ORIENTATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. 20.01 The Agency recognizes the need for an Agency Orientation Program of such duration as it may deem appropriate taking into consideration the needs of the Agency and the employees involved.
20.02 Both the Employer and the Association recognize their joint responsibility and commitment to provide and to participate in inservice education. The Association supports the principle of its members’ responsibility for their own professional development and the Agency will endeavour to provide programs related to the requirements of the Agency. Available programs will be publicized and the Agency will endeavour to provide employees with opportunities to attend such programs during their regularly scheduled working hours.
(a) With prior approval each case manager has available to them the amount of $500.00 per annum to be used for continuing education specifically related to the work of HPS as determined by the Executive Director or designate.
(b) A case manager required to attend continuing education outside of scheduled hours (i.e., in excess of 35 hours per week) will be compensated in lieu time at the rate of one for one for each hour of continuing education attendance.
(c) With prior approval, a case manager may be permitted to attend continuing education during scheduled work hours without loss of pay.
(d) For education activities, not approved under subsection (a), during scheduled hours of work, staff may request a scheduling change to accommodate their attendance, subject to the ongoing operational needs of the organization. It is understood that this is not paid time.
(e) Mileage for travel to and from approved educational activities shall be paid for by the Employer out of the educational allowance established in (a).
ORIENTATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. 11.01 Nurses shall have the opportunity for professional growth through programs designed to assist the individual to function more effectively. These shall include:
(a) Orientation programs shall be developed for all new nurses and prior to any nurse assuming responsibility for a program.
(b) A staff educational program related specifically to professional development for all nurses including part-time nurses. This opportunity shall be divided equitably amongst all nurses at the discretion of the appropriate Director.
(c) Supervision which includes regular performance evaluation will take place. Nurses shall be given copies of all evaluations after they have been appropriately signed.
(d) Attendance for nurses who are members at professional meetings (for example, RNAO, CNA, XXXX and CPHA), for at least one (1) day without loss of regular salary provided that it does not unreasonably interfere with the efficient operation of the Health Unit, at the discretion of the Director. The maximum number of nurses absent for any one period for this purpose shall not exceed two (2) per office.
(e) Leave of absence without loss of regular pay to allow a nurse to write the required examination on completion of a course of study relevant to the profession if approved by the Director except when in receipt of Educational Support. The parties agree that whenever a nurse is chosen by the College of Nurses of Ontario to participate in Practice Review, the provisions of Article 11.01(e) will be interpreted to include the Practice Review Written Assessment and such selection will not require approval by the Director. In such situations, the Director will be informed of the date of the written assessment
(f) Leave of absence from regular duties without loss of regular pay, fees, travel allowance as set out in Article 17, accommodation, and a meal allowance up to fifty dollars ($50.00) per day for short courses, workshops and meetings approved by the Director may be allowed. The number of nurses and the selection of nurses allowed to attend to be at the discretion of the Director. (No reimbursement for alcohol: breakdown of Breakfast $10.00, Lunch $14.00, Dinner $26.00).
(g) Notwithstanding the provisions of Article 19 and any other relevant article, where the Director approves the attendance for a short course, workshop or meeting, the employee shall be paid at her straight time hourly rate for all time spent in attendance and in transit as per course curriculum or meeting ag...
ORIENTATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. 10.01 An orientation and in service program will be provided to all employees. These programs shall be reviewed and discussed from time to time by members of the Union-Management Committee.
10.02 A newly employed employee shall not be placed in charge, until she has been fully oriented to the home.
10.03 The following minimums shall be observed in the orientation/familiarization of a newly hired employee:
(a) She is to be familiarized with the physical aspects of the building, the applicable policies and procedures of the employer, and the daily routine of employees in the Home.
(b) The period of orientation/familiarization shall be for a minimum of five (5) days or such greater period that the Employer deems necessary.
(c) She shall be an additional employee to the usual staffing pattern.
(d) The employee or employees involved in the orientation/familiarization will confirm that it has been completed, and this will be noted on the newly hired employee's personnel file, which will be reviewed with such employee, and the employee shall also be able to comment.
(e) The employee may request up to three (3) additional days of paid orientation. When making her request, the employee will specify her learning needs and discuss with the Director of Care the development of the orientation learning plan. This request will not be unreasonably denied.
(f) Notwithstanding the above, orientation/familiarization when an employee is transferred to a new unit/shift will be provided as required.
(g) The Employer may, at its discretion, provide orientation in other circumstances.
10.04 Both the Employer and the Union recognize the joint responsibility and commitment to provide, and participate in, in-service education. The Union supports the principle of its members' responsibility for their own professional development and the Employer will endeavour to provide programmes related to the requirements of the Home. Programmes will be publicized and related material will be made readily accessible to staff in a timely manner. Any problems in accessing this information will be reported to the Union- Management Committee for resolution.
(a) When an employee is required by the Employer to attend any in-service program or e-learning within the Home during her or his regularly scheduled working hours the employee shall suffer no loss of regular pay.

8.06.01 No teacher shall be subject to more than one (1) evaluation cycle per school year.
8.06.02 The evaluation cycle shall be completed no later than May 1 and the teacher shall receive the final written report of the cycle, including the assigned evaluation rating, no later than May 10.
ORIENTATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. Employees employed by the Lima City Schools for the first time may be required to participate in an orientation/professional development program involving five (5) days before the contracted year and periodically throughout the school year. These meetings will follow a specific format and new hires will be paid their per diem rate for each full day of attendance. Teachers who are not new hires may elect to participate in up to four (4) of the professional development sessions that may be made available by the District before the contracted year. Veteran teachers will be paid their per diem rate for each full day of attendance at such sessions. Employees may attend sessions that are either specifically job-related or general topics that would benefit all teachers.

Should there be any changes to the OTES procedure then the Board shall provide training on the components of changes to the teacher evaluation procedure, including the calibration of evaluation ratings, the evaluation Standards for Ohio Educators, rubrics, tools, processes, methodology, and the use of High Quality Student Data (HQSD).
C. Before the first day of instruction with students, teachers shall be provided with an in interactive training of the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System, including but not limited to the purpose, professional growth plans, improvement plans and the evaluation rubric and High Quality Student Data and other pertinent information in the evaluation system. FUNDING FOR ORIENTATION, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING In accordance with the Ohio State Board of Education’s State-wide evaluation framework, the Board has adopted a specific plan for the allocation of financial resources to support the professional development of teachers.
