Education and Development. A. The Evesham Municipal Utilities Authority is committed to the continuing education and professional development of its employees. The Union recognizes, accepts and agrees with the concept of continuing education and professional development of employees. B. An employee who obtains prior approval from the EMUA to take courses which are related to employment requirements and who completes and passes the course, shall be reimbursed conditionally for tuition, books, course materials and registration fees. No employee shall be eligible for reimbursement unless the employee has first obtained the prior approval of the EMUA to attend the class. C. It is a condition of reimbursement that an employee must remain in the employ of the EMUA for two (2) years from the date of the completion of the course, or any reimbursement payment, whichever is later. If an employee leaves for any reason other than death, disability, layoff or retirement at the age of 65 within the two (2) year period, then any reimbursement payment received by the employee for the course shall be repaid in full to the EMUA by the employee. D. Courses shall be taken, whenever practicable, in-house and in the evening hours or on weekends so as not to conflict with regular working schedules. In the event that a certain course can only be taken during the regular Authority working day, and the Authority agrees that the employee should take the course, then the employee and the Authority shall attempt to rearrange the working schedule of the employee so that he may still work a 40-hour week. Employees receiving approval to attend a seminar conducted during the workday shall receive their normal compensation, up to 8 hours a day. E. An employee shall not be compensated for any time spent in taking courses or in study or preparation for course work. The Authority, however, shall compensate the employee for any time spent in taking examinations for licenses, if those examinations are offered only during the regular EMUA workday and in addition, only if the employee passes the examination. An employee may, however, take a vacation or personal day in order to be compensated for a day in which an examination is taken, but not passed. If the employee prefers to take an examination during the workday which is offered at night or fails an examination taken during the workday, the employee shall not be compensated for that time. F. Education and Development. A. Tuition reimbursement is available for normal and customary expenses associated with a class, seminar, conference, or study course that is useful for the Sergeant’s position, performance or to a logical career path with the RTAA. B. The reimbursement is available for any course begun in a fiscal year up to a maximum of $1,500. There will be no reimbursement if the cost is assumed by any other institution, scholarship, or grant-in-aid. C. The Sergeant must submit application for approval for tuition reimbursement through the Operations Commander to the Chief People, Culture, & Equity Officer prior to the start of the educational course. Final approval for tuition reimbursement will be made by the Chief People, Culture, & Equity Officer; any denials will be for articulable, written reasons. Requests will be denied if the RTAA determines that the educational course does not meet the requirements of section A, above, or if the RTAA’s fiscal year Tuition Reimbursement budget limit has already been reached based on requests previously submitted and approved. D. Reimbursable expenses shall include tuition, course fees, books and consumable materials. E. While courses shall normally be taken on the Sergeant’s own time, exceptions may be granted by the Chief of Police, in which case hours from work must be deducted from earned vacation or be recorded as an unpaid excused absence. F. Reimbursement will be made upon presentation of receipts for covered costs and grade notices substantiating a grade of C or better, PASS in a pass/fail course or certificate of completion/attendance.
Education and Development. An EMPLOYEE will be reimbursed for educational training courses taken subsequent to approval of the Fire Chief and Director of Human Resources pursuant to the following: 1. The training must be related to the required skill or education for the EMPLOYEE’S current position or to a logical career path with the EMPLOYER. 2. Only a full-time EMPLOYEE will be eligible for reimbursement for course work after successful completion of the probationary period. Further eligibility may be determined by the Fire Chief in accordance with the departmental training program approved by the President/CEO. 3. No EMPLOYEE will be reimbursed more than $1500.00 per fiscal year. There will be no reimbursement if the cost is assumed by any other institution, scholarship or grant-in-aid. 5. Reimbursable expenses shall be restricted to tuition and course fees. While courses shall be normally taken on the EMPLOYEE’S own time, exception may be granted by the Fire Chief, in which case hours from work must be deducted from earned vacation or be recorded as an unpaid, excused absence. 6. Reimbursement will be effected upon presentation of evidence to substantiate the expense, evidence of passing grade/certification of completion.
