Peer Coaches. 1. Peer Coaches shall be credentialed classroom unit members with permanent status. Coaches shall have substantial recent experience (at least five years). They shall have demonstrated exemplary ability, as indicated by effective communication skills, subject matter knowledge, and mastery of a range of strategies necessary to meet the needs of pupils in different contexts.

Peer Coaches. 40.3.1 A peer coach is a permanent unit member who provides assistance to a participating teacher pursuant to the PAR program. Peer coaches will possess the following qualifications.
Peer Coaches. HCM’s dollars will support the employment of the Peer Coaches. The total number of FTEs devoted to those positions will be determined, annually, during the budgeting process. The qualifications for Peer Coaches will be outlined on the official posting. Postings will be internal, first, but may be posted externally if not enough candidates apply. Peer Coaches will be active members of HEA. The Peer Coaches will be paid at a rate commensurate with their current positions as defined in the Master Agreement. Peer Coaches will be evaluated and eligible for the HCM bonus in each of the two (2) years or as long as this document is in effect and at the same rate as the %FTE bonus. Peer Coaches will be trained as observers / coaches. The main tasks of the Peer Coach will be to observe, collaborate with, and coach tenured Teachers. Other duties and specific requirements associated with the observations / experiences will be defined by HCM’s manager, the Peer Coaches, HEA’s president, and the District. Peer Coaches given assignments to observe, rate, and coach Teachers in subject areas in which they do not work must commit to spending time orienting themselves to those other areas. If the orientation needs of Peer Coaches must involve extra hours for Teachers to coach a Peer Coach, the Teacher will be able to time card these extra hours at the writing rate. Application for any such time-carded hours must be submitted to HCM’s manager for processing. Be it understood that HEA believes that the best situation would be for Peer Coaches to have a 1.0 FTE assignment as a Peer Coach. It is also understood, however, that some Teachers would prefer to do this task and remain active in the classroom. Whichever is the case, it shall be an expectation that schedules be managed to allow for bi-monthly collaboration meetings in which all Peer Coaches participate at the same time. Further, schedules must provide for on-going training opportunities for all Peer Coaches at the same time. Participating in collaboration and training sessions should avoid the necessity of missing teaching a class. The preferred term for a Peer Coach is 3 years. This does not, however, exclude the Peer Coach from applying for another 3-year period. HEA and the District recognize that, in special circumstances, some terms may need to be extended. Should an extension be desired, the President of HEA and the Assistant Superintendent will meet and confer to approve or deny the request of extended time. Peer...
