WORK SCHEDULES AND HOURS OF WORK. Pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), employees shall have a fixed workweek that consists of a regular recurring period of 168 consecutive hours (seven (7) 24-hour periods), which can begin and end on any day of the week and at any time of the day. The designated workweek for an employee may be changed only if the change is intended to be permanent and not designed to evade overtime requirements of the FLSA. The normal hours of work for Crossing Guard are divided into a morning period, lunch period, and afternoon period. Some employees work only a morning period and afternoon period. The schedule for each corner will be determined by the City and communicated to the employees. Hours between the morning period, lunch period and afternoon period shall be free time for employees. Employees shall not be restricted in their movement during these hours between morning period, lunch period and/or afternoon period. Any employee may be called in as needed to fill a vacancy. Nothing in this Article shall guarantee to any employee a specific number of hours per day, or days per week, or weeks per month of employment. The City shall have the right to adjust hours based upon the needs of the individual school or the City of Los Angeles. The City agrees, however, that it will, as a matter of course, advise the Union anytime an established corner is eliminated, including the reason for the elimination. The City also agrees that it will, upon request by the Union, advise the Union of reductions in the number of scheduled hours of a given corner, and the reason therefor.

WORK SCHEDULES AND HOURS OF WORK. A. Work Schedules & Hours of Work Unit employees (except Public Safety Dispatcher) are assigned a 4/10 work schedule (unless otherwise noted). The work schedule includes four consecutive ten-hour workdays followed by three consecutive days off. Each employee has a seven-day FLSA workweek. Hours of work are assigned as follows: • Maintenance: 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday- Thursday- (1/2 hour unpaid lunch) • Custodians: 1:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday-(1/2 hour unpaid lunch) • PD PSO: 6:00 p.m.-4:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. (1/2 hour paid lunch) • PD Property Technician and Police Services Supervisor- Property- 6:00 a.m.-4:30p.m. (1/2 hour unpaid lunch) • Parking Control Officer- 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sun., Mon., Wed., and Friday) (1/2 hour paid lunch) PCEA MOU 2019 - 2021 10 All Other Unit Employees: • 7:15 a.m. - 6:15 p.m., Monday - Thursday - (1 hour unpaid lunch) Employees receiving a paid lunch must remain at the worksite to be available to respond or continue working when staffing is needed. All other work schedules or hours of work would require the Alternative Work Schedule Request Form to be submitted and approved by the City Administrator.
B. Public Safety Dispatch Work Schedule 1. Public Safety Dispatchers and the Police Services Supervisor - Dispatch may be assigned to the 4/10 or the 3/12 work schedule.
a. The 4/10 work schedule includes four consecutive ten-hour workdays followed by three consecutive days off in each workweek.
b. The 3/12 work schedule includes three consecutive 12 hour shifts in each workweek. In alternate workweeks, employees work an eight-hour day. The seven-day FLSA workweek begins four hours into the alternating eight-hour work day.
c. When feasible, the City may offer either work schedule to unit employees or may elect to have all Public Safety Dispatchers work the same work schedule.
d. Public Safety Dispatchers and the Dispatch Supervisor have a paid thirty minute meal period. The City may purchase meals for dispatch employees when funding is available in the City budget.
e. Hours of work for each work schedule are determined by the Police Department. Public Safety Dispatchers may sign up for work shifts under the following guidelines:
i. Shift sign-ups are available based on seniority within the Public Safety Dispatcher classification.
ii. When there is a dispute regarding shift assignment or shift availability, seniority shall be considered as the predominant deciding factor in shift assignment.

WORK SCHEDULES AND HOURS OF WORK. 1. The official workweek begins at 12:01 a.m. each Saturday and ends at midnight the following Friday. An employee who occupies a full-time permanent or full-time grant position shall work 40 hours per week. These 40 hours include meal breaks, and two (2) 15 minute rest breaks each day. The meal break will normally be taken during the middle one-half (1/2) of the employee's shift. A meal break shall consist of a period of not longer than thirty (30) minutes, and shall be arranged in accordance with the practices established by the immediate supervisor, but not within two (2) hours of the employee’s starting time or one (1) hour of the employee’s quitting time. Employees may be interrupted or required to immediately return to duty during their meal breaks. In no event will rest breaks be scheduled within one (1) hour of the employee’s start of or end of shift or meal break.
2. Employees working five (5) 8-hour days shall receive two (2) consecutive 24-hour periods off, Saturday and Sunday. Employees working four (4) 10-hour days shall receive three (3) 24-hour periods off, two (2) of which must be consecutive. The Association and the County agree that during the term of this Agreement, and continuing until a successor agreement is reached, employees shall have the option to work four (4) 10-hour days and receive three (3) 24-hour periods off, two

Section 7.1 - Basic Workweek and Workday
a. The employer will establish specific work schedules, as necessary, to accomplish the mission IAW 5 CFR §550.103. The employer shall consider employee effectiveness, efficiency, professional development and morale in establishing specific workweek schedules.
b. The employer has the right to establish each employee’s workweek to ensure cost effective, efficient, and timely compliance with operational requirements. Subject to these requirements, the Employer, in establishing an employee’s schedule, may consider any personal hardship made known by an employee. The Employer may terminate or change work schedules without notice if the Employer determines that it would be seriously handicapped in carrying out its functions or that costs would be substantially increased, in accordance with applicable law and government- wide regulations.
c. Bargaining unit employees may request an available work schedule option in accordance with applicable Air Force policy. Approval may be based on mission requirements along with consideration of other factors to include personal hardship, education, commute times, etcetera.

WORK SCHEDULES AND HOURS OF WORK a. General Workweek or Work period: The general workweek shall be defined as the time between 12:01 a.m. Sunday through 11:59 p.m. on the following Saturday. The workweek consists of seven (7) consecutive twenty-four (24) hour periods. Law Enforcement employees and fire protection employees may have separate work periods established from at least seven (7) to twenty-eight (28) consecutive days. The work period will begin at 12:01 a.m. Sunday morning and continue to run for the then most currently established number of days (24-hour periods).
i. The ‘Work Period’ for shift personnel engaged in fire protection activities, as defined in 29 C.F.R. §553.224(a), is a 24-day cycle under the FLSA 7(k) exemption. For payroll purposes, the 24-day work period begins at 7:00am and ends at 7:00am after 24 consecutive days.
b. The Board of County Commissioners has defined usual business hours as being 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except County Holidays authorized by the Board. The Department Directors or Elected Officials shall establish the time and duration of working hours as required by the workload, the needs associated with providing efficient service to the public, the efficient management of human resources and any applicable law related to conducting County business.
c. The Library Board establishes hours of operation for each branch location.
