 7-4 Each Teacher will complete state required Global Network Compliance Trainings on an annual basis, before being dismissed on the year-end Institute Day. Administration will devote 1 (one) In-Service Afternoon for this purpose. 7-5 Administration will devote one (1) In-Service Afternoon for teachers to work on Evaluation documentation.

The typical day shall commence at 7:45 A.M. and conclude at 3:35 P.M. unless otherwise approved by the Principal. During each workday, the employee shall be entitled to a duty-free lunch period equal to that specified in the School Code of Illinois, Section 24-9. B. The basic weekly teaching assignment in the senior high school may consist of thirty (30) teaching periods or twenty-five (25) teaching periods and five (5) periods where other duties may be assigned, and five (5) preparation periods. WORK DAY AND WORK HOURS. The regular teacher work day shall be from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Fridays or days preceding holidays or vacation, or days when school is dismissed early due to weather conditions, the teacher day shall end ten (10) minutes after the close of the pupil day except on scheduled School Improvement and Teacher Institute Days, and on Final Exam days when teachers are expected to stay for the full work day. Teachers may be required to remain until 3:45 to attend meetings or meet with parents or students.