Education and Development. It is recognized that advances in technology, increasing standards, competitive pressures and improvements in the manufacturing process will require employees to continuously improve their skills, to develop new skills, and to gain additional knowledge. The Union and the Company endorse the principle of continuous improvement. Therefore, when new equipment or machinery is installed, or existing equipment is updated, the Company shall provide training to hourly maintenance employees who are primarily responsible for maintaining this equipment. The Company will pay for this on the job training at the applicable rate. Section 2 To assist and support employees in attaining and maintaining required skills, the Company will make available to all employees educational and training programs. The Union recognizes the necessity of protecting the integrity of the materials used in connection with these programs and will assist the Company in protecting the same. Section 3 Every effort will be made by the Company for all employees to have an opportunity to participate in an Educational Assistance Program. Maintenance employees will have preference for training. The Company will determine the timing and content of any Education and Training programs, which are offered to the employees.

Education and Development. (a) SJGHC is committed to providing a comprehensive Professional Development Program for all Nurses. The SJGHC Staff Development Coordinators and the Directors of Nursing of each Hospital manage the Program in collaboration to ensure high quality programs and the sharing of expertise and knowledge. Programs are developed based on a needs analysis conducted on an annual basis. (b) Professional Development Program (i) formal orientation programs; (ii) Mandatory training, such as Basic Life Support, Fire and Emergency Evacuation, Safety Updates, Manual Handling, etc. (c) Professional Development/Conference Leave (i) SJGHC has traditionally ensured that operating budgets make reasonable provision for the ongoing professional development of nursing staff. SJGHC will encourage all nursing staff to attend relevant seminars and conferences on a regular basis. Costs may: (1) be shared between the Employee and SJGHC; or (2) be paid for by SJGHC when appropriate. (ii) SJGHC further agrees that full time Nurses (pro rata for part time) will be entitled to five (5) days paid professional development/conference leave per year for professional development that is relevant to the Employee’s area of work as confirmed by the Director of Nursing or their delegate. A “day” for the purpose of this clause is the Employee’s normal shift length and need not fall on the day the Employee is otherwise rostered to work. This leave is for the Employee’s personal and mandatory professional development, and is in addition to other leave entitlements. To access the benefits of this provision it is the responsibility of the Employee to make an application for this leave and provide a written report upon completion of the program.
Education and Development. (a) The NRL will meet the reasonable travel, accommodation and course costs incurred by Referees in attending approved training and development courses that the NRL requires Referees to attend, provided that such costs are approved by the Executive General Manager – Elite Football before they are incurred. (b) Referees are eligible for study assistance of $3,000 per annum (for Part Time Referees this is pro rata) in accordance with the NRL Learning and Development policy as updated from time to time (Study Assistance Payment). The NRL Learning and Development policy does not form part of this Agreement. (c) Subject to prior approval by the Executive General Manager – Elite Football, Referees who receive the Study Assistance Payment are eligible for one day study leave per week. Education and Development. 19.1.1 St Xxxxxx’s believes that the quality of service provision in the future will be very dependent on the skills and abilities attained and to be acquired by employees. As a consequence St Xxxxxx’s believes it has a responsibility toward employees to invest in the enhancement of existing skills and the development of new skills appropriate to its business. The employee has a responsibility to use the education provided by St Andrew’s as a means of improving employee performance on the job. 19.1.2 The parties to this agreement record their intention that staff be given reasonable opportunity to undertake programmes of study or education relevant to their employment. Leave, with or without payment, may be approved as deemed appropriate by St Xxxxxxx. 19.1.3 In-service education is provided as appropriate to each of the various groups of employees. 19.1.4 Employees must attend compulsory in-service education programmes applicable to their employee group as defined by St Andrew’s including those courses prescribed as mandatory by the Ministry of Health and those government agencies with which St Andrew’s holds service contracts. 19.1.5 Attendance at any individual education programme will be arranged by St Xxxxxx’s within normal rostered hours of work. Where factors with regard to St Xxxxxx’s business prevent an employee from being available for a course within the normal rostered hours of duty, St Xxxxxx’s will arrange attendance outside the normal rostered hours of work but in doing so St Xxxxxx’s must have regard for the reasonable circumstances of the employee. 19.1.6 Where an employee attends a course generally within rostered work hours at the request of St Xxxxxx’s but the course time is either shorter or longer than the shift would have been, St Andrew’s will pay the length of the shift or the course whichever is the greater subject to a requirement that if the course is shorter than the shift and the employee is reasonably able to return to work for the remainder of the shift then the employee must do so. 19.1.7 In those situations where the employee is unable to be available to attend an education programme as requested by St Xxxxxx’s within their normal rostered hours of duty St Xxxxxx’s will pay for the employee's time attending a programme taking place outside normal rostered hours.
